@Messiah Justin i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I wanted to say thanking you. After watching this video, I tried 4 snacks that you recommend and love them so much. Dry banana, coconut roll cookies, banana sandwhich with tamarind and hot squid lay chip. So yummy!
I am an Australian, born and raised in Singapore and you have no idea how I agree with this video on so many levels. I love EVERYTHING mentioned in this video - Durian? Yes. Dried squid? HEEEECK YES. I used to eat a spicy dried squid snack that will have some sugar crystals on it and it was THE best snack ever. Or maybe spicy tapioca chips that were sticky and chewy and crunchy. UGH - I MISS SOUTHEAST ASIAN SNACKS.
I lived in thailand for 8 yrs... thanks Pai, you perfectly represent the Thai culture (warm, witty, funny, etc) and the way you explain things...just downright adorable! Great show! Cheers!
People of Thailand really hv the most passion, love and enthusiasm in their work. Be it food, arts and craft or skilled work. I really respect people of this country.
On behalf of Thai, thank you for your compliment, but please don't expect too much. We -- like every places and society -- have both good and bad things, people as well. You know, expecting too much usually leads to disappointment when things didn't turn out as good as you expected although those things might be fine in their own levels.
Hey, you wrote this 3 years ago, I hope you’re doing alright now! I’ve been suffering from some problems as well and I’ve been binge watching pai’s video as well, and it’s been helping a lot
When I was on my tour of Northern Thailand, I was obsessed with the Lays Miang Kham potato chips. And you are right about how they can match the dish on the chip.
Sunflower seeds that have been soaked in coconut milk then dried are VERY addictive. SO GOOD! I'm not sure if this is a thing elsewhere, but I found them for 5 baht a bag at 7/11 and couldn't stop eating them, they are such a perfect flavor combination, not too filling, and it is fun to crack open the shells!
These last few videos in which you have shared with us with your food ventures during your visit to Thailand is making me ponder the idea of where I want to venture on my next trip! Thank you Pai!
Spot on, on the 7 snack recommendations! I played a lot of golf in Thailand and the trip to the golf courses were "road trips" even using the "tang duan"😊 and yes ma'am those snacks you chose for us... great for the "munchies"... nobody doubt this woman! She knows what she's talking about! Cheers!
Sawadikrap! I tried those banana chips with tamarind a few weeks ago when my friend's Thai family came to Valencia and brought with them lots of goodies! They are to die for! Also recommend Durian chips! nom nom!
I loved this video! I'd like to see you planning out a meal and go shopping for the ingredients while in Thailand. Seeing markets from around the world is a favorite of mine, but I'd love to see it combined with cooking after.
Thai and Indonesia have almost the same snacks. We have dried banana too, we called it "Pisang Sale" but it's dried out until almost no water in it, so it's crispy but you can find that's not too dry.
just watched the Thai Fest! amazing!!!! and thank you for pointing out the Royal projects of the late King. really important, finally, i've always felt you were beautiful, but put up next to those other beautiful exhibitors.. well, you outshine them!! thank you.
For some reason, this videos makes me think you should consider doing a mukbang! The way you taste and describe food is awesome. I'm sure I can't be the only one who wouldn't mind watching you eat something and go on and on about it, ha.
I totally agree, just one suggestion though, maybe you should avoid too much frowning while tasting... you might end up with deep wrinkles in between your brows by the time you reach 40...just my two cents. Other than that, I really think you're doing a great job!!!
The coconut roll cookies are one of my family's favorite. I love the ube flavor! Durian is equally yummy! Omg stuffed banana chips with tamarind?! Heaven!! Most find! Thank you for sharing.
I always buy these salty Cookies filled with sweet pineapple Jam and I Love peanuts with deep fried Kaffir-lime leaves and dried chilies and salt. also those tamarind Snacks with chilies, salt and sugar at seeeven are my favs na ka!😂
I always spent a lot at the Thai 7-11, snacks, cup noodles with different flavours that can't be found at my country. Banana chips, the milk, almost everything! I usually go home with luggage full of snacks, painting, and some souvenirs.
I love Thai supermarket snacks! I always went crazy when I visited Thailand. I bought a lot of snacks especially Pocky as gifts for my friends every time. Thanks for this video! I have more snacks to try/buy next time I go to Thailand!
I wish I saw this video before my trip to Thailand. I was in search of snacks to bring home. I did manage to bring quite a few. My favorite was actually 7-Eleven Milk Flavor Puffs. It's so addictive I bought 10 bags to bring back to the US.
Nice new things to try out when I come back in November, I wanna try those dried bananas and those coconut cookies 🙂 And after seen this video, I clearly have a new mission, bring some bags of Lays to my hotelroom. In Thailand it's difficult to keep up with all the flavors they come up with. Here in the Netherlands they come with a new flavor just once in a while, the choice is very limited. For me it's a tradition every Thailand trip to make a stop at a supermarket, 7- Eleven, Mini Big C, to buy some snacks, especially before I get back to my room. Please make more videos like this
The Koh Kae chicken flavored peanuts are my favorite and you are right you cannot stop eating them. My next favorite are the Lays Nori flavored pototo chips. Great video Pailin!
It is fun to try Lays in other countries. In China i had yogurt flavored chips and sezchuan hot pot flavor. Although those weren't my favorite snacks, the grocery store was amazing! The US is really missing out.
I loved your series of videos in Thailand. I wish I could find some of these snacks in my City. If I ever visit Thailand I would love to go to Thai Food Festival. My brother lives in Thailand and I miss him lots so it's possible if I can get over my fear to fly. Lol
Hi Pailin!! Thank you for your amazing videos!! You are super pretty and doing great at what you're doing! I'm Japanese who has lived in Toronto, Canada for a while! Good to find people from Canada on RUclips❤️
Pai - Discovered Lays Sweet Basil potato chips in Bangkok last week. Brought back as many packages as I could; definitely addicted! Every day I was there I walked into 7-11 and bought a couple bags and a couple peppermint field inhalers. Unfortunately the inhalers have lasted longer than the chips
Have you ever tried a snack called ‘Tua Samung Pai?’ I first bought a small bag on the street in Thonburi several years ago. Fried peanuts (valencia), shredded lime leaves and chilis, maybe with garlic. I later found it from a street vendor near Wang Lang Market, next to Siriraj Hospital. And at a stall at Or Tor Kor. I looked all over for it on my most recent trip and couldn’t find it.
I just would like a nice coconut Thai spice to use in cooking. I have a lot of Thai restaurants, but I don’t have anywhere that sells the items you need to make the items. Great thank you
Dear Pai, we Malaysians call that fudge/paste a 'dodol'. If you know how condensed milk could be turned into dulce de leche, use the same technique using coconut cream & sugar before adding a bit of durian flesh and a pinch of salt. Enjoy the results!!
In Poland my Grandparents bought me Chips with Mushroom Flavor. I liked the taste and didn't know that it was mushroom flavor, but it was familiar to me. When my grandma told me I finally recognized it💕
We finally have Dill Pickle Lay's in the U.S. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. I totally had the mian kham Lay's and Nori Lay's when I was in Thailand last time. Sooooooooooooooooo good.
Chicken flavoured peanuts remind me of Haldiram's gupshup in India, and Katjang pedis in Netherlands. India one has typical Indian spices as flavours, Katjang pedis has a sweet, spicy crunchy coat
Omg durian fudge. After watched your video I want to go Thailand now for food. I’m abit like you Pai. I’m from Brunei and now reside in Australia. Really miss the food.
Great Video I’m hostage to a cute Thai girl in Chiang Rai! Coming back to California in 2 weeks and I will definitely pick most of everything at MAKRO and what I can’t get, I will pick up at TOPS! Thank You so much! Daniel ❤Jenny
Thumbs up for the durian fudge, i must try. I would suggest you try the mango filled Oreo but I bought at airport last xmas so not sure it would pass your 'availability' test.
I miss the pandan filled donuts, they are so delicious 😋 At home we have the koh-kae coconut peanuts mostly and pocky, pineapple jam cookies and spicy squid rolled into sheets.
The 2 newest Lay's flavors out now (in Thailand) are: Tomato flavor and Sweet Chili flavor. The Sweet Chili one is fine, but the Tomato one is so gooddddddd. I love it! :)
Currently crying because I wish I had watched this video before going to Thailand! Ahhh I would do anything to try the crispy grilled squid and the Kao Tung Moo Yong. I love squid jerky and pork floss, I know I would've went mad for them.
I remember eating the peanut snacks when I was a child and I still see them in my Chinese grocery stores where I live. However, I don't really see many flavors though.
The same company that made the chicken flavored peanuts also make (or used to make?) coffee flavored peanuts. Those were my favorite. But I'm having a tough time finding them nowadays.
Pailin, can you tell me if they carry the same products that you have on this vlog in the United States? I would love to try some of them. The squid and seed weed ones looks good.
Hi Yang Lu! If you can't find them online maybe there's a Thai grocer around you that carries them? See if you have one near you on the map here hot-thai-kitchen.com/locate-a-thai-grocer/
Adam Hunter, Thanks I appreciated. I will have to look harder. I know some of the Asian/Chinese grocery stores may not meet the health department requirements. Which last year that I went to one of them to find some canned spicy bamboo shoots, well next to it was some canned fish and it strike my interest. Needless to say, ha, I will not be buying anything from there again. The canned stuffs are still on the shelves that expires back in 2002-2004. But thanks again, I will look into the Vietnam grocery stores.
So funny that some of the treats you chose are some of my fav's as well. We do a pork "floss" in the Balkans as well! It's dry and almost hair like, but once you pop it in your mouth, it melts! Like candy floss. LOL The bananas that we grown here in Malta are short and quite fat - but very sweet! The coconut roll cookies are SO like what we have in Europe - usually chocolate, almond, or vanilla flavoured. Sometimes with even a filling. But the simple tubes are the most common/popular. The potato chips made me laugh. Gotta love Lay's. Every year when I go back to Macedonia, I HAVE to try the new flavours they come out with also! I've tried so many - even crazy ones like lasagne and hot dog! LOL.And YES! It tastes just like it! HA! Those peanuts!! We also have something similar, that's coated - I think they have them in Canada too - not chicken flavour tho. LOL The squidy - ummm...not sure. LOL However - I would LOVE those tamarind filled banana chis! GREAT VIDEO! XOXOX
I love thai mangoes, fresh and pickled/dried ones. But don't know where to find it. I guess it's too late to ask you to make a video about it>.< I do love this kind of videos from you too.. which are really helpful for people who travel to Thailand and need some souvenirs recommendation:)

The same company that made the chicken flavored peanuts also make (or used to make?) coffee flavored peanuts. Those were my favorite. But I'm having a tough time finding them nowadays.
+dohn121 omg I LOVE the coffee one too! Actually had a hard time deciding between the two!
Just got some of chicken-flavored ones and some coconut ones (that flavor's not very strong) in NYC Chinatown. Very yummy!

So funny that some of the treats you chose are some of my fav's as well.
We do a pork "floss" in the Balkans as well! It's dry and almost hair like, but once you pop it in your mouth, it melts! Like candy floss. LOL
The bananas that we grown here in Malta are short and quite fat - but very sweet!
HA!
