  • Are you feeling stuck when trying to grow your Instagram account for a long time? Is it even possible to grow organically in 2020? Today I want to talk about an important topic - how to get discovered on social media as an artist.
    This is NOT a technical tutorial. I have made some more technical ones in the past, but some artists kept complaining about their growth. It's a difficult time to fight against all odds: on one hand, you have big galleries and famous artists going online, on the other hand, fewer people are purchasing their art due to the financial slowdown. It's a hard time for everyone, especially for emerging artists. If you are struggling to grow on social media, I want you to hear me out.
    First, the competition will always be there. Being an artist is like working as a startup entrepreneur. You have to face competition from time to time. If you want to become a professional artist, you must be willing to face challenges.
    Maybe you need to revise your strategy. Try to understand your art from a buyer's perspective. What niche and hashtags would they browse? How would they describe your artworks? Don't be blinded by your experience or academic training. You might be surprised by how others see you.
    Lastly, learn from the best. There are many trending topics and successful artist influencers. Make sure you spot the differences and try to close the gap. You might have better techniques, but they got more likes & shares. That's a talent in itself! You will continue to grow and break through. With time, you will surely get discovered!

    This is a very nice vid... like this happened to me and I felt I was doing so good 😊 but I was like why am i not getting audience attention to my art... Literally I felt art SUCKS that was 2019... I was stacked in same level of followers and same people commenting and liking my post, so I stopped posting for over 6months and i lost a lot of them🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ .. I groomed my mindset to knowing that this is what I am doing not for people by for the love I have for art, this year 2020 I wrote in my dairy, that I was gonna grow my Instagram and yt and make over 30 artworks both commissioned and master piece and to also sale at least some of my arts,so I decided this year during the pandemic, I groomed my mind and brain and started work again with a purpose, but I can testify, I have gained plus of followers and I have a lot attention coming from people out there who are organic, I have people dm the love my works and is amazing... Thanks for this vid

You mentioned wanting local, so mention areas your thinking about, Not just towns either, placers, parks, restaurants, etc. Also change it up once an awhile. Meaning tagging a larger city near you, being that you eventually want to spread out, start mixing in those places with in your local ones. maybe 1in 10 or something. Hope it helps for yeah, it did for some clients, that wanted very similar goal. Be well Davy@STUN

    I believe in myself but I understand that people can feel 'negative' about our current system. Devaluing their experience, in my eyes, seems a bit toxic. You're teaching people to deny their own hunches. Of course we can all fight and not give up on our selves, but we don't have to do it denying our very real circumstances.

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
      @VeryPrivateGallery  2 года назад

      Hi Alexandra, I never thought of it from this perspective. In fact I think many struggling marginalized groups are denying their own hunches. They are conditioned to think a certain way by their socioeconomic situation. On the other hand, the most innovative thinkers who changed history are generally from very wealthy upbringing (eg. Darwin). I think it’s impossible to make someone confident/unconfident in themselves just by telling a sentence or two. Valuing or devaluing something is a long term systematic process. It’s decades of influence and social interaction. I don’t think I have this power yet to make substantial change in the system.

      Hi there! I have watched your videos. believe it will help your growth by doing the following: 1) don’t put any effect on the drawings because it hinders the viewings of your work. 2) lower the music volume, record the voice over talking about your personal story about art (where you learn and how etc). 3) record the “making of” your art and make sure it’s over 8 minutes long. 4) Every 10 videos you can make 1 video about merchs. I know someone on Instagram who has become a known artist and even seems to make a good living at an artist but her art is HORRIBLE and outside of technology she is brainless.There is such a thing as conventional artists(not REAL artists) who are too good at technology to be real artists and some of them even drive cars(real artists don't drive cars.Even Andy Warhol didn't drive a car).

    • @VeryPrivateGallery

      Yes there are artists who are excellent in getting and leveraging the exposure, and there are some who has great techniques but didn’t sell. Getting “famous” online is a skill, as important as the art skill. It’s like dating, many wants the ideal date to be both beautiful on the outside and has great personality on the inside. It’s the package that matters!
