Even if it is not the most beautiful cello concerto, I thank him posthumously for composing for the cello as well. It's an instrument whose sound I really like. Thanks for this lovely concerto from the prolific Carl. While it has been said he seldom composes pieces that, say, stay in the head like Mozart, Haydn, or even C.P.E. Bach, the intrinsic beauty of his melodies are still delightful to hear. I am seldom less than charmed and appreciative of his work, and there are moments in them that rival the greats.
