I just want to take a minute to mention the Band's Drum Major, Emma Barr. She picked up a prize herself and is a former World Champion in her own right. She maintained great composure through a hectic march off, despite a lot of well wishers getting in her way. Well done.
What a powerhouse this band is. Not cool to get between a Drum Major and her band. Great composure on her part. These fine musicians are playing - As One - unless seconds appear. You can't tell them apart. This is how it is done folks. Only the best survive to this level and competition is fierce. The commitment is also enormous. Ask an old Piper who has been there and they will tell you that it is a competition from the very beginning. That's why the music excels - We compete just to be there in the ranks.
No doubt about this band, they are the world's best without a doubt. I would also like to praise drum major Emma Barr for her spectacular display. She overcame the hurdles from inane people to keep her composure. Thank you all.
My dad won this in the 90s, it was my towns local Pipebands so the whole town went made, people where screaming and cheering from the windows like Scotland had just won the world cup! It a big deal in Scotland.
Well done Field Marshall Montgomery pipe band you really sound great. I play part time with Govenor Macquarie Memorial pipe band with Leader Barry Gray
5:00 The best part is when they're marching past the toilets... Someone lucky person had a "world champion" shit that day! (If you can't crap to pipe band music, what kind of music can you crap to?) Jk, Good job FMM, you guys are definitely in my top ten list of favourite pipe bands.
Phenomenal menal ! Phenomenal ! particularly the drum major. Great skills. Best baton hurling and great control and awareness.I would love them to play at my funeral. I don't have the date yet though
impressive- everyone who was not playing a bagpipe or drum must have had a son or daughter playing -- never seen so many cell phone photographers all over the place
The truth is they very rarely ever get beat in piping and even then some judges decisions you got to ask questions of. However the drumming needs to come up the rankings as Inveraray are currently the more complete band. I love the drumming style from fmm and how it fits the piping so well but maybe they need to change it up. Boggies also starting to become an amazing well rounded band. Well done all. Fantastic 2 days
So much more powerful when they are marching. Imagine it as a battlefield. The enemy know the Scotts are comping, waiting anxiously/impatiently. Suddenly, behind the hill on the other side of the valley they hear the pipers and a few seconds after that they see the enemy rising from behind the hill. The pipers ar marching steadily forward, with no fear and the enemy can see that, knowing that at some point the pipers will be where they are now - and in front of the pipers is the enemy solders, which by reasoning must be behind this point when the pipers reach it.

Think of the amount of money these people had to spend to get there... It's insane! Nothing is cheap, it's all expensive; reeds, kilts, plane tickets, etc... It's so much more about money and who you know, and so much less about how good you may or may not be at playing the GHB, or tapping on your little drummy-drum... It's a total shakedown racket job, but it's fun anyway.
I agree, but totally disagree. Because who you know has nothing to do with it if you can't get in there and belt out a great performance. But, who you know can tip the outcome in your favour if the competition is close. I wouldn't take an organization over there that weren't serious about their instrument. You'll get spanked. Called daft even.
I Love the SFU organization. But, I think the judges had it right. The intensity coming out of this pipe section made the difference. SFU's drum section was the clear winner as well.
Never walk too far ahead, as, these days, every mobile phone pest believes they've a right to 'get in the way'. The cameraman with the rig is the only official photographer/videographer, however unless you have a marked lane and viz vesties clearing the way you're doomed..

Yes! As soon as i saw this video i knew she is the best drum major i have ever seen.
I noticed how at ease she was while twirling such a long baton up up in the air even with people around. She's grand indeed.
She looks like a he

I love that version of the Hard Drive. Is there somewhere I can buy the sheet music?
Seeing this competition is one thing I might want to do after I soon retire and escape from Trumpina.
Think they have just raised the bar on match of tunes
