Sara Watkins - basically started Nickel Creek with her bro and friends back in 89 (how far back is that?) Whatever- it was the year before Aoife O’Donovan was born. Aoife has been working (since birth?) with a bunch of Irelands best, her family included, plus the likes of Jerry Douglas, Yo Yo Ma (Checkout Goat Rodeo), The Boston Pops. She did improv study at no less than the New England Conservatory (they don’t take everybody). 1991 Sarah Jarosz is born- at 10 picking up the mandolin and claw hammer, guitar etc before high school- as a senior she signed with Sugar Hill Records (some fantastic albums) - then the gal is off to The New England Conservatory (is there an echo). Bottom line- These ladies write, sing and play across the generational lines, have the highest kind of education, smarts and professional skills yet they are humble, down to earth and have become a blessing - the challenging art they do is so subtle the difficulty is hidden in the simple beauty of their harmony. Thank you all, and all the guys and gals behind the scenes.
