Drummer is a subtle genius. I hope people can recognize that
A drummer friend pointed out DJ's sly use of sixteenth notes on the hi-hat.
And just when my limited intelligence was trying to accomodate both Mark's diaphonous scales and Laura's deft bass tones.
In an interview, Laura talked about their writing process. It all begins with him laying down a beat and they layer from there. Not the conventional way to write a song, but damn does it make for a tasty tune.
@Tokyo Tapes I've seen that more with electronic type music or sampling. Usually in a full band, someone writes a melody that the song is built around. That seems to be the traditional way to write music, but I'm just speaking from personal experience.
Pity he looks so bored; like he's suffering through another tedious practise session with a self-indulgent lead guitarist...
@@julianwarmington1267 I find it kind of refreshing instead of these drummers that has to overdo it to get any recognition.
Mark Speer is the best thing that has come to the guitar world this decade, his style is completely unique and absolutely captivating
Completely mellow in interviews I've seen too. In one the interviewer thought the guitar was older and Speer just admitted it was a post 2000 guitar with some mods. And maple fretboards FtW for people lazy about cleaning their stuff. 😜
@@czos9239 I saw the crud also. Hmmmm musical flavoring!
DAMMMM GOOOOD!
agreed, but he might be the first to say his style is a pastiche of 'world' guitarists from places like north africa, south east asia and other - not 'unique' so much as 'exotic'
I can only agree
NO PHONES in the crowd. Props and respect! everyone just vibin’
But.. Why No Weed smoke ???
i spotted a few cellphones :P
CERN use this drummer to set the time on the atomic clock
jajajajaj!
like the most professional drummer, dahh
Yoav Amit to play even more tightly he is playing one handed on some parts
Good one !!! 😂
He invented the metronome. Did you not know?
Khruangbin made me realize how close finding an amazing new band falling in love are.
N E laura said flat out in 1 interview they were all in love. They reinvented peak agape. Just in time for the nwo takeover then apocalypse.
They are the reverse tide in musical form.
🙏🧡
they're shit
I’m an old guy who used to think there wasn’t any good music made after 1974. After seeing Khruangbin, I admit I was oh so wrong.
I'm another old guy who used to think there wasn't any good music made after 1974. After seeing Khruangbin, I admit I was also oh so wrong. 😎
I'm not old woman, who didn't belive that this band is not from 60-s, I was so surprised when I saw their concert in 2019,lucky to live at same time with these guys
I can see that. Still Corners(have to admit I'm only familiar with Strange Pleasures) gave me hope in pop btw.
Fleet Foxes
@Nastro Adhesivo In 1974, Robert Plant messed up his voice.
I SO MUCH love Laura's style of playing. I mean musically. She doesn't try to brag with unnecessary melodies and notes. Everything is just in its perfect place. The pauses are superb and are what really defines a great bass player imo.
Plus she's a Cutiepie
Pretty hard to believe she literally learned to play bass literally to play in this band.
@@ysf-psfx She learned to play so she could play with Yppah (Mark was in the band at the time), but it wasn't that long before they started Khruangbin, and then playing got much better.
She's like a child having the time of her life.
And great deep tone...So much modern bass sounds thin, harsh and annoying...this is just right!
I saw the drummer open his chest once and it was full of wires.
Take note, that should be a new animation!
Right comment
Oh, no wonder he looks so wired.
When the lead guitarist announced the name of the next song, it just hit me that I don't know the name of any of their songs - because I don't have to - I just listen to all their songs, no filler, nothing to skip. Pure artistry.
The same for me, including King Gizzard.
I'm fine just by listening to the music without getting picky with names.
It's all one long song :).
@@bloodysmurf yes lol
lol agreeeed
That's ones personal opinion. I myself am not in agreement with the statement. These 3 I could find anytime on any street in a city where artists " "" display their music and or ideas.
The drummer is the king of pocket. One day I wanna be as cool as him hahaa
@@Glock_Nico it's suppose to be played like that
Bonita Cure He purposely made his drum parts uncreative and boring?
@ongakuhaze maybe boring for you, but not everyone else. It's not khruangbin sounds if it is played differently. They must be thinking and brainstorming about what sound they want to create when they started the band.
Joe SGBKU me too! Deployed in Afghanistan and we have a specialist in our battalion that is a literal musical genius and we've been hitting this concert for 3 weeks and man he gets into it , jsut has a hell of alt more rhythm than me lol. We had a convoy ambush where he took some shrapnel from a Russian grenade to the left calve and while waiting for the bird to come get him we were out of the good stuff so my brother turned on this concert to get his mind off it for the 90 minutes and he was jamming eyes closed and rockin his head , hell fuckin yeah! That's music!!! 👌👌
Nico Glock wow your weak dude
This guy uses one guitar, the same set of strings and carries one pick with him all tour. Amazing.
ruclips.net/video/_m7OFp2Uv-g/видео.html
hes also has that same guitar since 2002
I see no pick.
@@dozer1642 You see yes pick at ruclips.net/video/hr7ScpVj1QY/видео.html (after 7:42)
The guy has used only one(!) goddamn Dunlop pick for performance over the years, wearing it down to a nub -- not to worry, he has *another one* as back-up in case of emergency. ( ಠ ͜ʖಠ)
26:49 Cameraman FAIL: manages to pan slowly over bassist's bottom during the *only* few seconds of the whole concert that it's *not* sinuously swaying and dipping rhythmically. Sigh.
Do you think their parents are proud of them?
for about 2 month i listen to this beautiful set everday at work. this is the only reason i dont get crazy. brothers and sisters dont let the bastards grind you down.
i put on my headphones, close my eyes and let my mind wander to a groovier place
The high quality of this recording is highly impressive!!
I BARELY CAME ACROSS THIS GROUP ON SPOTIFY AND MAN IM BLOWN AWAY WITH THEIR SOUL AND SOUND. LOVE IT. CHEERS FROM LOS ANGELES CA
13:49 Epic Moment that makes me love Khruangbin for showing to me how awesome music can be!
This band have affected my whole view upon electric guitar, bass and drums.
What they do is unbelievablely good and smooth and also fun!
From Colatina, Espírito Santo, Brasil, here is "Ormando" wishing to all you guys and girls nice encounters with the intergalactic love in form of sound vibrations!
Thank you Khruangbin!
I wish Aliens hear to your sounds and understand humans can do beautiful and lifefull creations :}
omn ~;~
Agree!
They are great! Totally awesome!! :)
My favorite song, or at least one of them at this moment. Such a KILLER BAND!!
Nicolas Castellano such a nice groovie, feels like surfing on sounds :}
Omn Lumina Nimbus
Bicho, encontrei a banda por acaso e agora já faz semanas que ouço quase todo dia. Hipnotizante de assistir também.
Abraço de Curitiba
These guys are incredible, I can't get enough! Mark on that strat...most beautiful sound I've ever heard♡
Ridiculous talent. That’s all you can say. Every song is a trip through about 7 different genres. Seen them live in Manchester & it blew me away. ❤️🇹🇭✈️
Still watching three weeks on, looking at Mark he's completely in the zone, this is just great guitar playing, got his whole own thing going on, Brilliant. I'm enjoying this live sound more that some of the tracks on the album.
I'm going to see them with my dad next Friday at The Moore Theatre in Seattle
Update:
We had a blast. My dad got the set list from the stage. They signed my hat, the set list, and the vinyl I bought. 12/10 would see them again
They make me want to play music again. 😭😭😭😭😭
Same here. Since I discovered them, I am starting to play again. It is inspiring.
If you're able to play music please do if for no other reason than the fact that I have arthritis and can't play anymore play for people like me

Absolutely amazing.
I feel like I am in another world.
I didn't knew this band till now but they're are absolutely extremely talented and they captured my ears from the first few minutes, definitely my kind of music!
The only band that make albums I can listen to in their entirety.... 🔥
I just can't seem to watch this enough. 😀
The amount of times I have came back to this video...
Amazing band and performance. It goes to show that you don't need thousands of dollars of instruments to sound amazing. That bass she's playing is a $360 SX brand.
Ampeg SVT amp tho'... a100 $ bass would sound good through that.
True. All artist first made their name with cheap equipment. May it be music, sports or innovators. Then you rewards self and splurge meaningless.
She might have changed the pickups and pots, who knows.
@@ankurshah23meaningless is a STRONG word in that context but okay lol
I have my tickets to see them @ the Greek Theatre in Berkeley July 16th with my daughter. SO stoked!!!!!!
No ego, just music that transports you to another plane of existence
Another “plane”....jet-like, assuming. Would love to fly in one of those
@@Oh_I_Will Haha, yes...thanks for pointing that out :-)
Beautiful , not just something I watched on U T , but so much more than that , buying all their Albums hope you do too .
Peace and Love from Australia
I don't know if I've ever been so aware of experiencing perfection in real time.
This band hypnotizes people ! watch out because you will be watching videos of them for 12 hours straight and enjoy it so much
Spaghetti western meets hip Hop, what a trio, never heard of them until yesterday, now they on loop, I'm going through the whole catalogue. superb....only thing missing is me on the Mic
I did not know I needed that 90's West Coast hip-hop medley!
They make it look like it's no sweat to play like this.
The guy on guitar makes me fucking cry with joy just hearing what his playing what a guitarist.
yeah actually no particular skill, just a complete chill, laid back dontgiveafuk attitude. noice!
So far, this is the greatest Gig of Khruangbin I ever saw! Their communication on stage is incredible! I can feel the shyness of the guitar player, but for the fact, that the bass only learned how to play the instrument for this project, he couldn't hesitate no more 💕 the pianist made the same and shifted his skills into the sticks! When you're aware that he playes only this guitar with very used plectrums....mind-blowing! Especially from the 31st minute.
Just occurred to me who Laura Lee reminds me of: the actress Catherine Zeta Jones.
Entrapment vibes.. RIP Sean Connery
Yep! Good call.
Like Caterine guittar Jones.
I am Thankful that I found this group and they actually make their music & shows 150% about the music.
I fell in love with their music, it makes me feel on another planet!
This proves if you just actually try you can still discover new avenues of creativity
I love the rendition of "Police in Helicopter" thrown in there at 7:57. He throws a lot of little gems like that in this performance which I haven't seen in other live performances, so this is my favorite performance of Khruangbin I've seen so far.
this is their best live performance, no doubt. Amazing band with not a single bad song!
Did you see the Austin City Limits performance? Watch People Everywhere
The band performs better live than on the album. Also, the bass section sounds and looks amazing.
They are special. They made feel so much joy.
Amazing performance. The audience was feelin it.
35:55 this song NEEDS TO BE in a Tarantino's movie sounsdtrack.
David Lynch took them.
No matter how bad your day is, listening to these guy's just makes everything alright in the world.
One of their best sets here on RUclips ❤
I will never understand how can a homo sapiens sapiens individual come across this music in the internet and take all the pain to click "dislike"... this is more mysterious than crop circles to me.
Everyone has different taste, it's not rocket science...
I didn't know that, my apologies.
Lol
Im with you. This is so not my kind of music. But im so insanely intrigued by this band, i cant stop listening. Magical!
Only 74 dislikes as of now so thats only 1,5% so 98,5% of people who watch are homo sapiens. Not bad. The rest are probably their cats sleeping on their keyboards
I just now caught the "My minds playing tricks on me/ Hung up on my Baby" riff at 1:30..lol nice H town representation.
And that sample comes from an Isaac Hayes tune . I’m sure it’s a huge influence on Mark I often here a bunch of little Hayes influences in his sets
@@DavidHernandez-np6pk very true..
The drummers smile at the very end - I love it!
Quels bons musiciens ....le guitariste est superbe!...un gros WOW! Groupe de Houston, Texas.....
Not sure why scientists bother with caesium clocks when theres this drummer knocking about.
Khruangbin é uma mistura legal de Rock, Pop, Reague, Soul, Folk, Ritmblues, Disco, Jazz, Jimi Hendrix...
Absolutely love this band, hands down best music made this century. If people want more like them check out their inspiration and artists inspired by them. Tinariwen, mdou moctar (Saharan desert tunes genre in general), orions belte, arc de soleil, offthewally, allah-las, yin yin, gitkin, kikigaku moyo, Joshua bredow, balthvs, Richard houghten, fatouma diawara, savanna funk, glass beams. Enjoy the music people 🌈🌌🙌
The hip-hop touch is the reason I'm here... I love it, stunning. That drummer producer gentleman is definitely the glue and a genius.
A genius...how so?
Khruangbin is sooo good!
Khruangbin uma das melhores bandas dos últimos tempos , som único e original, melodias incríveis e um grande entrosamento dos músicos ! Props🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Mark Speer my new idol. What a guitarist ma god
This is amazing! What a groove baby! Never heard a concert where I loved every song!
Considering how this band started as an Austin area worship band, out of the church, then they found a girl who was not a instrumentalist at all, picked up the bass, and she’s been laying it down ever since... it’s a testament to how these guys were meant to play together.
The drummer lays out a steady groove, who is subtle but slick, this guy is good, they got a hot cute and in the pocket bass player and you got the Texas version of Genghis Khan playing guitar, these guys are really cool.
At the end of the day I had to remember what the word “Khruangbin” actually means, if memory serves - airplane?
Except they are not from Austin......from Houston.
this guitar player makes me cry bc its so beautiful.
Got this whole Band of Gypsies vibe.
Mark had no business shredding that hard on Dern Kala. Face melted
Saw them in Nashville in March 22. Great show!
Love this sooooooo much!!!!
I'm watching this in my bed, but I feel like I'm in some foreign country, its summer and I'm with my friends, we just had an amazing day and decided to stay up all night to drink some beers on the balcony of our low-budget hostel
Your Art of Music is Fascinating! 🌹🌹🌹 My Regards '
20:19 Damn she's bad!!!😍
There isn't a song I don't like. That's pretty impressive. Thanks for the tunes! ☆♡
Smooth tunes and epic wigs, what else can anyone ask for. I guess i could ask for the bass to be up higher in the mix.
These guys are good! What a class act!
Damn. What an amazing set in an incredible setting. Would have loved to be there to jam with them in person.
THIS BAND ROCKS!!!
We need some full shows from the 2021 Fall tours!
Stay #InTheCut, y’all!
Gracias a Dios , después del mierdero que es la vida siempre tendremos a Khuranbin. Larga vida.
@15:50 , Laura Lee sheds a tear. I wish I could be there to keep it from hitting the ground
Love this .this is so relaxing and smooth.✌💜🐨☯️
This band is the best advertisement for reverb pedals ever.
This is so awesome
Drums are just so tight! Other world time keeping.
Ooo wee..
Wow! Sublime!❤
The drummer knows precisely where he needs to be... the groove is on!
You can endlessly watch a fire, a running water and how a beautiful girl plays bass.
Awesome music!!!!!!! 😃😃😃😃😃😃
Mark Speer. My favorite guitarist right now.
Gosto muito dessas músicas 🇧🇷
The only tighter pocket than this trio are the atoms holding together the nucleus of a cell.
Laura's such a beauty!
I could hear them play "It Was a Good Day"/"Footsteps in the Dark" all freaking day.
It melted my ears so good I bought concert tickets to see them tomorrow
Listen to the music and be here now
This dude had been playing a lot of GTA San Andreas hahaha loved it... caught me totally by surprise
I SEE THEM LIVE TOMORROW THANKS TO RUclips RECOMMENDATIONS AHHH
In love with this girls sway
Just simple good music
Drummer saw rip in space continuum. Immediately repaired it. Twice. Smiling. Bc damn he’s that good.
When Jesus, Cleopathra and Buddah sit together in the universe and decide to make live music in the 21st century. Thank you it's really magical.

Same bro
Was just listening and spacing out, pretty much coming to that same realisation xD
Just checked if they would be there for BKS 2023 but alas...lucky basterds that were there!
Put it on my bucket list to check these lovely folks out live and if luck permits, hang out for a few drinks with them! 😎
@@SalmonFume they suck
