    I'll have to listen to this a few times,pause and repeat many many times and picture it probably with my eyes closed.So where does that put me.A painting, l immediately saw a size,canvas,in a room,the background,the canvas,the position on the wall etc...
    This was brilliant Damon....I'm here doing my nlp practiconal coursework and every few minutes I'm rewinding and replaying. I always thought I had auditory processing disorder but l dont believe l have.This part of my brain was shut down as a coping mechanism for so long and it's just beginning to awaken.
    This was brilliant....now l know why my other half takes so long to tell me something....😆😆

    The way you described the way a person who is kinaesthetic speaks slow, that describes me.

  • @GeorgWanek

    Thanks Damon! I like to approach the representational system from the point that we are all and think it is important to learn and experience from and with them. Long did I thought I am primarily visual but I am actually more kinesthetic; I am visual on the surface and as of this I often start from there before I really 'land'. Kinesthetic is where it really makes the difference. And interestingly auditative is the one that triggers the most getting out of a resourceful state.

    Thank you Damon for bringing great clarity to this rather fundamental concept especially the section around being kinesthetic in an emotional and evaluative way. In essence meaning that we are all kinesthetic. That can still lead to confusion and it is so easy if operating without a proper explanation which you have done. Thank you sooo much. D

    I just started my NLP studies, and I am so glad I found your channel to go over what I learned in the course ☺️
    Oh, I think I use visuals a lot because I would usually say: long story short? what is your point ( hurry on 🙄) 😂😂
    But I realized doing exercises that I like when I practice to “feel things” and give myself time to think. I feel calmer and I make wiser decisions. Indeed, balance is the key!

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  3 года назад +1

      I'm glad you found my channel too.
      We all use visuals. Except for rare cases of rare disorders we store and retrieve information from all five senses. Sometimes people tend to lean on one sense more than the rest, but we all use all of them.
      The phrases you mentioned like "long story short" don't have sensory predicates so they are neutral when it comes how you represent that information. In other words, there's nothing visual about that statement. It could be represented auditorily as well.
      Be careful with feelings or the kinesthetic representation. There is kinesthetic evaluative/emotional, which everyone does. And there is kinesthetic perceptual, which is tactile sensations and proprioception. Many people think they're kinesthetic because they refer to their emotional/evaluative feelings, but that's not what being kinesthetic means because in that regard, everyone is kinesthetic. We're always evaluating and feeling emotions in order to make decisions.

    As always ..... this was really good information and I so resonate with your perspectives. Thanks Damon!
    I have been trying to use Rep systems to be able to guage a prospect’s primary rep, guess it takes quite a bit of practice.
    Quite a lot of what you mentioned can surely be useful even when we are on a phone call, and mirror/ match tonality, pace etc? Probably may apply to the online zoom calls we’ve now started having in place of face to face meetings.
    It would be awesome if you could do a video on the same subject - just focused on telephonic / online meeting scenarios.
    Thanks again for all that you bring out for us 😊🙏

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  4 года назад +1

      Thank you. Meeting online, if you can see the person works exactly the same way as it does when you meet in person. If you can't see them as in being on the phone with voice only, You have to really focus on their voice. Slow, breathy talking usually means accessing feelings. Fast, nasal or high pitch tone usually means visual. Melodic and resonate usually means auditory.

      We all use all of them. Most of us are well integrated, though we will tend to lean on one more than the others in most contexts. It's unfortunate though when people take their first NLP course they're quick to identify themselves as one and they're constantly trying to judge others for which one they are. Bad idea.

      I thought I was very visual before I started learning NLP but as I learned it I also discovered I was very kinesthetic at times and also very auditory digital (talk to myself). I would say I was probably auditory the least and that has remained so up until just recently; ever since I started learning another language. Learning another language will definitely enhance your auditory processing.

    • @MamaTerraSantos

      @@DamonCart So fascinating! I'm incredibly visual with a high auditory. I often watch videos and listen to podcasts on 1.5 or 2x because it otherwise feels too slow for me! I have to really try hard to work on the kinesthetic (which has been greatly helped by my learning and now teaching yoga on the side). I could see how learning another language would be very helpful for auditory processing growth for sure! Thanks!

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  4 года назад +1

      @@andrejburke Some of us talk to ourselves more than others. We usually have a different way of categorizing sounds like music from our own internal dialogue. When we talk to ourselves we typically become disassociated which can be useful but often isn't. When we hesitate, in other words, we're often talking to ourselves. Like I mentioned this can be very useful at the right time and it can create problems when not used at the right time.

    Nice talk, thanks. When I talk to someone, I have the tendency to close my eyes. I do this so I can hear more, but at the same time to visualize what the other person is saying. Does that show visual or auditory representation?

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  4 года назад +3

      As I mention in the video we usually do a combination rather than just one. Often there will be one we use as an indicator and one for primary processing. For example you may use visual to indicate or make sensory meaning of what the person is saying and at the same time you may use auditory to fully understand what the person is saying (processing).

      NLP can be used to manipulate depending on a person's intention using it. Example: I could use a flower to manipulate a girl to like me even though my intention is to dump her the day after we sleep with each other. She might say, 'Hey, that flower was BS.' No, at the same time I can give my wife of 22 years a flower for Valentine’s day to sincerely express my affection for her. In short, NLP is the flower. It depends on the intention of the person using it.
