I think you touched on something VERY important in the beginning of this video. “You guys only see the highlights of our lives” It is VERY important to ALL of us not to compare our every waking moment to somebody else’s highlight reel. Life is a struggle, and just because you don’t see other’s struggles, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. It’s so easy to get discouraged when comparing an every day working man, family life to Bob’s high sea adventures. Thank you for making that point! Stay grounded and soldier on.

While at home due to covid 19 I have had the time to start watching sailing doodles and have caught up with all your back catalogue up until you moving into your new boat 2nd boat. Thanks for posting the podcast , I think I heard it first as a podcast, but not figured out how to comment on audio podcasts. One trick for the outside teak is after prepping varnish (with or without epoxy) then paint with white paint ( or a color) that protects the varnish and wood and lasts so much better. If you ever want to go back to wood you sand off the paint and the wood is not full of the paint in the grain, old school trick for 'captained boats in Med/Carib' than only got sailed for couple of months a year. Yes... editing takes time and is an art form. LIVE PODCASTING is a super efficient content production solution and can be fun, educational and entertaining. When will we see Maverick and Goose aboard the new boat? Bobby likes to explore new tools to keep us interested. Laura was fun to watch. She loved to play . We loved to watch Bobby and Laura interact as a couple.Even with careful editing there were certain scenes you could tell just by facial expressions that there was tension. That is REAL reality TV. I love the way you guys have spent your time and you always appeared so happy together. So when this one popped up today I was shocked (I am a bit behind the times). Explaining what went wrong does not amount to putting her down! There really was nothing illuminating here about why they split up and it could have been very respectful.

He does not want to tell us what went wrong, ignored the subject for months and then complained over all the speculation! So NOW he says "about the breakup".... well what about it??? He still did not tell us anything we did not already know and he did not tell us WHY it happened! Of course things went wrong! DUH!! He showed us all the good and happy times and then he just went ahead without her and without explanations! He owed us an explanation that's still not happened. I doubt it will but that makes him dishonest with his audience and I am on the cusp of leaving the Patreon part of him as did many others! Think about it. WHY was he very supportive of her? Because he felt guilty of dumping her. So he wanted to let her down gently. It's a face saving maneuver, not so much a class act. That is very very rare and it only occurs in cases when there is nothing to gain, which is not the case here. For the same reasons, she stays silent. Living by the sword....

Had a Tiawan Wm. Garden Ketch. Teak for days. I slaved over it until a cruiser slipped next to me with gleaming teak that looked like you could dive into. I asked him what he did. He stunned me with "l never take it off". He used brass steel wool to rub it down every 90 to 120 days then put a coat of varnish on it. Wish l could remember the name of the varnish. He had 400 coats on the teak. It was amazing. I lessened my workload by half at least. My teak became the talk of the marina in a couple years. Just a suggesting. Rock on, relationships are hard, you handled it with class.
Soo true , when people ate on their computers they say what ever they want , in your face totally different . Your boat looks like a old cabin in the woods soo cozy . Im glad for you and keep up the good work .

It's a shame that you are Laura split but you both knew what was right for you. Things don't always work out and I was very impressed that you were so stand up with the fact that when the cameras are off, things are NOT always so pleasant. You are an honest dude Bobby. Its true Bob, you need to show the good and the bad, especially with you and Taylor. Don’t paint the picture that everything is rosy only to leave the viewers flat. Love the new boat! And glad the doodles are back! You are a great narrator and need to have both the podcasts (which are easier for you) as well as the live action day to day action. Hopefully Taylor will not be the ditzhead that Laura was and will be portrayed not as T&A but a more significant part of the actually sailing!

Well done. You were the first sailing show I started watching and it was way before Laura. Don’t get me wrong, she was wonderful and do watch her channel as well. Laura has a wonderful and contagious personality and I am sure she will do fine. Sorry things did not work out for the two of you but such is life. Great to hear that you are taking care of her student loans etc., way to man up! I was impressed how you picked yourself up after your flying career was taken away, but hey, what a wonderful new life it has given you. I think you have some of the best drone shots out there and have always been impressed with the knowledge you have shared. i honestly don't understand how two people can be on a boat alone for days on end and not get sick of each other... love the new format. Mics sound great... the little switcher is a cool addition as well...I'm an AV geek and those little additions make a huge difference on the product... keep at it, Sir!

I chanced on Sailing Doodles because it randomly came up in my recommendations so I’ve been watching the odd one over the last week or two. I love the way you guys have spent your time and you always appeared so happy together. So when this one popped up today I was shocked (I am a bit behind the times).
Break ups are hard no matter what the circumstances. I wish you both all the very best in your endeavours.

Explaining what went wrong does not amount to putting her down! There really was nothing illuminating here about why they split up and it could have been very respectful.

@@southernboy7837 No I don't think I did. I just find his "explanations" to be obfuscations. He does not want to tell us what went wrong, ignored the subject for months and then complained over all the speculation! So NOW he says "about the breakup".... well what about it??? He still did not tell us anything we did not already know and he did not tell us WHY it happened! Of course things went wrong! DUH!! He showed us all the good and happy times and then he just went ahead without her and without explanations! He owed us an explanation that's still not happened. I doubt it will but that makes him dishonest with his audience and I am on the cusp of leaving the Patreon part of him as did many others! Think about it. WHY was he very supportive of her? Because he felt guilty of dumping her. So he wanted to let her down gently. It's a face saving maneuver, not so much a class act. That is very very rare and it only occurs in cases when there is nothing to gain, which is not the case here. For the same reasons, she stays silent. Living by the sword....

I was a weekend warrior sailing on my 34' Rival and really enjoyed it. Watching your adventures is really awesome. You have my respect sir. I have actually went through everyone of your videos. This is a beautiful boat.

Had a Tiawan Wm. Garden Ketch. Teak for days. I slaved over it until a cruiser slipped next to me with gleaming teak that looked like you could dive into. I asked him what he did. He stunned me with "l never take it off". He used brass steel wool to rub it down every 90 to 120 days then put a coat of varnish on it. Wish l could remember the name of the varnish. He had 400 coats on the teak. It was amazing. I lessened my workload by half at least. My teak became the talk of the marina in a couple years. Just a suggesting. Rock on, relationships are hard, you handled it with class.

I go back to when you were sailing with Maverick, Goose, and Meghan. You produce some excellent videos that always entertain and inform. I always look forward to both Sailing Doodles and Flying Doodles...and now your new podcast format. I don’t think most viewers can fully appreciate the amount of work that it takes to produce the quality of videos you share. Good Luck with your new to you monohull.

Best of luck to you! I am a medically retired commercial pilot which initially drew my attention to your activities. Sad to see Laura depart but could definitely feel tension in the later videos. So I wasn’t to surprised. I hope she does well for herself. Your handling of the situation has been top notch. Looking forward to your next adventures.
It's a shame that you are Laura split but you both knew what was right for you. Things don't always work out and I was very impressed that you were so stand up with the fact that when the cameras are off, things are NOT always so pleasant. You are an honest dude Bobby. You said what had to be said and did not hold back or act like there was one at fault over the other. Well done Bobby. Good luck to Laura. But you never know, maybe some day. Sometimes the second time around is the finisher / winner.
Its true Bob, you need to show the good and the bad, especially with you and Taylor. Don’t paint the picture that everything is rosy only to leave the viewers flat. Love the new boat! And glad the doodles are back! You are a great narrator and need to have both the podcasts (which are easier for you) as well as the live action day to day action. Hopefully Taylor will not be the ditzhead that Laura was and will be portrayed not as T&A but a more significant part of the actually sailing!
Bobby, you did handle this with the utmost class. Odd how much we viewers can get wrapped up in your video lives. I do have to say that it has been a little tense watching those last episodes know the end was nearing. But I do feel better about all of this after watching this vid. I have been watching many of Laura's new adventures too. Breakups do suck, but they often lead to the next adventure in life. Best of luck to both of you.

You are a man with so much class! So glad I found your channel. My wife and I are close to selling our house and 10 acres! We plan on living in our nice 5th Wheel camper. My first choice is buying a Sailboat but age makes that impossible. We, all that said, you will get along great and the new crew member is great!
I'm commenting 4 yrs after this video. Did not know Laura, but this break up announcement was handled well. Also assuming student loan and helping her get established in her new life seems a class act.

Your dream, my son paid for his ex girlfriend university fees for 8 years and she moved on he never lost just gained life experience from it, move on Bob if the shoe was on the other foot would you be so lucky.

Well done. You were the first sailing show I started watching and it was way before Laura. Don’t get me wrong, she was wonderful and do watch her channel as well. Laura has a wonderful and contagious personality and I am sure she will do fine. Sorry things did not work out for the two of you but such is life. Great to hear that you are taking care of her student loans etc., way to man up!
I was impressed how you picked yourself up after your flying career was taken away, but hey, what a wonderful new life it has given you. I think you have some of the best drone shots out there and have always been impressed with the knowledge you have shared. Continued success and to more of the Sailing Doodles, I can’t wait to see the pups roaming all over the place.
i honestly don't understand how two people can be on a boat alone for days on end and not get sick of each other... love the new format. Mics sound great... the little switcher is a cool addition as well...I'm an AV geek and those little additions make a huge difference on the product... keep at it, Sir!
