i love it! i remember hiking the eastern side of the sierra`s between carson city nv. and lake tahoe, coming across a still in use basque sheepheerders cabin similar to yours . kind of post n beam w/metal roof. but all the side panels were canvas rollups.. there was a plaque out side with the name of the family and the date of the cabin 1905 i think, but over 100 yrs. old like yours ,built to last... great job guys...
Thank you for the info. I love the country. I once had a country house up in Catskill N.Y. Me and my wife and family had some of the best times up there. But I had to sell it because of a bad injury that left me with no income for 3 years. Well where getting back on our feet again and hope some day I can once again buy a country place. Thanks for the video I love watching snow storms and stuff in the wilderness. Tony W.
+candy canne Im up here right now for deer hunting and we had a pretty nice storm come through last night. It went from brown to white very fast. It will be in the next video I will post sometime next week. Thank you. Joe
that is so beautiful as long as I don't have to get into it much... lol but I love to see the trees covered in snow and the ground. sorry you got snowed in.
+Christina Henry Getting snowed in was the fun part lol. As long as that wood stove is going its nice and cozy and the view is amazing. You have really never experienced silence until you walk out in knee deep snow on a cold winter morning with no wind. Its deafeningly quiet. Thank you. Joe
I agree, growing up I loved to be in the woods. And there is never a silence like you can get there. I is not totally quiet, such as the water running in the creek (lake), the winter wildlife making their noises. So peaceful and so beautiful. Much better with a loved one, but great by yourself sometimes.
Hey thank you for the videos they really bring me back to when i had the house. Im sorry to hear about your divorce I hope things work out for you. Thank you Tony W.
looked like it did here a week or so ago. hope everything went well for you. I am jsut now getting internet backup storm knocked everything out here for over 24 hours
That was i nice cabin, by the lake and everything, I love the winter but it will soon be over now, to bad. You make great videos. Best Regards /NorthSurvival (of sweden).
Your channel is a very recent find, and an instant sub. Nice! I love the breadth of things you cover, you're a lot like me (just more energetic), so the vids are easy watches. I do have a question about the tent that I don't seem to be able to figure out by myself. OK, you build a platform and erect a tent over it - understood from many days up north dealing with MUD for a floor in a tent. Then you proceed to build, with wood, all the interior, and a roof, and it's now a "cabin-ish" sort of thing. Why do you not just build a cabin to begin with? No disrespect intended by this question, I just don't understand. I lived in AK and WA for a number of years, and I envy you all having real winters. Sincerely, From Kentucky.
Looks like this winter is going out like a lion since it came in like a lamb. Well, Joe you were complaining about there being very little snow a while back so this should make up for it. LOL! Where I am today the winds are howling up to 55 MPH or 90KM/H using metric system. Take care buddy!
@JoeandZachSurvival I completely agree with you, if it's winter it should be snow, and lots of snow, this winter has been really bad here in Sweden also, the fall lasted into the end of december and the winter came and went quickly. But now it's just to look forward to summer and all that belongs to it. /NorthSurvival.
Nothing better than having 3 day's worth of groceries and no place to go! That's a great place to wait out the storm. Go back inside and throw another log on fire and read a good book.
Dul hanifah We get 70s and 80s and even a few 90s in the summer and the winter sometimes can drop to 30 below or more but that is the extreme. we average around 60 inches of snow in the winter.
We deer hunt up here too, but we typically use a rifle, the reason why we have slugs is during deer season we have a shotgun sitting out with the slugs nearby that way if a deer walks near the tent we can shoot it
Joe runs a generator for lights and power. It's about 100 feet away from the tent so you never hear it. Heat is solely supplied by the wood stove. He runs a pump for the shower off a car battery.
My boyfriend left me alone in the cabin to look for help. We had been snowed in for several nights with signs of anyone. Not soon after he left there was a heavy knock at the door. Thinking that it was my boyfriend. I ran to the door only wearing panties and t-shirt, opened the door and to my surprise stood 3 big men staring down at me. Suddenly they barged in taking shelter from the storm. Needless to say. Shelter wasn't the only thing they took that night. All Night.
Unfortunately, I enjoy reading other subs' comments. Not any more! Why some people have to behave in such a way is beyond me. I'm no prude, nor am I anyone's judge. I've learned in life that there's a time and place for certain things, but not every time and every place.
I would have a nice big pot of deer meat stew or deer chili or muskrat stew with homemade bread big pot of coffee oh yeah something i dream of before i ever leave this earth.
I am down in Louisiana right now and have been for about 2 months. Yesterday it was 90 degrees out. Its almost time to head back to Minnesota. Thanks Charlie. Joe

I just had to watch it again, I saw it when you first posted it, and I love the idea of being snowed in!
Now come on. We all know you were looking for the first excuse to stay just a little bit longer :--)

Nothing better than having 3 day's worth of groceries and no place to go! That's a great place to wait out the storm. Go back inside and throw another log on fire and read a good book.
I love winter.
Wow That freaking cool..I live in malaysia,we dont deal with sort of weather...what the temperature are average..?
Dul hanifah We get 70s and 80s and even a few 90s in the summer and the winter sometimes can drop to 30 below or more but that is the extreme. we average around 60 inches of snow in the winter.
How many acres do you own over there?
i woulda took 3 more days off work an went ice fish. how far from ely mn are you.

I noticed that you had a box of rifled slugs next to your weather station, what are those for?
We deer hunt up here too, but we typically use a rifle, the reason why we have slugs is during deer season we have a shotgun sitting out with the slugs nearby that way if a deer walks near the tent we can shoot it
oh nice! great vid! have you guys ever gotten a deer that way?
No we have not yet. Maybe someday though. It is also for predators especially if we have the dogs up . bears, wolfs, you just never know
I woould like to know how you have power?
Joe runs a generator for lights and power. It's about 100 feet away from the tent so you never hear it. Heat is solely supplied by the wood stove. He runs a pump for the shower off a car battery.

Wow Zac I watch your videos all the time, this one was great. You have a beautiful place there enjoy it. Tony W
Your land, or government land?
What kind if tent us that? And how much does it weigh? Easy to erect?
Do you ever have to remove the snow from the roof?

Well, it IS a 'Tent'! But with a floor... Canvas on walls and roof. Semper Fidelis
You keep calling your camp a tent. Never seen a tent made of plywood. Why do you call it a tent?
dig way back in his video's you'll find your answer.
"Its going to be great"
That is not even in the same universe as a " Severe Winter Storm"
wouldnt call that a storm
Everyday weather in winter where I live.
Betty Kyler You should move.

My boyfriend left me alone in the cabin to look for help. We had been snowed in for several nights with signs of anyone. Not soon after he left there was a heavy knock at the door. You watch too many movies. But good story though.
