I got into reloading back in the early days of the pandemic therefore their were severe product limitations. I did my homework and went with the Redding T-7 Turret press simply because I could locate one. Initially struggled to get enough components to do any reloading. I intentionally choose the manual indexing just for simplicity. Really happy to see the recent purchase of RCBS by the Hodgdon family. Should be a big improvement.
I love my t-7 I've had it for years. It was actually a Christmas gift. I load all my PRS ammo on it
I’m sure this is a great machine RCBS makes solid stuff, have had my rock chucker for 25 yrs. But I’m so heavily invested in my 650. Great video!
XL650 is a great machine for sure
Looking forward to the next video. Love to hear your comparison to the Dillon presses, cost, function, reliability, etc. Thanks for the video. I've always enjoy how you demonstrate step by step each thing that you do. Others I've watched will breeze through their set up without explaining what or how they did things. You don't do that and it is very refreshing and appreciated. Thanks!
good to see you my friend, Rock Chucker are awesome presses.
I'm glad you like it.
Cant wait to see it in action.
The seven separate stages should be nice. You can keep the seat and crimp in separate stages and still have room for a powder check and a bullet feeder if you decide to.
Cool beans. Look forward to the next one.
Great looking press. Beautiful finish. You know as well, with reloading you can't have just one press.
Indeed
🙌 Great video. I’m looking to replace my old Lee loadmaster. Always enjoyed tinkering with it but the crappy primer system has frequently drive me nuts. Parts for this early version are difficult to find. Very interested in this press. I have resorted to using a single stage for depriming and resizing. I prime separately when having primer issues. On the Lee. I like the Lee dies, especially the factory crimp. Do mostly pistol reloading (.45 acp and 9mm) sometimes 223 rifle. The accuracy of that powder measure is critical to me. I’ll be watching..thank you.
I am curious on the powder measure as well. If it’s anything like the uniflo powder measure it will be heads and shoulders above the Dillon slide bar measure.
The lee six pack primer system is perfect. I have had 0 issues.
Nice job
Thanks!
A lot of similarities to the Hornady LNL AP, but with some improvements.
My only criticism so far is that the primer transfer bar spring rubs against the shield and mount? Seems like that could have been designed better so as not to cannibalize itself?
I will definitely take a look at that. Perhaps I can come up with a solution and pass it on to RCBS. Trust me when I say that every progressive has some qwerks to over come. Check out some of my Xl750 videos for some examples of this.
@@SquatchReloaded Thanks! I've been reloading since the mid 80's and still have my powder slinging XL650 purchased in the early 90's. Installed some aftermarket upgrades from a small business called "Snowshooze". The kit was called the "Grand Slam" performance kit and solved all of the XL650 issues. The owner's name was Mark Richardson out of Anchorage, Alaska. Don't know if he's still in business?
@peteregger7928 I have definitely heard of Snowshooze.
Redding 7
Now that Dillon wants $750 for a Square Deal B ( was $250 back in the day ), this video is timely.
I remember paying $354 or so for my 550b . Man those days are long gone unfortunately.
Wish they would send me one.
Primer insertion on this press is horrible...I have had to result to priming on another press due to how bad it is...not only do the plastic "fingers" break on the primer feed mechanism, but often time it will stick or not align the primers correctly resulting in a bad primer seat or powder spilling from cases that have recently been filled when the pressure is released...simply horrible. I use my rock chucker supreme to resize and prime and imply skip the priming step and it works well...but kinda defeats the purpose of a 7 stage progressive press.
We shall see.
For the price of this thing might as well go blue🤷 Dillons customer support is second to none
Perhaps but there has to be other options out there especially if you don’t want to go Dillon. Most all manufacturers offer very good warranties and customer service. I have never had an issue with RCBS or Redding customer support and have never gone without replacement parts for long. If price and customer support is the driving factor might as well go Lee Pro 4000 is a third of the price of Dillon and excellent customer service.
Why is everyone so obsessed with the red an blue presses, I myself like the green ones 😊 just saying.
I have multiple Blue Presses and they are great and definitely have their fan base. I grew up with watching my Grandfather reload on RCBS and they will always have spots on my reloading benches.
The answer your looking for is no , it's not . In the progressive side of reloading dillon> the rest .
Will see for sure. My current personal presses include 550BL, 2 x 550c, xL650, 2 x Xl750, RL1100, CP2000. Check out all my Dillon videos I assure you I will find the issues and offer solutions on this one.
