    It’s one this for a man to know his way around the garage, but you have some savvy tech skills as well!

      I just took a look at a few coach launch catamarans on the web. Sorry I wasnt familiar with the style. It looks cool. Luv to see what your plan/ideas are? You should make a video. Good luck again.

      Thanks! I think I'm FINALLY getting the hang of this. Now I just need to stop mubbling lol. Have fun at your boat show! My vote is for (Boats under 50k) and tie it into your videos with a "review/rating of out 10" on sleeper cabins. I'd luv to get your opinions on what you think is the BEST modern sleeper cabins in 2024. Take care

    Interesting build, my first boat was a 15.5 hourston. Was a great boat. Not sure if I misunderstand you’re explanations, but sounds like you’re mixing epoxy products with polyester resin. Poly will not bond to epoxy, but epoxy with bond to anything.
    Good luck with the build! As others have said, great editing.
    I went a different route and bought a semi rebuilt 20’ Hourston with a pod, love it. Working on an old 18’ now, 23’ deadrise should ride soft once she’s done.

      Hi, Thanks for watching and commenting. Its awesome to have another Hourston lover aboard.
      Its funny but as I am making these little videos, Im trying to convey my thoughts about my process. Sometimes it comes out a bit garbbled. I am using only polyester resin on everything up to now. Its so easy to slip and say Epoxy when reffering to Polyester resin. The first few videos I wasn't confortable yet and definately was not really consious of my slips untill to late. Im trying my best to say Polyester or just refer to it as plain Resin. That said... its all poly based so far. Thanks for noticing. I hope you/WE can get out in the boat real soon! Cheers

    Love that cat and the 70s montage. How smooth will the final product look compared to a moulded boat?

      Hi Deadfeat, thanks for watching the build. Im about 2 weeks ahead of the videos in real time. So Im just starting to think about painting the hull as I write you this. Over coffee this morning Im deciding weather to spray the hull or roll and tip it? Its been a space issue up untill now. To answer your question... I think if I spray the final product will look really good. Ill spray a marine top coat and polish it. Its all the extra fairing Im about to do over the primer thats not going to be fun but will get me pretty close to a moulded look. Cheers

    Are you concerned about getting boat registered? It doesn't have a Hull ID.

    • @RebuildProjects
      @RebuildProjects  8 месяцев назад

      Hello, thanks for watching. You are not the only one to mention that. I was going to wait untill another Tech Talk to comment on the Hull ID. BUT... no reason I can't do both. SO, when I cut up the old transom I saved the Hull ID that was embosed/intergrated/fiberglassed into the old incarnations mold/hull. I HAVE re-fiberglassed it into the new transom. I just haven't highlighted it. YET. I wasn't sure the nuances of boat hull ID restoration guidelines when I started. Ive done some homework and found that, the majority of the time, the manufacturers HIN on the boat just has to match with the boat registration. And the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has a history of my boat over the years. There is an application and inspection process to get it re-registered. Its the process specific to imported and homemade vessels. I'm 3/4 my way through the process. They want to see it finished and seaworthy. The nice guy I talked to at the DMV seemed to understand that many boat transoms get rebuild everyday. It wasn't a new issue to them. I equate it to restoring a classic car. Try to save all the OEM ID tags. That said, I'll let everyone know once Im closer to getting it registered. Thanks for the question.
