Such a fiddly but fun part of the build process! I wonder if sinking the Garmin down into the dash a bit would help keep the streamline look across the dash that you're looking for... Like if it was a bit deeper in it's little well, but at the same angle...? Not sure if that makes sense haha, but anyway hope you're having fun with it. Thanks for the sweet vids!
You may want to consider having your chart plotter in a pivot so you can change the angles. I know I’m sunny days I need to turn my plotter to almost 90• vertical or I get a terrible reflection. Really missed this series, so glad your back and havnt given up on this yet!
Thank you for your advice. I'm going to definitely take it into consideration. The glare will be especially bad with a dim screen. Thank for continuing to watch. I'm in this for the long haul. I give it to other RUclipsrs who can put out weekly videos. I'm just going to release videos as I get them done. Next is coming soon!
Keep it basic. It’s starting to look like the Cyber Truck. lol I think whatever you decide it will be great. Good luck and keep the videos coming. Love watching how it’s turning out.
Thats awesome. Well I can't rightly make it a member of the "downside" lol. I need to embide some of "the schwartz" into it and get positive and look at the "upside". Lol. Where is master "Yogurt" when you need him? Lol Thanks for the morning laugh. Spaceballs was a childhood favorite. Im going to watch it again this weekend. Maybe Ill get some console inspiration? Cheers
Great stuff! Love the idea of a black acrylic dash face, that is a keeper. I would suggest keeping shapes simple, and have flat vertical sides on the helm top cover. That should harmonize more with the gunnel shape and existing angles on the boat, instead of fighting with it. Another point is that it wouldn't practically or esthetically interfere with the cabin hatch. I have a steeper angle on mine, approx. 70 degrees from horizontal. And my helm is similarly built to yours(except no top cover, as I have a half cabin setup so no need for it), but as others are pointing out a pivot might be more beneficial..
Hi, thank you for your feedback. Im cutting up cardboard right now. And just made a mock up with your suggestion of 70 degrees. I LIKE IT! I really appreciate your ideas. I think im finally going in the right direction now. Cheers!
Instead of the console facets being convex, I would make them concave. They would shield the instruments better from spray and glare, seeing as how you are going to use a glossy black. Also, idea #3.
I apologize, it's piddling, but "shroud?" One concern about your cardboard mock-up is that you took a small, thin screen and turned it into a huge monument. Another concern is that I would take the screen outside and see what angle doesn't reflect the sky, impacting visibility of displayed information. But that would all hinge upon the height and distance of the captain's chair in relation to the screen. Me personally, I take time off from stuff like this when I lack certainty. Weeks even. I've learned to wait for it all to make sense. Usually a much better idea comes up. It's a gamble. EDIT AGAIN: Forget all that. Make the screen pivotable. On your first trip on water, set it, lock it, forget it.
Thank you for the advice. Wise and taken well. Im going to take the next week and make several iterations to make the best desicion to progress. Thanks
Your music choices this episode were great 😎
Awesome dude! I like #1 and #5.
Coming along! 🤙

Thanks for the positive feedback. Lol, it is starting to lean a bit Cybertruckesque. Time for me to channel more DeLorean than Elon.
I like 1. 2 looks like dark helmet from spaceballs.

Thank you, I like the concave idea.
I like the first set up two is a bit big
Thanks
Tilt wheel is worth making. #3 , make it adjustable.
I think so too. It's going to take some creativity to make it work. But I think I can do it. THANKS

Thank you Sir. Not piddly at all. My mistake.
