  • It’s time to take the plunge!
The benefits of cold water swimming or wild swimming range from the physical, it boosts the immune system to the mental, it gives you an extreme dopamine boost. I love cold water swimming in Scotland. Wild swimming has become huge in the uk. Cold water swimming solo is a great way to get outside and on a microadventure.
During a divorce and a breakup or separation, it’s important to take care of yourself. You have to value and love yourself. It may seem as though self-care doesn’t exist outside of Instagram sometimes but it does! Real self-care is not as glamorous as a long bath with chocolate and wine but looking out for your physical and mental health is so important.
We all need to take care of ourselves and ask ourselves how we’re feeling especially during challenging times where you may be experiencing heartbreak. Your mental health can become worse but it can also get better. Wild swimming is just one of many fantastic activities that you can take part in to give yourself a mental health boost.
It can be terrifying to try new things especially if you are used to always having someone else by your side. Support can take many shapes and forms, as a breakup coach I will help you take action and find the activities that push you out of your comfort zone and to help you find happiness alone.
Do you have any activities that brighten your mood, let me know in the comments below.

What a sunset, beautiful scenery and thoughtfulness. I definitely find on a bad day the hardest part is pushing yourself out the door, I know it will help to be outside, but that initial effort to get up and go can seem impossible. But often so worth it.

It is so difficult to do on those bad days! But it really does make all the difference, as you know! Thanks for your lovely comment and continued support! 😊 x

Hi Fiona. I have had so many dark days in the last 5 years since my divorce. I have sought help online & vlogs by people like yourself are an immense comfort. Nothing beats getting out into nature though. Covid has exaggerated the problems but with easing of restrictions I can get back to the Lakes & up to Scotland from my home in Co Durham to walk in the hills. You have said so many things that I am feeling & have felt. You are gorgeous & can be anything you want to be & thank you for being an inspiration to others. Looking forward to sharing your journey xx

Thank you Michael. Yes it is great to be able to travel around Scotland once more and I'm looking forward to adventures that are a bit further afield! The outdoors really is the best thing for you when you are feeling low. Thank you for sharing your own experiences. All the best 😊

Almost threw my entire professional life I felt imposter syndrome, thinking that today I will be found out for having absolutely no idea what I was doing. Life taught me that everyone is in the same boat. As I get older, I think less of what others think of me and I started living in the present.
Fiona your content is uplifting, it's giving me a mindset to get out of my comfort zone. Not every vlog need be about the spectacular, sometimes the words will do wonders for someone out there, and that cool. Thank you for sharing x

Thank you, you are so right! As a breakup and divorce coach I have many clients that struggle with these same emotions so I felt it was important to share my own experiences of it and show how I cope when I feel like that. Thank you for your continued support, your comments mean so much to me 😊

Nothing better than getting outside and enjoying nature when you're in a funk. And you're right some days are good and some are bad but how you respond makes all the difference in the world.

wow, beautiful place. just going to start by saying, proud of you for doing what you're doing. i used to love wild swimming but now i've got the story just like yours, and gave up on alot of things in life. just wanted to say, well done and hope your still going strong. why is it easy to give the right advice but so hard to take your own advice. hope its helped you find the peace you need.

It is so very hard to get out the door but it gets easier with practice, you just have to put one foot in front of the other and switch your mind off until you’re out there. Sorry to hear you’ve gone through similar things to myself. In the same way I do hope that you use this to get back into doing the things you used to love doing. Take care.

The end that manking fear so much from birth is the abandonment that took place where there is no warmth, no love or companionship, just solitude. No one should fall into that, so...Just move. Go places, visit friends and family, take long walks and keep up the good work.
