      Marvin Gaye was one of the all time great singers . Maybe you're too young to remember , but back in those days singers and bands usually lip and instrument synced to their recordings on tv shows . One of the reasons was most television shows didn't have the electrical capacity and hardware or the budgets for real live singing and bands playing live.

      You said that you “don’t understand why tragedy is at the center of these talented people’s lives”, the answer is simple, people that are careless in life, just don’t live long! Being talented in one area, singing, but being careless, foolish and not cautious is so sad. Marvin Gaye, was a very careless man, Sam Cooke was a very careless man, and so was Luther Vandross. All 3 of these great singers died before their time, why, because of the bad decisions they made, chasing sorry woman, with a wife at home. Chasing drugs, when a drug did not get them to the top or Chasing carnal and fleshly desires, and that my friend is why they die before their time

      @jackjules7552 3 года назад +16

      @@robertbuchanan8736 I don't know where you get your "facts." Marvin did not die because of carnal desires. Marvin had just come off a long and exhausting tour. As soon as he arrived home Marvin was shot by his father stemming from an argument about the way his father was treating his mother. There was also an argument over an insurance policy which seemed to aggravate the argument.

    Marvin Gaye & The Four Tops hold the distinction of doing every single Rock & Roll Show that was on TV in the 1960's at the time. American Bandstand, It's "Sister" Show Where The Action Is, Hollywood a Go Go, Hullabaloo, Shebang, (another Dick Clark Show hosted by Casey Kasem, who is also a Detroit Native), Shindig, Shivaree and The Hollywood Palace. The Lloyd Thaxton Show is also a very important Show. He was the Co-Founder of Tiger Beat Magazine that debuted in 1965 that's the only Teen Magazine from the 1960's that outlived 16, Dig, and Teen Beat where The Righteous Brothers were on the First Cover. In 1970 it created the First African American Teen Magazine Right On, that featured The Jackson Five ion The first Cover. As many of you know it featured Ben E King (RIP), whose Stand By Me is now part of History since it was played at Harry & Megan's Wedding.

    That colonial style furniture is going to make a comeback. I feel lucky to have seen him in a small club in OC MD 1968. Front table and he wore a great white suit.

    ONE OF THE BEST MOTOWN RECORDS THAT IS EVER MADE, GREAT MARVIN, GREAT FUNK BROTHERS, THE DETROIT RECORDS ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE LA YEARS, IT WAS A PITY GORDY DID MOVE TO THAT CITY!!!!

      I agree the Detroit recordings had more substance and spontaneity the la recordings were more trendy political and a little more diverse but I prefer as an example my girl over cloud nine
