- Drivers of the new BMW 3 Series are also able to rely on the comprehensive support of the optional Park Distance Control (PDC) with sensors at both the front and rear provides visual and acoustic signals to prevent collisions with obstacles. The optional Parking Assistant goes further still by automatically selecting spaces either parallel or perpendicular to the road, and manoeuvring into them. The system takes care of steering the car, accelerating and braking, plus - on models fitted with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission - making the necessary gear selections, too. The Parking Assistant can now also be used for automatically manoeuvring out of parallel parking spaces. Here you have the real-life test of Parking Assistant Plus in the new BMW 3 Series (G20).
Another of the Parking Assistant’s features is the Reversing Assistant, which helps the driver to exit parking spots or manoeuvre when space is limited. The Reversing Assistant offers the highly convenient option of automated reversing in confined spaces or situations where the driver does not have a clear view, such as multi-storey car parks or entrances to courtyards. To do this, it stores the steering movements for any section the car has just driven forward along at no more than 36 km/h (22 mph). The system is then able to reverse the vehicle for distances of up to 50 metres by steering it along exactly the same line it has just taken when moving forward, while all the driver has to do is operate the accelerator and brake pedals and monitor the area around the car. The Reversing Assistant can back the car up at a maximum 9 km/h (5.5 mph).

Great video and thanks for posting. Have you ever had the unfortunate situation where the kerb is misjudged and the alloys have become damaged? Like another commenter I'm a bit scared to try this out on my G20 as the hassle of getting them repaired puts me off. Also the last portion of the video with the reversing assistant in that narrow sloped road was seriously impressive but again it seemed so close I was gritting my teeth. Kudos.
Asystent cofania dziala po wylaczeniu samochodu? Tzn wjezdzam gdzies, zalatwiam swoje sprawy, wracam do auta i je odpalam. Wycofa sam w takiej sytuacji?
If I’m correct you need to click on the display to confirm the spot and then hold the “P” button at least this is how my car is set up. BMW X3 2021

Thats proper. My Volvo XC60 still requires me to break and select gears with instructions on the display. You ended up not using the system because you ended up doing it slower.
Yeah most other ordinary brands require you to control the throttle and brakes. This is completely autonomous and is expected from a premium brand like BMW so well done to them

I find the parallel parking system on the G20 to always veers towards the kerb. Half the time it would've directly scratched the wheel rims if I hadn't intervened. Is there any way to prevent this?

Important things to notice here - 1st parking space is too wide - in real life they are much more narrow (much less space between cars) and auto parking option takes forever to park, and 2nd thing - even bigger concern - it doesn't see the curb!!! It's not detecting it, so if curb was a bit closer, your automatic parking would cost you 1000 eur minimum...

O modelo 320 parte do preço de uns 225 mil até 260 mil em suas 3 versões. A intermediária tem valor por volta de 240 mil reais...
I have a 330i m sport 2019-2020 with Idrive7 with side and reverse parking assistant. The two modes do not work correctly. They scrape the wheels on the pavement and the reverse is totally silly. I can hardly get in reverse until the end, it always crashes at the beginning. Tomorrow I'm going to make a movie and send it to BMW technicians to see if the system malfunctions. This video will be posted on youtube.

I bought a g20 in end January and still never used the parking assistant or the reverse assistant , a part from the fact I’d say I’m pretty good at parking, somehow I’m scared the car f it up and I end up with exactly what you wrote here - scraped my beautiful alloys -

The first one was too close to the curb for me.
They always show such wide parking spaces. I need something tighter.
It looks like it is wide but for most drivers it isn't. It is obvious that from the other side of the road such parking space looks wide.
Not really my friend. I tested that myself in 320d xDrive (pretty much same car as on the video) and the car did the reverse parallel parking in a pretty tight spot. I mean: it was definitely doable without any assistant, but would require lots of attention and carefulness.
How does the car know if it is to park in horizontal or vertical position? When i click the button that sais to the car that i wish to park then it puts it self according to the way the others are positioned?

The video shows what happens when the car parks automatically but doesn’t tell you how to do it!
I disagree with you! For example: at 01:07 you see I pressed the park button, the next things you have to do are clearly showed. Also: whole instruction you have on the computer display.
