I bought my TX-SR806 12years ago. I started to have the HDMI switching issue and found this RUclips video. This is an excellent video and shows how to repair a high frequency HDMI noise issue but it can also be used to resolve the famous HDMI switching issue. Thanks
For those who want to repair the HDMI issue:
    1. Purchase 13 x Panasonic 100 mf 10 volt capacitors. Available on Amazon or other online stores.
    2. There are 8 capacitors on the underside of the board and 5 on the topside of the graphics board which need to be replaced.
    3. Make sure you are grounded and use an anti static mat with a wrist strap on your arm (really important).
    4. Watch the video. Multiple tips which are very helpful.
    5. Remove the case screws on the LHS and RHS and the HDMI port screws.
    6. Watch the video again
    7. Remove the graphics board (2 x cables) and edge connectors on the RHS by first removing the silver screw on the other board and then pull out from the left hand side to free the edge connectors.
    8. Mark the 13 capacitors which need to be removed and remove them exactly the way NorCal says, plus old capacitor leads.
    9. Cut the new capacitor legs so that the capacitors are fairly close to the board.
    10. Note capacitor polarity (really important), minus to the flat side I the diagram on the board at each capacitor location. Apply new solder as you I stall the new capacitors.
    11. Reinstall the board and connectors and use a tie wrap to hold the black cable back to the board.
    12. Enjoy your reconditioned receiver and thank NorCal.

Unbelievable!!! I've been leaving my amp on so its always warm to avoid the noise on cold startup. Then it progressed to the point where different channels would stop producing sound. Turn it on and off and all 7.1 channels would come back on for awhile. Ordered 20 100uf 10v capacitors, you only need 13 for this model, replaced all the 100uf 4v caps on both sides of the board and waalaa... like a brand new amp. I do recommend removing the tails of the old caps off the board as if your lazy and leave them in trying to solder over them they will stick to the soldering iron and drop back onto the board possibly causing a short. Thanks for this video!!!

Just completed the repair. Huge thanks for the video, super clear and concise. In my 806, I was getting terrible digital noise along with difficulty switching HDMI sources. I replaced all 100uF 4V caps and this baby's good as new. Saved me $600-700 on a new receiver, norcal, you rock.

I want to thank you for this. I purchased 10 capacitors and replaced them per your video. I never did this before. Not only is the sound crystal clear, My HDMI problem also was fixed (my HDMI switching was bad) I found with Onkyo over this and they claim my year was the year before the ones that qualified for the repairs (bullshit). So im a happy person thanks to you. Great video!

Saved the day at my house! My old Integra DTR-6.9 had the same issue and the same board, so I just followed along and had great results, I just had to pirate a cap out of an old modem and make the swap. Thank you for taking the time to make a great video to educate the masses!

Thanks to you & all the other good folks that have put up info re theses amps. My TX-SR806 had the HDMI switching issue so bought the 13 100uF 16V electrolytic caps from Jaycar & set about it. Was lucky (if you call it that) that the previous amp owner had also had this repair done so the smd ones were already replaced so I just unsoldered all the bad ones & put the replacements in. Woohoo! Off it goes again.

I don't suppose you have any info on a NAD C355BEE - mine looks absolutely pristine inside, (top & bottom of board) not a hint of anything being hot or burnt, however when the power switch at the back is turned on, there is a click, then a few seconds later a second click, then nothing, not even the led on the front is lit. :-(

I was having problems with HDMI switching. Some inputs worked, but my Chromecast (working fine on my TV) for some reason did not.
Anyway, I used this video to replace 13x 100uf capacitors, just to make sure, and it worked!!!
Thank you so much for this excellent video, you saved my receiver (and my bankaccount).

Thanks, I ordered 20 from Digikey today. I ordered 7 extras just in case. I went to two different stores today in Houston that I thought would have what I needed (Electronic Parts Outlet and Frys), but neither store had enough caps. I need a bare minimum of 13 and each store had 4 or 5. I'll leave an update after I get the parts and attempt the repair.

Thank you for helping so many people with Onkyo receivers. I have a ‘no sound’ issue on my TX-DS797. I’ve tried different sources but there is no sound from speakers and headphones. I have also cleared settings. Could the capacitors be the issue or something else?

Thanks for the great video! I have the TX-SR806 as well. Mine is having the HDMI switching problem. This is apparently from faulty capacitors as well. I'm an I.T. guy, but have not really done any soldering in my work. Can you please recommend which capacitors (brand/model) and what type of solder to use. Also, would you recommend the capacitors that are rated for higher temperatures, since many people seem to claim that this problem is occurring because of how much heat the 806 produces.

Excellent video. I have found a few oscillating regulators like that before. A quick diagnosis with a meter usually finds the output 5-10% lower than nominal. If I find one like that I usually check with the scope. What did the 3.3V reg measure on a DMM, if you got the chance to do this?

Onkyo TX-SR805 is making an odd chirping noise that pings around the speakers...only does it when im listening to dolby digital plus signal from firestick when watcjing netflix or prime...
it runs Very hot even when listing at low volumes ,though i hear the heat is common to these beasts...i put a fan over the right rear quadrant, looking at it from the front...this dropped temps a huge degree...also ran it with no lid and again it barely got warm...that lid Really traps alot of heat! anyway, i know others have had the chirps that ping pong around the speakers only during a digital feed thru hdmi..likely the hdmi board is overheating...curious if you found a specific component to be the cause? the fan keeps it at bay...any feed back appreciated!

The reciever suddenly stopped all sound. And I was wondering how to troubleshoot the problem, so I can find the faulty part of my board. Do oyu think it might be only a capacitor issue when everything else works perfect except for no audio. Both sub and main speaker channels are silent, and I have checked that the speakers work. And I have the schematics of the board and a cheap oscilloscope.

I think the customer had the unit stacked with something on top of it so years of heat shrank the tubing. If the caps were 105's they should be ok. I did a power output test to 100W X2 with no hum or ripple. Unless they are bulged then in audio application at 60 hz I have not had any problems

On that same circuit board, can you tell me what the voltage is for the three 470 M85 capacitors on the left hand side. i had the same noise problem as in your your video and replaced the capacitors and the noise disappeared. Still had the problem of the receiver not registering the hdmi input signals, so I replaced all of the 100 UF capacitors on both faces of the board. Unfortunately, i accidentally tugged on one of the 470 M85 capacitors and knocked it loose and now I am not getting any sound to come through. I am hoping that replacing this capacitor will resolve the issue. Thanks!

My Onkyo TX-SR803 has a similar problem, it only makes some strange low pitch noise and starts rising to high pitch, it will only do it when i first turn it on and it will go away after about 5 minutes, will this mean it will require the same repair?

Onkyo and Denon. If you look around the internet how many problems of sound and video in series ! their receivers are showing, and this companies don't make a recall, dont give any attention or respect to their consumers. The truth is that they don't care about any of that, they just want your money. I´ll never buy another receivers of this companies, and for sure I will tell to my friends to do the same.

Good job! Don't like the Onkyo's. They place that HDMI board right on top of the regulated power supply board; dries out those crappy caps and makes them fail even sooner. They do it on purpose. Bastards. They're not even nice to you on the phone. Yamaha and Denon-Marantz are much nicer people to deal with.

Is it in protect mode? Do you have a DC offset on any of the channels. Start by looking there
