You know, I've got to say that "my ears" are more attracted to the Ash sound. I like the Cubanos, I like the Mahogany, but there's something about the Ash drums that resonate more with me. At any rate, you can't go wrong with Moperc! And that's why I am ordering a set of the Ash Tropicals this summer!

I did enjoy your comparison demonstration. My take on comparing the Custom CUBANO Ash drum with the Tropical Ash drum with slightly different skins displayed the difference between an older drum being properly broken in versus a newer drum which still needs to be played more in order be broken in. I do feel that the construction of the Custom CUBANO’s drum with the added bands adds an enhancement to the acoustics of the shell making it a better sounding drum.
What would make the Tropical Ash drum more attractive, would the selling price being significantly lower than the Custom CUBANO’s with a comparatively similar sound to the Custom CUBANO drum.
I trust that this make some sense to you, as close as these drums sound to each other. To me it’s as comparing a violin made by the master in the 18th century to a violin made in our present day and age.
Thank you for your wonderful insight and it warms by heart that these drums are going to be used for the praise and worship of our God !

With the EQ sound even, without yeah they need to be broken in. I have the Giovanni Palladium series and the super tumba took a while to free up.

The Ash sounds lively also especially when you EQ them. But yes Cubano are well broken in and your technique is working them tones are money.

Those nats sound really great, very smooth with plenty of pop. I swear I kind of preferred them to the cubanos, but maybe I am biased 😄🇻🇪 ❤

Eric, it's like comparing apples to apples. If the tropicals were broken in, I believe the only difference in tone would be due to different heads. But let's face it...all Mopercs sounds great!
