  • About two minutes into actual troubleshooting and I've found one of the fuse killers. The other transistor in the affected channel was also shorted. The drivers were fine and all that it needed was a set of new output transistors and a fuse. I used MJ21195 (PNP) and MJ21196 (NPN) as my replacement transistors.

Hi do you think if customer replaced fuse after outputs are short would have damaged more parts?

If they use the same type and rating fuse and only do it once, the risk of additional damage is low. With that said, if the fuse has blackened, the new fuse will certainly blow so I don't bother fitting a new one until I complete repairs.

The screen on mine doesn't light up what could that be?

The TO-220 package transistor on the headphone board is probably bad. Also, check the display connections, especially at each end as these are the cathode connections and the entire display will go dark if you lose the cathode.
