I've been using this playlist for 8 years so far. Started using it during my games modeling course at college 2013-2015, then all through my 3d modeling degree at uni 2015-2018, and continued to use it since then whilst at work as a 3D artist. This playlist has become the theme tune of my career.
Obviously a lot of work has gone into the making of this compilation: over 5 hours of listening to music, choosing the best songs, arranging them in order, and finding pictures for each song. This deserves a lot more praise and views than it has. Good job. P.S. Another thing I like is that the title is not in all caps like some compilations, and it is nice having a regular title for this.
Not only are you familiar with five hours worth of any music, but five hours worth of VIDEO GAME music, and from dozens of games, selected tracks of which are ALL melodic, moving, and outright excellent (so you have to be musically attentive and experienced), and you needed access to all these tracks, needed to take time to label the start time for each one, as well as each track's name, game, and COMPOSER, not to mention the editing, rearranging, and choice work that was involved!!! Only half a million views? I for one commend you, and hope for a lot of great stuff from you and for you in the future. Awesome, awesome job.
Happy belated 10th birthday, playlist! I can't believe you turned 10 yesterday. Babies born the day you released are learning complex math and talking back to their parents. That's insane.
It’s fantastic because a lot of the music in this playlist is literally my childhood. Metroid prime, Xenoblade, prince of Persia, ratchet and clank, halo, I could absolutely go on. I just recently found this and it’s my new go to for background music while I work!
Nice taste bro, got a feels overload when I heard Astral Observatory. I loved that as a kid. It's crazy how some people still think video games are a waste of time and have no value. This is art. A big portion of this playlist could be played on a classical music radio station and no one would be able to distinguish it from the other music. I mean the insane amount of detail and work that goes into the storyline and world and soundtrack of games like Zelda and Skyrim is just amazing. Modern games are to old arcade games as the Mona Lisa is to cave paintings.
jaientenduunevoix726 Yes, I said the same thing, I dont watch much tv, I almost all everyday studyng, but also in my brake times, I play video games, with my friends in online, But the most thing I do is go to a channel well they have a channel with smoth electro music and spa channel, I was saing why dont they make a channel with games musical and epic music, because they are the best.

I've been putting this music on before I go to bed for about a week now and I've been falling asleep in about 10 minutes or less which is AMAZING! I have intense Insomnia and this stuff helps me so much! Thank you!
I've been doing this kind of thing for years. I have a playlist 9GB long on an older ipod. Been mostly Final Fantasy and Resident Evil but damn it helps on those nights when the insomnia is bad.
Fintile 2012 lmao, same here. listening to FF soundtracks while trying to sleep :) i had resident evil in it too, but not that long, trying to sleep at the boss themes is kinda... weird ^^
It's sad that people have all the video game music in the world at their fingertips -- including all these great compilation videos organized and timestamped for our pleasure -- yet so many of them just bitch about it. It's mind blowing to me. In this case, someone puts together a five hour playlist of quality, relaxing video game music, and a good portion of the comments are complaints about what wasn't included. Well, what do you want him to do? Extend it to a 50000 hour playlist so he can include every possible song that someone might want? Even then people would STILL point out the shit that supposedly needs to be on the list.
People on the internet, for the most part, are entitled little shitbags. They wanna try living in North Korea, they'd soon be grateful for their free access internet!
You shouldn't have wasted your comment on such people, my friend. It's just how the world of the spoiled is made; no matter how hard you try, there will always be those that won't like it and complain. To those there is only one possible answer: "I'm sorry that my hard work offends you and your tastes, but there is a simple solution for your problem: if you want it to your tastes, do it yourself or pay someone to do it for you." Pisses them off, but you will keep your dignity and stand above their pety whining.
its kinda like getting mad at a fail video on RUclips for not carrying the latest Justin Bieber news... Like if you want a certain something, don't go looking for something else...
9 years and I still listen to this annually while studying, cleaning, relaxing. So many good memories with many of these games. Thank you for putting this together. It's become a regular part of my life.
Ive been listening to this since the beginning of my undergraduate career. I am now a full blown physician assistant. Thank you so much for this compilation and being able to keep it up!
I would pay big money for a DT Jackson V2 of relaxing VGM. You wont believe how much this video means to me man. Keep coming back to it after all these years, you're the best thank you.
I've been listening to this specific playlist for about six years now. It's gotten me through half of high school and now over half of college. Thank you to whoever you are DT Jackson :)
I've been using this as background music when I'm doing college work or 3D work for the past 2 years now and will probably continue coming to it throughout uni :P
May this wonderful mix of music never be removed from youtube its one of my atmospheric mixes to chill to drive to what ever the occasion. Thank you for putting an awesome mix of music together.
I listen to this when I do homework and IT'S FUCKING HEAVENLY. I mean the soothing nature of the music just gets me into the flow and within a few hours I'm done and asleep, even though I'm casually bullshitting an assignment right now... Well that's logic at it's best.
Man, people like you should stick around longer...these songs brings out the peace in anyone and reminds me why I became a gamer. So pretty of these makers...thanks for the video man.
I'm really greatful that this playlist still here, i started to use it while i was studying architecture, almost ten years later, here i am with my own office using it any chance i can. Thanks to the OP for everything, you made my stressfull times way easier
Still listening to this playlist after 8+ years. One of the GOATs. Lots of character and love was put in and I’ve discovered so many great soundtracks through it.
This is the playlist that started my dream of becoming a game developer! Now I’m in college, working on games for well-known game companies. I love this playlist!
I found this playlist when I was about 13 years old. Some of the games on here I’ve never played but there’s not a single skip here. I’m glad I found this again. Love all
this is seriously the best thing to study/do homework to. our brains are already used to this as background music, so it doesn't negatively affect your absorption of the material, but yet it gives you such a great feeling as you're working because video game music is so spectacular
Single best playlist I've ever found for studying. Have listened probably twice a month for about 8 years. Thank you so much for the focus you've brought me!
I love listening to this at work. Jobs are bullshit. (most all of them) I'd rather be curled up on my couch with some snacks and a bowl, playing the games I love. Instead, here I am pecking away at a keyboard. At least I can jam to some classic tunes. Thanks, DT Jackson!
+Richard Krzyzanski Ever tried to turn you hobby into your job? Even though its not paying off that well, I really enjoy what I am doing. I am going to spent at least 45 years working, which is more than half a mans life. So better spent time doing something you actually enjoy, then donating your life to boredom.
I have the easiest job in the world. I sell cars at a dealership that does honest business. To whine about it seems kind of selfish, but still.... I feel like we as humans aren't meant to work. it's unnatural.
+Richard Krzyzanski I'm perfectly happy to live gaming day by day, doing some odd jobs here and there and selling stuff online to get by, going out to free food places to save money for rent. It ain't much, but it beats pumping gas or flipping burgers, and perhaps once I have a working microphone I could start a let's play channel or something like that. People might dismiss my lifestyle as ''lazy'', but I don't really care :P When I actually do ''work'', this music is what fuels me :)
+Richard Krzyzanski - It is because your work isn't what you want to do. If you want to play games you can try to make it your job. Create RUclips Videos or Stream yourself. Or go in a Testing Games company that finds bugs in new games !
1:45:27 I remember as a high schooler hearing this and just crying tears of nostalgia. Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games of all time and it helped shape me into who I am today. When I heard the Temple of Time music after stepping through that portal in Twilight Princess...just wow. I stood in there for awhile just listening, :)
I've been listening to this soundtrack for a little over 2 years now in university. I started midway through my degree and now I'm studying honours. Thank you for this playlist, it has got me through a LOT of sleepless nights and long study and writing sessions!
Hexnus I disagree, i think that it can be what ever a person wants it to be. That's what makes this music so great. Just let your own imagination wander.
A deep sense of nostalgia overwhelmed me as the smash music reminded me of my elementary days with my elementary friends playing brawl and so much more
Thanks for taking the time to write out each song and it's source. I know it must have taken a lot of effort, but it really makes it easier for us to enjoy them. Thanks!
I just zoned out into a book while listening to this, amazing stuff. I loved all of the Zelda, Metroid, and Paper Mario songs; it was a perfect kind of peaceful nostalgia.

I just gotta stop by and say thank you. I listen to it when doing homework, and on my looping site(listenonrepeat) I see that I have repeated this exactly 23 times so far, which is 115 hours of solid homework. Which is...depressing. But I'm thankful nonetheless! This got me through my first year of college; now I'm hoping to continue that trend and use it for my second year! Thank you.
I first used this playlist when I was studying for my degree a couple of years ago. Now I am a graduate and I play this at work to drown out my disgusting colleagues sniffing and coughing every 2 minutes. The guy who uploaded this has no idea how grateful I am for this upload. First it gets me through university, now the world of work!
Good spirit, of excellency mind me, to good fortune, for one and for all! (Yes, "wealth is meant, to serve a need, devoid of avarice, and greed [wealth is found, inside the soul.")
Just thought I'd let you know, 6 years later and this is still my go to video for productivity time. Thanks for getting me through both the last two years of high school and all of my undergraduate studies!
Whew. I was having a pretty bad day and was looking for some way to relax, something that no form of entertainment managed to do. Then I opened this and, in all seriousness, immediately felt myself calm down. Music really is powerful.
I love this playlist; I have listened to it multiple times now. Great Job!! Though I gotta say, even though I have never played a Halo game before (never owned an Xbox), those games have some of the BEST music I have ever heard.
abuseurpublic The games are decent, I mean good but not transcending, but the lore is great, for a game that is basically revolving around shooting aliens to defend Earth. They took that very unoriginal setting and made it great. Even in the first game, by the way it begins you can tell that a lot of work was put into creating a good backstory.
And again, I find myself coming back to this wonderful compilation whilst doing some grinding. Good to see that this hasn't been taken down in all these years.
Starting using this playlist as background music at work in 2015, now im using it to sleep my baby girl 7 years later (and works fine!). Thanks for this awesome playlist.
Thank you for putting together all of these beautiful songs. I know quite some of these so it's even more enjoyable to see you liked them as well. Great for getting through monotonous letter writing and staying focused.
2:40:50, Snowpeak to Snowman, JUST an example (of so many) of how excellent this mix is. THANK YOU. Much thought went into this, apparently. I have been listening to this for over a year; it's my "work music", as I sit in my office typing reports, looking out the window, listening to memories. THANK YOU. I hope YOU, creator, read this appreciation.
I can't focus too much when I'm listening to music, nor when I've been doing work in silence for too long, but for some reason, my ultimate point of concentration is after listening to music for a while and then turning it off.
Nicolas Avila In 11th and 12th grade in Bavaria you have to write a "Seminararbeit". You can choose the major topic by selecting a course that you like, which is offered by a teacher.
This video has a very high sentimental value for me, I have seen it many times either to study or to think, I have memories of some games and people that were very important in my life. the truth when they knocked him down I felt sad and those memories are linked to this music in part it is something a little sad and beautiful to remember
This playlist has been with me for the past couple of months, supporting me through the dissertation and through exam term. It'll be with me for the next three hours at which point I have my final bachelors exam. Thank you for creating this beautiful compilation !
It's been five years since I first watched this video when doing my architecture projects. Fast forward today... I graduated from Architecture school just yesterday. This music helped me throughout my career, thanks, again, for such a wonderful compliation of videogame music.
i listen to this music when im trying to concentrate and it helps a lot, i have a lot of concentration problems and i get distracted really easily, but this helps a lot. so thank you
Now this is atmospheric music at its best! If I had music playing in the background of my life I probably wouldn't mind this stuff...I mean seriously haha, I've just been listening to it non stop. Thanks for posting it.
this is my favorite thing. i just really appreciate that the image changes with each song to the correct game/whatever it comes from and also that literally all of the music is listed with the times in the desc. bless.
Really like listening to this when i'm doing homework/chores/working just about everything. Thanks so much for putting together this video that brings back so many memories.... Just ignore the people that keep complaining about how certain stuff should be in here they probably don't realize how much work you put into making this.
I just started to learn for my test tomorrow and this video really helps. Thank you! I think, from now on, i'll always listen to this while studying. :)
I love this video. I've gotten so much work done listening to this and fell in love with songs from games I've never played or heard of. THanks for the time and effort you guys put into this!
MrDeku73 If you have an Xbox, you should try it :). Relatively speaking, I'm new to the series. It has a really epic storyline, memorable characters, fun gameplay, badass music, and beautiful locations. I'd start with Reach, then go to CE from there.
MrDeku73 Don't worry! I have a PS3 and have Destiny! Martin makes songs on the game! Like search for: Destiny Soundtrack or my favorite song from the game is: Destiny - Excerpt from the Ecstasy.
If you don't play the games, listen to the soundtracks. Halos 1,2,3,ODST, and reach have amazing soundtracks! Martin O'donnel and Micheal Salvatori are amazing artists!
Wow... what a wonderful collection... I am sculpting while I listen and it's just divine. I love the variety of games you have here also... Thank you so much :)
I've been using this playlist for 8 years so far. Started using it during my games modeling course at college 2013-2015, then all through my 3d modeling degree at uni 2015-2018, and continued to use it since then whilst at work as a 3D artist. This playlist has become the theme tune of my career.
It's also incredible to see the creator still seeing and liking these comments 8 years after it's been posted.
That’s great man, go you dude!! :D
i love you. just know that my lil nigga
wow... I'm literally using this playlist for my modelling assignment in college right now too man. Good playlist!
What an incredible recommendation. I never played AC, I was leaving… I think I’ll stay.
10 years later and this is still the best relaxing video game music playlist on RUclips
No kidding! Definitely want to see another one made soon. Then I can get a playlist together to get me through an entire work day 😁
The amount of Metroid Prime music there is makes me very very happy. Some of the best VG music of all time imo.
***** Silent Hill has the most eerie and beautiful sound tracks i've ever heard.
Phendrana drifts is just magical!

Oh, for some reason I haven't seen a title in all caps, yet
The dude made none of this music and the video is monetized, i think he’s doing ok lol

So do i
This makes Calculus enjoyable :O
Also doing architecture projects!
Architecture for the win! :D *goes back to rhino rendering for tomorrows review*
Tamer Khalil I FEEL YOU!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
hard to believe 5 hours has gone past every time I get to the end of this.
+Richard Krzyzanski I agree but I'm a student and I prefer to have a job than to study T.T
People might dismiss my lifestyle as ''lazy'', but I don't really care :P
When I actually do ''work'', this music is what fuels me :)
+Richard Krzyzanski - It is because your work isn't what you want to do. If you want to play games you can try to make it your job. Create RUclips Videos or Stream yourself. Or go in a Testing Games company that finds bugs in new games !
Getting me through my final college essays. Gaming without the actual gaming. Calming the nerves.
Still a go-to mix all these years later. Thank you so much!!
This was peak youtube, weird fonts, but a lot of passion for a niche audience, which has now grown significantly
I can't believe it's been 10 years now! i remember when i first found this video and it was 2 years old at that point!
I've been listening to this soundtrack for a little over 2 years now in university. I started midway through my degree and now I'm studying honours. Thank you for this playlist, it has got me through a LOT of sleepless nights and long study and writing sessions!
For myself the best music not is created by a pop star ,are created by the world of video games
Agreed, VGM is one place where music can be whatever it wants to be, not what others want it to be.
Hexnus I disagree, i think that it can be what ever a person wants it to be. That's what makes this music so great. Just let your own imagination wander.
thats more or less what i said, Music is a extension of the person who weaves it, that in turn extends to the viewers.
I find that no matter what game it is, there's always one song that I really love, regardless of what the game is.
I couldn't agree with you more. :) Video game music is so diverse and can become anything. The possibilities of video games are endless.
Still my favourite video on RUclips since 3 years...
Thank you endlessly DT Jackson,
I certify, you can fall in love with music
Nintendo games have some very calm tunes! They all remind me of childhood summers with the Nintendo systems! Nice memories!
A deep sense of nostalgia overwhelmed me as the smash music reminded me of my elementary days with my elementary friends playing brawl and so much more
I'm quite happy with how much Halo there is in this.
This video used to get me thru the last month of college semesters. Glad to have rediscovered it five years later!!
Thanks for taking the time to write out each song and it's source. I know it must have taken a lot of effort, but it really makes it easier for us to enjoy them.
Thanks!
Finally some overpowered music to listen to while I'm studying, doing homework, or programming. You're a beautiful person
I've put this on to sleep to many, many times. So much great music. Hope it doesn't get taken down. Will enjoy it while it lasts.
I've been through a lot of video game music compilations to listen to whilst I work and this is by far the best, thanks!
IT'S BACK! IT'S BACK! IT'S BACK!
Thank you thank you thank you!
I just zoned out into a book while listening to this, amazing stuff. I loved all of the Zelda, Metroid, and Paper Mario songs; it was a perfect kind of peaceful nostalgia.
Been unknowingly searching for this for the past year. Amazing stuff, thank you so much
Really digging how much Halo is on here.
+Quick Attack Films Same here. Halo 2 OST is sooooo good
+Quick Attack Films, never realized how good that soundtrack is.
same... i will watch the whole video if i have to

Things we know from this video- The compiler plays metroid, zelda, and assassin's creed. Alot.
I love this arrangement please make more!!
Congratulations!!!!!
2000000 is an awesome milestone.
This compilation is trully gold.
The best for you.
I hum throughout the entire 5 hours, this has been my favorite music compilation for 2-3 years now
This makes me want to live in a cabin in the woods as a strange hermit who swore off violence.
Faron Woods creeped the hell out of me a few years ago, otherwise I would have stayed there more often. It's so cool.
Whew. I was having a pretty bad day and was looking for some way to relax, something that no form of entertainment managed to do. Then I opened this and, in all seriousness, immediately felt myself calm down. Music really is powerful.
I love this playlist; I have listened to it multiple times now. Great Job!! Though I gotta say, even though I have never played a Halo game before (never owned an Xbox), those games have some of the BEST music I have ever heard.
dude ! you've got to try halo games it's the games with the more lore around it ! i've read the first book now starting second!
abuseurpublic The games are decent, I mean good but not transcending, but the lore is great, for a game that is basically revolving around shooting aliens to defend Earth. They took that very unoriginal setting and made it great. Even in the first game, by the way it begins you can tell that a lot of work was put into creating a good backstory.
dude seriously they r the best games i've ever played!
koopanique ^
abuseurpublic "abuseurpublic" Is your pseudo French ?
And again, I find myself coming back to this wonderful compilation whilst doing some grinding. Good to see that this hasn't been taken down in all these years.
It's back ! Thank you for making the video available again.
I didn't do anything, it disappeared and then reappeared without any input from me... oh well, at least it's back now!
Starting using this playlist as background music at work in 2015, now im using it to sleep my baby girl 7 years later (and works fine!). Thanks for this awesome playlist.
Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess are just the best games ever.
Thank you for putting together all of these beautiful songs. I know quite some of these so it's even more enjoyable to see you liked them as well. Great for getting through monotonous letter writing and staying focused.
This is a REALLY good mix, perfect for those relaxing gaming weekends, thanks OP!
Yes! Finally a place where someone acknowledges the work of Kenji Yamamoto in the Metroid Prime games.
THANK YOU. I hope YOU, creator, read this appreciation.
wow...you're amazing, some of the best video game music I've ever heard put together. Thank you so much for this :)
You've done a great a service to people by compiling this, someone will have a world changing idea while laxing or working to this.
I'm currently using it for relaxtion techniques after having a recent bad mental health patch. So its doing some good certainly ^_^
I'm so glad you put EarthBound in here, especially Snowman. I think that soundtrack has some of the most relaxing songs in it.
Finals time right now. This video will be running in the background pretty much all week.
This is a fantastic, well-thought out compilation. Thanks for taking the time to do it. ^^^
I can't focus too much when I'm listening to music, nor when I've been doing work in silence for too long, but for some reason, my ultimate point of concentration is after listening to music for a while and then turning it off.
Metroid has some of the best, most atmospheric music to ever be conceived. Absolutely amazing. This is a very good compilation.
a lot of twilight princess and mario sunshine, great choices
This mix is divine.
I love listenig to it while writing a long essay about philosophers.
Thanks a lot :)
Great background music for blitzing through projects! Thanks a million for the great effort
Thanks for the upload :) I use this all the time when I work, and it's perfect as non-intrusive ambient music.
I just found this today and it got me through a long shift. Thanks for the compilation!
Insane amount of Twilight Princess in there XD Ordon Village is so nostalgic for me
this is my favorite thing. i just really appreciate that the image changes with each song to the correct game/whatever it comes from and also that literally all of the music is listed with the times in the desc. bless.
I finished my supposed to be 5 hour long homework in an hour and a few mins. I got a D, thanks for the music! Lololol
Lyras Otaku Yep, is not only the best relaxing music, like Zelda game music, but is also beautiful :)
Lyras Otaku Summer P.E taking exam next wednesday. Finally it is going to be over!!!!!!!!!
Been listening to this while I QA my teams IT tickets. Keeps me relaxed and focused. Thank you for your hard work in putting this together.
That Assassin's Creed 2 though :D
I love this video. I've gotten so much work done listening to this and fell in love with songs from games I've never played or heard of. THanks for the time and effort you guys put into this!
I've never played Halo but the soundtracks are amazing!
MrDeku73 If you have an Xbox, you should try it :). Relatively speaking, I'm new to the series. It has a really epic storyline, memorable characters, fun gameplay, badass music, and beautiful locations. I'd start with Reach, then go to CE from there.
Primal Chieftain
I have ps3 :/
MrDeku73 Don't worry! I have a PS3 and have Destiny! Martin makes songs on the game! Like search for: Destiny Soundtrack or my favorite song from the game is: Destiny - Excerpt from the Ecstasy.
If you don't play the games, listen to the soundtracks. Halos 1,2,3,ODST, and reach have amazing soundtracks! Martin O'donnel and Micheal Salvatori are amazing artists!
Best of all time, You had 5 years did you get a chance to try halo any halo??
Thanks for this amazing playlist. Nothing better than this compilation of video games music while working on my Physics and Calculus assignments. :D
I've listened to this VIDEO so long ago, looking back at this brings nostalgia, even though I haven't played almost all of these games.
Right????
Wow... what a wonderful collection... I am sculpting while I listen and it's just divine. I love the variety of games you have here also... Thank you so much :)
