As good as The Elder Scrolls games are.. the music is the one thing I come back to time and time again. I'm a bit older now and more mature so I don't have as much time to game, and even when I do it's not quite the same. But when I listen to Jeremy's compositions I get that same magical feeling gaming or not. There is nothing I'd rather listen to when I'm coding or really doing any type of work. His music is pure magic. I would love to see him conduct an orchestra live before I die.

haha, music is what got me into TES series in the first place! And is what I revisit regularly, despite not playing the games at all recantly. I love his tracks, it was because of his work on Guild Wars that I became somewhat obsessed with him. Such a shame Everquest NExt has never seen the light of day, because its soundtrack seemed quite promising. And now its all lost to the public :/ Or is it? Need to see if theres anything left on youtube.

"deep" removes all meaning from the things in which you might note when reading such a comment, noticing patterns and variations is all meant to be, in classical music, it professes certain emotion that only the royals in which listened could admire, and relate to. Being " deep" is a matter of what and how you can relate and remember all that is brought before you, and once you change how things relate to you and realize is that everything in your exsistance is here, in it's abundance, for you to see and relate to in whichever way you chose, and the world is more massive than you may have presumed before; the Earth can be seen, heard, smelt, felt, imagined, conceived, and so much more, and we are one of the richest of species in our capabilities, to do just that.

Nonsense babble. Just shows how far standards of games have fallen. Back when Oblivion and even Fallout 3 came out (which are still at the top of Bethesda's work), people still knew that it was mostly generic crap. Now gameplay and design is even worse, that it seems incredibly "deep". (And it has nothing to do with music or "atmosphere", rather that that's basically all there is to it.)

(things bout to get emotional! lol)
Listening to this revived my childhood, brought back so many amazing memories it made me so emotional tears filled my eyes. No one will ever be able to top the beauty of oblivion, how fresh its nostalgia will always be. How it changed the world of gaming forever. Not many people thought of Oblivion this way, but in my opinion oblivion beats Skyrim big time.
When I listen to this music, it brings back those first moments when I remember escaping the prison in my first ever play through. It was like a whole other world had been open to me, and boy was it beautiful. Oblivion's graphics were alien for its time, and it became like a second reality we could elope to. No game has ever made me feel this way, this incredible bond and love I have for it.
I don't know how many of you are religious, but I had a dream, that everyone has a personal hell or heaven to which they will reside in after death. My personal heaven had began with myself waking up in a field with the greenest grass I've ever seen, and waters a pristine turquoise in color. I could hear this enchanting music within the winds breeze, and live the rest of my eternity relieving the vastness and beauty of the world I created within my conscience inspired by this world. Funny. When I first popped this disc in to my Xbox 360, never once did I think it would change my minds creative ability so drastically.

What I want to ask is how did we go from Skyrim to a piece of s*** like fortnite that's so overrated it's so plagiarizing and overused it's what I don't understand is why it has no Beauty it has no Essence no soul to it.
It may be fun but it's not like Skyrim.
      Not one bit.
it doesn't need to be similar it just to me needs to have the feeling as if it's a live.
it has a soul it means something to you games like Skyrim have opened me up to ideas that would never have been thought of before Skyrim and games like it have enlightened me in life and it makes me happy now when I look at these games like fortnite I feel bored and annoyed I miss my beautiful games I feel sad that I've already completed everything in Skyrim.
that there wasn't more to it but there is.
this is why i keep playing the game not for the content but for another life.
when you think of Skyrim as being another world that you could live in if you think of all the people as being alive everything just changes for you the game is a undying piece of art for you at that point the Thunder and the birds the rain it all gets so realistic that you can feel it on your skin but you know you're not there.
the cold breeze of Skyrim rushes bye will purchasing goods from merchants you feel it on your skin while you're sitting in your game chair in the middle of spring.
you hear the birds chirping it almost sounds like they're real it's beautiful.
but you're sitting in the game chair in the city you were born into.
you're talking to someone at a bar they tell you about some stories you give them gold because they're homeless you think it's important because you have sympathy for them.
you look at yourself and say am I the homeless one I feel like I've been wondering is this my home or am I not seeing the picture is this my home or is my life my home I'm getting mixed up there both equally as important and alive.
You look again at the game and you see that man... lying on the ground dieing...all because you didn't pay attention to your surroundings....
all of a sudden you realize there's tears running down your face you ponder about the idea that maybe this game is real maybe this game has a soul maybe this game is truly one with the Gods maybe this game and this game only is the one work of art that will never be bested my friends and my phos I will tell you this game is not just a game it's not just a dream what it is is a glimpse into the one single moment in history that we created a world with a soul we will never be able to do such things again but don't worry appreciate that world keep that game keep that world keep saving that world never stop trusting in the love.
for that is a great journey to bestow yourself upon if you find yourself feeling like this.
do not worry for it is a sign that you're something more and that there is something more to the picture and you are coming so close to familiarizing it.

I always thought Jeremy Soule had a fitting name as he really does put the life and *soul* into the Elder Scrolls series in my opinion. Morrowind, Skyrim and Arcanum, three of my favourite games and RPGs of all time, all 3 of them with stunning music, 2 by Jeremy himself. It's funny how the music in games is something we don't really think about so much until years later when we hear a recognisable theme song again and get that shiver of nostalgia at the memories. Beautiful stuff.

When a mutual friend of Jeremy and I was still alive--he was Jeremy's friend, but my friend, too--he told me that Jeremy would rise to the highest ranks as a composer, and we had been thinking about legendary composers of that day, as John Williams, for instance, among other greats. He a profound appreciation for the talent of Jeremy Soule, an opinion that registered deeply in me because Jerry was a respected name out there, with 50 years in the business, working with giants, arranging and vocalizing their acts, as well as performing and booking performances at legendary places.

He stole me away back in 2002 when he did the themes for Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege II, I can play the theme song on the Piano and whistle it by heart. The man is amazing, and so is his music. Who wouldn't want a 3 hour dose of this?

What an incredible composer he is....I usually listen to Ambient music when studying....examples=
    - Steve Roach ("Atmosphere for Dreaming" - "The Dream Circle" - "Dreamtime Return" - "New Life Dreaming" - "Immersion:One" - "Emotions Revealed")
    - Thomas Brennan ("A Place to Remember" - "Strange Paradise" - "Mist" - "Mountains.")
    - Bernd Kleiner ("The Quite Lake")
    - Jonn Serrie ("And the Stars go with you.")
    - Harold Butt & Robin Guthrie ("An hour, a day, no more..." - "After the Night Falls.")
    - Harold Butt ("The White Arcades")
    - Harold Butt/Brian Eno/Daniel Lanois ("The Pearl")
    - Michael Stearns ("Planetary Unfolding.")
    - Alio Die ("Deconsecrated and Pure")
    - Warmth ("Linger")
    - Brian Eno ("Apollo" - "Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirrow" frea. Harold Butt - "Prophecy Theme" from the Dune 1984 Movie Soundtrack"
    - Vangelis ("Blade Runner Soundtrack.")
    - Altus ("The Wanderer" - "Innerspace" - "Komorebi")
    - The Kyoto Connection ("Postcards")
    - David Helpling ("A Sea Without Memory")
I also love the "TPR Melancholy Music from Secret of Mana & Chrono Trigger"....
But I constantly come back to Jeremy Soule... it is the perfect background for my studies in Evolutionary Theory....when I read books about the Enlightenment Philosophers, the American & Frensh Revolution, the history of Religion, Science etc.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I listen to Soule everyday at the moment for hours and hours because I am revising for my finals. It's good to have some new options to listen to, so thanks ;)

Had I one possession to be granted prior the eternal wandering of my soul, it would be this. For eternity evermore would be christened by the melody that brings solace to my trouble spirit henceforth to pervade through my being; a wonderment of joy and an ode of serenity, I would never know the loneliness of eternal solitude. For this would accomplice me in its embrace of pure imagination, a wondrous inspiration, i would never go then without ease to the world in which I inhabit. There and now. Blessed be he, the forger of this divine gift, Jeremy Soule.

If i could take 1 game on an island, it would be oblivion or skyrim... i could live and die happily with one of these games. Jeremy, you are an actual god.
