This playlist is my life itself. Most of the games I liked are in here. And I almost cried when the darkworld theme from zelda came out! It's amazing that we have similar experiences even though we have lived in different countries :) Thank you, 감사합니다.
Honestly you can get a lot of flak for making a top anything list although this is especially true in music, always gonna be some people out there unhappy with whatever choice you made for a top list. Kudos to you for havin' the balls to even make one. As long as everyone understands this is your own preference who does it really hurt? No one. I enjoyed the selection here. Sure, some of my own favs are absent from the list but overall this list is all in good taste given many of these tunes are memorable and can get stuck in your head for years, some here have been since I was a child. Thanks for the upload and the enjoyable hours of nostalgic awe inspiring tracks.
This is an awesome mix, I've already listened to this multiple times while working. It helps for the motivation, but sometimes I'm coming back to see from which game the soundtrack is coming from :p Thank you W Genzo ! This is the best mix of video games songs I've heard so far. At the same time, we have similar taste (FF, Phantasy Star Online, Castlevania, SSBM, Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong Country 2, etc.).
As soon as I saw that the first song was from Golden Sun I knew this compilation would be great. I would love to see another video! Although I think it would be nice if the music was organized in some way, maybe from old to new or from calm to intense
Thank you for the advice, it makes sense. Honestly, i went for a mix between calm and intense tracks as the playlist progresses so it wouldn't be monotonous. Glad you like it.
I love you! I listen video game music during work and I think I've listened to every other compilation a million times already. Thanks for the new one!
@@thescientition9165 Do it. Crysta has become my favourite song of 2020. The story is pretty tropy at first, but it hints at a big twist that I haven't reached yet. I'm about 15 hrs(?) in. Stuck on a boss cuz I'm underleveled. Just have to use an item to beat the boss apparently. I'll get back to it eventually. You can hook up a controller with the Snes9x emulator.
Awesome soundtrack, really enjoyed listening to this on repeat. Little towards FF for a balanced list lol but overall amazing, and I learned some new songs and maybe some new games to try out!
First song being from Golden Sun hit me hard. First seconds in a 5 hour video already hit me, damn. And then AGAIN! I'm looking for references so that i can commision a Wrestling x Fire Emblem Sacred Stones art and then Sacred Stones music hit!
Is is possible for any game about time travel to nail the soundtrack better than Chrono Trigger does? Those tracks are so damn good I can't believe the game is from the 90s....
I was thinking the same thing! I'm glad someone else thought to ask the question. It's probably the best fan art I've seen of Final Fantasy IX. All of the characters fighting to protect Zidane is cool to see.
I don't hear enough Devil May Cry soundtracks on these kinds of lists, which is a shame. I was hoping to see something here instead. I would recommend Statue of Time from DMC1 as an underrated gem, or Ultra Violet. Respected the list immediately upon first choice though. Never heard of it, and it sounded quite pleasant.
I would like to ask this to W Genzo if it's ok, but how long did it take you to make this music video compilation? I'm making my own top 100 game music on my channel out of inspiration from listening to your list recently.
@@jjvisual92 That makes since, especially doing it off and on. I've only been working on mine for about two weeks now a little bit a day, but by the time it's done it'll probably take that long to or at least two months. Thank you for the reply.
Not hating on your list or anything, but when I clicked on a video that said "Hidden Gems" I was expecting more niche games with good music. Nearly 1/3 of this list is final fantasy, and while final fantasy has great games, it's also one of the most popular video game franchises of all time. In fact almost every game on this list is wildly popular. Again, not saying any of the songs are bad, they're all amazing, they just aren't what I was expecting when I read Hidden Gems
I respect this. I think I have some tracks that you don't see that much, and I also favored some less famous games over big titles -but it's difficult to surprise people who have played a lot of games. FF for example, a really famous saga, but most people haven't touched Tactics Advance, which is represented here
You probably won’t see this, but if you’re looking for a hidden gem check out the “Project Zomboid” sound track, some songs might sound weird, but they fit perfectly within the atmosphere of Project Zomboid.
I understand, XIV has incredible music. I went with that one cuz personal taste and because I also felt it matched the general vibe of this playlist -more than, for example, the Shadowbringers theme which is 10/10
needs the Legend of the Dragoon opening soundtrack. even though it has actual lyrics, no compiliation of video game soundtrack is truly complete without that song
RPG's usually have great music. But for real, #2 is a platformer, #5 is a tactic game, #8 is a metroidvania... There are more than just RPG's -which is already a huge genre.
You know, Final Fantasy is not the only video game franchise and JRPG is not the only video game genre. Even on the JRPG side, no persona ? No octopath traveler ? No mario RPG ? No smt ? No dragon quest ? I get it, you're a middle zged man that grew up with ginal fantasy but .... Open your mind.
What a hipster list. All this Castlevania without Symphony of the Night lmao. I just can't. And you can't have a top 10 without Turok 2's "Port of Adia"
@@jjvisual92 it would appear you haven't given it a listen. Port of Adia alone knocks your entire 100 down. I mean you're even missing Bloodborne, bro.
@@scottcontois3957 Music taste is subjective, and 100 tracks is not enough for all the great videogame music out there. It pained me leaving Symphony of The Night out, but it happened because I gave preference to other Castlevania tracks that resonate better with me. Bloodborne, Nier, Nihon Falcom, even Mario, are not here for that same reason. That Turok 2 track is a jam, I give you that, but saying that it knocks down every track here is too much, for real.
You're right, only 10% of the list is non-japanese games. I do favor them, because i've played a lot of RPG's - which Japan is best at - and japanese composers are the reason i got into videogame music.
no best music playlist is complete without nier musics
