Her husband had killed a bunch of squirrels and took a few to the neighbor. He swore they were all sitting around the table with meat and vegetables and looking closer he saw an infant's HAND on the dinner table surrounded by other pieces of meat. The man's daughter had been pregnant out of wedlock but no baby was ever born or seen. My gg grandmother swears it was born and they ate it.

We just thought he was a weird guy who asked weird questions about bike races in Seattle, made a comment about smelling weed, and who made a very strange joke about "The green river killer having a green car" (We were in a green VW Bug) and didn't think much of it despite being creeped out.
We had a really bad feeling but I know we were more concerned about this weird guy riding up to us on a bike while we were smoking weed because he might call the cops or something.
But when the news broke and I saw the guys face I knew instantly that we had seen him, I called my friend and the first thing he said to me was "WE MET THE GREEN RIVER KILLER!" so it wasn't just me who was 100% positive we met him.

Imagine all the serial killers in places like rural Russia or Africa? I bet there is a lot. In places that don't have the resources to investigate murders properly or share info with surrounding areas. Even down Australia I bet it would be easy to not be noticed. Then there are the ones on the opposite end of the spectrum. Serial killers that are rich, hiding in plain sight. I'm sure there are more then a few super rich killers. Probably hunt people for sport. They are rich enough to be above the law. Being a middle class serial killer is probably the hardest of them all.

In addition, Chikatilo and his murders served as inspiration for the novel "Child 44", in which his horrendous crimes are transferred to the last years of the Stalinism.
