Who knew those things could be fixed so easily. About a month ago, we had an Electrician install a new Panasonic fan in the bathroom. The fan, similar to yours, was not big enough for the bathroom size.
Thanks! Saved me having a contractor come out. The hardest part for me was getting the fan plate out. Somebody bend the bottoms of the housing it slides into for some reason so i had to use pliers to pry it back.
Bro, this was perfect! Fixed up my bathroom fan in 10 minutes! I was putting this off forever. qQuick trip to lowes to buy the replacement fan and done! Thanks for the great video
Just replaced mine with your help! Thanks for the link to the replacement part and the tips. I would have thought I purchased the wrong part had you not mentioned the thing came assembled backwards from the factory. Thanks!!!
Thank you for posting this. This really helped me. You saved me the expense of having someone come and fix it. I sent you a small tip. Reversing the motor was key because I would have thought that they sent me the wrong part!
Great video. I just changed mine following your video. Current price on the part at amazon is 32.03 after tax 01.07.24 for those wondering. The motor was also reversed on mine but its easy flip around like you did. The original motor died after 12 years. Hopefully the new one will last as long if not more. Thank you. Thank you!!
Thank you! Great video! My 3 exhaust fans have been making a racket for years! This inspired me to replace all 3 motors and mounts after a trip to Lowe’s.
You mounted the new fan motor incorrectly to the base plate. There is a small square indentation, opposite of where you mounted yours, that the back end of the motor assembly rests in. You can go back and look to see where the original was mounted. Good video though! The part of swapping the 2 incorrectly assembled motors helped me before putting the unit back up.
Well I did it. I replaced my old 696N R02 motor with an new 696 AN A unit or 696N B unit bathroom motor. Same 50 CFR and 4.0 SONES. Thank u for the video.
Perfect video. I also ordered that universal motor from Amazon. The only thing I would add is that the long screw size uses a 6 mm hex socket and the bolt uses an 8 mm hex socket.
A job well done. I bought a nutone 696N -RO3 and the company nutone put a 696AN A unit or 696N B unit. The frame is bigger than my original nutone. So u think I can replace that motor with my old one ? Will it still work ?
THANK YOU!! I followed your instructions and installed my new fan-I got from Amazon too and the assembly was also backwards! The only thing missing is, after plugging it in, TURN ON THE SWITCH on the bathroom wall! 😂😅 I thought I had a power issue, as it didn’t turn on after plugging in. 🤦🏼♀️
Nice work. The only thing that I noticed is that the motor was installed 180degrees from the one you removed. This wouldn't effect functionality much but it does impede air flow a bit as the face plate brace would be under the motor giving the other side a little more room for air flow.
That paint is likely not overspray but instead exhaust residue from when they sprayed the ceilings and then turned all the exhaust fans on to air out the house
Still, it is very noisy! I am trying to install a new quiet fan this weekend to you bathroom ceiling. Any brand or model recommendations for a quiet fan?
can you explain why its not so easy just to reverse the mounting because the fan blades will blow air in if you reverse mounting? thats because the spindle will rotate counter clockwise vs clockwise or vice versa...
My bathroom broan fan stopped working today it was installed just last summer i looked up videos one said to vacuum it i did even though it wasnt that dirty i dont know what to do i dont have the money to buy a new fan so hoping to find help to help me FIX it.

Hi! What size did you end up replacing or are you planing to upgrade?
@@FixThisHouse we went with the WhisperChoice Pick-A-Flow 80/110 CFM. Works great...
Thanks for this Video! My fan went out and I ordered a new motor and followed your instructions. It took less than 20 minutes.

Really appreciate this video. Replaced the motor to the one of the fans in my parents house that was built in 1989.
Thank you! Great video! My 3 exhaust fans have been making a racket for years! This inspired me to replace all 3 motors and mounts after a trip to Lowe’s.
Thanks this helped. My newer model & replacement parts only needed one obvious screw removed fist.
First RUclips video that really helped me. Thank you!!!!

Thank you! I fit well that way, but was crooked as shown. Your comment helped me not think I was crazy!!
I bought a new motor from Amazon as well and it was purchased backwards
@@kelsiedesch it is important to buy the fan and fan motor spinning in the correct direction. its not as simple as turning the motor housing around.
I noticed that as soon as he did the test fit. It's funny how critical this guy is of others yet installed it wrong himself 😂
You’re instructions were very clear. I was able to go to Home Depot and by a new motor/fan assembly. Works great! Thanks!
Thanks for the Great tutorial. Mine has been out for 4 years. Now my wife won’t complain of my blowing up the bathroom lol.
4 years?? Brother!
😂 your wife love loves you❤

...or, a needle nose vice grip. 🤣
Small Crescent wrench worked for me!
Thank you very much! You helped me to replace my old fan ❤ I've never done something like that before
Great work. I’m glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
I picked up my motor from Lowe’s today. I just reversed the screws and was good to go.
Thank you for the video and help me a lot 👍🙏

Excellent tutorial. You did an awesome guidance.
Would you please let me where to find brand name of the exhausted fan motor? So I can buy it online.
Thank Thank so much for your feedback! Here is the link for the motor : amzn.to/3LYPzIB

Can we do this to install a more powerful motor
Thanks so much!

What is the link to the new motor assembly?
My bathroom broan fan stopped working today it was installed just last summer i looked up videos one said to vacuum it i did even though it wasnt that dirty i dont know what to do i dont have the money to buy a new fan so hoping to find help to help me FIX it.
it's the pressure fit at the end i can't work out. All the components on mine are much more snug fitting! :(
What model was the old?…I need the exact same model w the plug in thecorner
What Will Happen If You Plug 🔌It Into A Electrical Outlet That Ain't Apart Of The Bathroom Fan ?
Helps lot. Thanks lot
That looks so easy. I can't afford a electrician.
You got this! I believe in you! 🙏🏽😊🙌🏽
I love fix this house
I love loud fan to take care of business.
Thanks
Yes same moter where can I get this same moter
The motor is not broken. It just needs to be cleaned and oiled and the shaft spun for awhile until oil gets to the bearings.
how do you clean and oil it?
That's a centrifugal fan
Why turn off breaker…?
how much as it?
They will force new homeowners over to the less efficient electric appliances thus limiting choice
I would rather just replace the whole exhaust fan with a brand new one.
THANKS.
I’m glad I could be of help! 👍🏽😊
It really does suck!!😅
