Man nothing to me is more relaxing than the chug chug idle of non turbo EMD, turbo units sound awesome as well, but as someone who has been rocked to sleep by a 16-567 in a GTW GP9r waiting for customers to be ready for a switch there is nothing quite like it haha.
Love it! I ran the engine rooms of EMD powered towboats for forty one years, and there's no better "fall asleep music" than the engines at idle, with the boat gently buzzing, while you're standing by. :-)
This is great. This would be perfect for all my model EMD SD 40-2 on my layout & train yard. You're so right this is relaxing to hear this engine idling. Beautiful sound. 🎧🙂
Good sound effects for model train layout especially for my kiwi rail locos idling on my shelf end to end layout cheers from Bruce.blenheim south island new Zealand
Well, the Class 66 was produced by EMD using the 12-710 prime mover, so it's not exactly the same but it does sound somewhat similar. The 710 prime mover was used on the SD70 series though.
This brings back memories. Long waits in the siding, leaning back in the seat with the boots on the heater.
Needs to a 10 hour loop. Lasting through the night!!!

That's actually a turbocharged engine at low idle, sounds like the audio was recorded from the cab.
@@silicon212 yeah the video is a 16-645E3.
I’m talking about the units I run, which are powered by non turbo 16-567C motors
Love it!

Found this because my boat is tied up at walkers in Paducah lol couldn't fall asleep lol
Ive taken many naps during beans (lunch) in the middle of the night with the cab windows open for a summer breeze to this exact sound.
I can cleary hear the rocker arms hitting, without headphones. thanks for good sound quality
What a great video! I leave this on in my model railroad shop while working on my Penn Central. It is great to have it on while I work.

As long as it has a good working cab heater it’s perfect!!
SD70ACe high idle would be nice

loco asmr, i cant believe it.
What’s the noise that sounds like oooooo dudududududu ooooooo dududududu that you can hear from a distance
Where did you get this recording from?
@SearchlightSimulations is this a recording from your JR/SS SD40s or a real-life one?
All sounds are real-life recordings 🤣 but no, this is not the same recording as used on our new upcoming SD40s.
Doesn’t sound like sd40 more like gp38. Unless it’s the sound from inside the cab.
Sit on your office chair and close your eyes with max volume you fee like your sleeping in a Cab kinda
hey searchlighsimulations, i saw your guys work on the ac4400 in train simulator, will you guys be working on trainz 3 for their GE's?????
