Red is dead, Green is clean!
Starmer's stance on illegal immigration is terrifying.

Is he going to bring it way down? 🙏
He's a joke. I will not vote Starmer as a Labour member.

48:47 haha Ash, to be fair the Liz Truss klaxon is way more justifiable than the Jeremy Corbyn klaxon! Liz Truss and the permanently higher prices and mortgages we are all paying is still very much a live issue to show why people shouldn’t vote Tory.
We want to hear the debate not stupid background comments.
I need a wheelchair ♿ but the NHS won't give me one, even thoe my legs keep collapsing on me oh and I have been suffering with lack of mobility ever since 2006 almost 20 years
Thanks Aaron for talking over Kier when he was talking about benefits/getting people into work, which is the first time in any of the debates this has been discussed and hugely concerns me as I am disabled/chronically ill. Please stop talking so much over important parts of the debate!
It’s so frustrating. And they don’t say anything of substance either…it’s just pointless babble.
Did Kevin Craig buy his candidacy? 🤔
At some focus group on a momentous day, many years ago now, some wonk found that the idea of a politician being "clear" or "crystal clear" scored highly on some sort of approval scale. Ever since then politicians have been saying how bloody clear they are about everything. I don't know about you, but I would prefer a chiaroscuro politician at this point. An opaque subfusc one. I want one I can only dimly see through a miasma of shadowy confusion.
Sunak and Starmer showing up to deliver the usual predictable slogans and themes. Any AI body doubles would have done better. Anyone still wonders why people are so disenchanted with politics? 😌😌😌

The reason it's difficult for people to get a home is because you turned it into a commodity.
This is why I was disappointed that Labour even under Corbyn didn't follow up on the "Land for the Many" recommendations on introducing LVT and having a Common Land Trust to help buy up Land under the bricks and mortar. I'm a LibDem myself but even I think all parties haven't addressed the fundamental issue of reenvisioning how we view Land not as private assets but into communal/community benefits.
Building 150k council houses a year is a good start from the LibDems and Greens but we need to change how we view Land entirely. We also need to move away from this British centric view of having to own a property and make rent a viable alternative option. But the issue of land through community land trusts would be such vital in changing the housing market away from being well a market driven area to one of shelter, security and comfort.
I think Greens and LibDems have the best housing policies but still that's just touching the edges of land. How we view ownership needs to change so I will be pushing hard for motions at my party's conference as something needs to change or at least have that debate so if it's rejected by my party can have at least start seeing alternative parties like the Greens take up on it.
The most concerning part of the 2024 General Election is that we are guaranteed a shit show if either of these two are elected yet people are still not looking to the other parties. They can both do whatever the hell they want and nothing will ever change. This country needs to wake up and look at the other parties more seriously.
It is a 2 party system - go find novara's recent interview with Mick Lynch
@@hydra66Saw it 👍 the two party system doesn't work. It needs reform (not Nigel style) but actual reform.
Well it will never change unless we abandon the main two.
I agree and now is our time. The Tories are done for we don't have to worry about them getting in. This is the ideal time to vote for something different. I'm voting WPB The priorities of our leaders need to change.
@@Tilted_Rocketeer We need more than reform we need political and diplomatic change. To unshackle the ties that bind us to the global criminals and get back to focusing on our country with peace and prosperity here and around the world.

Great coverage from Novara. I really appreciate Ash' supportive comments about how trans people are political footballs, and I would add the Trans Community has been turned into public enemies by Sunak which is disgraceful behaviour from the leader of the country, especially with hate crimes soaring.
He does the same with asylum seekers, disabled people and half the Scottish population.
I am not voting for either these candidates.
No. Why would we?
the billionaire vs the ming vase. there is no hope.
People relating to Sunak because he cares for his kids, is possibly the most sickening thing I've seen. His "little ones" have every advantage the modern world could provide. He hasn't got a clue what it means to worry about your kids future.
Can’t we just say to Sunak we don’t want lower taxes until they sort out public services which are all on their knees. That would benefit all and no5 just a few pennies in the poorest people’s pocket and a whole load of cash for the filthy rich. Services first then reduce tax burden otherwise not interested
Well this is dystopian
The world as a whole seems rather 'dystopian', in my opinion. We, and the world, need to change quite extremely if we're going to survive this chaos.
Also why is pissy Rishi always allowed to lie all of the time.
Starmer , is good at it as well , remember the pledges that got him elected Labour leader.

Jayzus: I suppose its less than 2 1/2 hours. I'm gonna watch, but i will post something i made earlier below, after watching the debate, and before listening to anyone's interpretation.
"That debate between Sunak and Starmer was pretty dam good. I couldn't face it last night live, but watched it this morning after like 4 hours sleep or something.
My personal opinion is that Sunak again "won" the debate, if that is at all an applicable term to use in this context. i mean its not a football match type thing from my football era of the early seventies, is it? The Labour manifestos though is a bit like a pre match program, in that it doesn't tell you what's going to happen in the game or what the results table will turn out like after. Sunak exposed this to my mind. At one or two points it was pretty explicit in showing some things very inexplicit in the labour manifesto: Sunak quized Starmer on how he would actually do some of the things he was proposing there, like: stopping the immigration boats, massive public spending projects like ubiquitous mental heath programs everywhere, without massive tax rises, and how Starmer could open up small businesses to the EU without apparently having to re-enter the EU free movement of people as experience has taught is the sting in the tail of any such business deal.
Indeed unless the Labour manifesto is really just a patchwork of a bit of everybody in the labour parties favourite thing, surly they must have answers if they are not just an aggregate of bunch of preferences making no overall total coherence,.i think Sunak exposed the fact that there must be hidden even covert intentions, that Starmer was under strict instructions not to let slip.
In general it was similar to the first leaders debate in that it jsut showed the massive difference between the political experience of actually being in government and the slightly imperfect art of competence during a extra ordinary existential crisis, and being a Critical lawyer, using rules and laws exotically, in trying to make political capital out of it.
Hay i quite like this spontaneous analysis of mine .I think i might break one of my rules and instead of doing each politico RUclipsr their own tailored comment I will just copy and re post this too ‘em. They can bill me, I’m knackered!"

That was where Sunak took it too. Thank you Ash and Arron for what you do. Being once able bodied and now disabled I resonate deeply with Beverly’s question and it is consistently clear that disabled people are not cared for by either party nor much of the media outside of virtue signals when it supports them
Both inspire absolute hopelessness, Kier clearly wishes to continue with the neoliberal austerity politics of the 2010's and has no desire or ability to resolve the systemic issues in this country. Im at fault for being mislead into believing him during his leadership campaign in 2020 but cannot vote for him now. Ill vote green out of frustration but feel nothing .
In 4 years time when: the NHS is still on its knees, our water is worse than ever, food and child poverty remains , we're closer to environmental catastrophe , schools are still falling down, public transport is even more expensive, there's no decent jobs outside of major cities, the vast majority of young people cannot afford to move out, councils are still going bankrupt being forced to gamble on private investments, we're woefully unprepared in terms of defense for rising threats, Workers rights and benefits continue to decline, Our key industries are owned and exploited by private finance, our highstreets are barren, disabled and trans people face continued attacks, Police remain systemically racist and corrupt, democratic and civil rights continue to backslide, and as a result of there is no alternative neoliberalism material conditions have declined to the point where polarization has risen and the far right is even more emboldened like in other European states, I wont get any pleasure from saying I told you so.

This is a case in point why both the Tories and Labour have been diving in the polls recently
28:00 There has been a steep rise in diability benefit claimants in the past 4 years. Of course that's not a value judgement however ignoring a mass rise in the number of people permanently out of work because of ill health and just talking about in-work poverty and benefits seems a strange tack. One thing to keep in mind is that with the sanctions regime and the pitance one recieves on JSA, disability benefis are more than double in terms of the amount recieved and the assessment regime is not as cruel and precarious (or as frequent) as it was back in the 2010s.
The housing debate is banal. The solution to the problem is not the knee jerk reaction to build more houses. The reason that houses are unaffordable to the young is because of the price of land not the construction cost of the house. The reasons - The Town and Country Palling Act of 1953 100% development charge abolished; 1961 -Land Compensation Act -Hope value included in CPO compensation; 1969 Myers case hope value confirmed. Since 1968 house price index has gone up by 400% meanwhile the price of land has gone up by 800%! Radical solution a land tax.
Or repurpose old housing. There are so many buildings standing empty that it’s criminal.
