    I found painting the Union quicker after the tedium of trimming the hats down to kepis. I am using black powder with one base being a regiment and a number of bases with a mounted command a brigade. This allows me to fight much larger battles on the table than we could with twenty eight mm troops. I am using Kallistra for cavalry and skirmishes as the Warlord figures are so overpriced .Your troops and terrain look good,happy gaming.

    • @scotty7906
      @scotty7906  3 года назад +1

      yes i have already found the union quicker. I like your idea of 1 base per regiment. I am also looking at using kallistra for my cav/commanders etc.

    Scotty, they look fantastic mate, I'm inspired to crack on again with mine. The SLR size trees look a great scale, I'll pick up a bag myself I think. I have some rubberised horse hair somewhere to make up the canopy just need some flock. Really impressive work and progress mate

      thanks pal, glad you like them. Yep I am quite pleased with the progress..very much just stick some music on and plod on with these type of figures. I paint 12 strips at a time.

    The lack of bayonets is annoying but they look great en masse, nice painting.

    put your hand behind the fences or anything smaller and it will focus on the item, like the fences. for fields check out carpet squares. you would be surprise how well they can be made into corn fields and such.

      many thanks. I do use the army painter strong tone bottles for this scale which helps. Struggling to get through the union troops though. 8 regiments done....another 4 to go

    Army is looking fantastic!
    Those fences look great to me, size works fine, plenty close enough, and the fit perfectly with the buildings you’re using. Fire & Fury interests me, I’d be tempted to try it as an alternative to Black Powder at some point, would love to see how it works, not much on RUclips that I can find.
    Have a look at carpet tiles for ploughed fields.

      Fire and Fury are great rules. Be aware there’s now two versions, the original Brigade scale (second edition) and the Regimental version. Lots of scenarios available and has stood the test of time.

    Mmmhhhh...the 15mm scale seems to be too small for me used to 28mm ...their guns do appear here more as fat broomsticks rather than proper guns and details are important.

    Hey the c.s.a flag with the white and one red line at the end was never used in battle by the south so if u want to make it a little be more accurate use any other battle flag in the flag chart

    The flock on the bases and the texture of the matt are really well matched- where did you get them both? Would love to replicate, they look great

    • @scotty7906
      @scotty7906  2 года назад

      apologies for the late reply. I am afraid the mat was purchased over 20 years ago when I was based in Germany, and the flock I think was summer grass from a model railway store. sorry I cant be more helpful

  • @rcspaintserviceandgaming

    Awesome! Did you choose your regiments from a specific battle? Oh, isn't the colors for the two Texas regiments placed wrong?

    • @scotty7906

      flags come with the starter set. I just pinched them together to get the wavy effect.

  • @MichaelAinge

    How long would you say it took you to paint a regiment?

    • @TheocratOfPoontang
      @TheocratOfPoontang 2 года назад +1

      I am painting union now with GW contrast paints, which I think are a little quicker. I aim for one base (20 men/2 "strips") a night. This way you get 5 bases done a week, which amounts to one sprue. 24 sprues total in the "Big Box", so about a half year. I aim for "tabletop ready" quality, especially at this scale. Quick and imperfect, but not sloppy. With union you always seem to miss spots on the brighter blue pants. The thing to remember is that you can use the darker jacket color to go over them as it is more or less the right shadow color anyway, especially at 15mm. You have to have a system and routine when you're painting these or you will never finish them.

  • @RjBeaman

    Is that just one box of units?

    • @scotty7906
      @scotty7906  3 года назад +1

      this is 80% of the confederates from the starter box.
