Again nicely done Leon! With those forces you could try doing some Shenandoah Valley battles in Spring of 1862. Jackson was holding three Union forces, each of about 10,000, at bay with his force using his central position a la Napoleon.
Thanks Andy. Yep that sounds like fun. I’ll have to do some research. I’m probably going to start of playing the scenarios in the supplement. I’ll run through it when I do the Union update. If I remember lol.
Outstanding job, working on mine also. Have 8 regiments of yanks and 5 of confeds done already. also 6 guns for each, officers, and 1 Kallistra cav unit for each (mounted on sideways arty stands at 4 figs a stand). Went with the 3 stand regiments also (like almost every one else). Still lots more to go and use Kallistra for generals, dead, and the Iron Brigade (one done 4 to go). Next order will be wagons, maybe Zouaves, and maybe more arty.
Thanks buddy. I’ve got to order some more stuff from Kallistra. Will get some Arty, some wagons and limbers. Got the warlord Zouaves and Iron Brigade (painting these now). Might get some commanders from Peter Pig. I’ve found the horses match up more with the warlord ones. Although their infantry are too big. Might copy your idea of putting the Cav on Arty bases.? I’ll have a think before I get round to painting them. I think I’m going to end up with 7 brigades of infantry for each side. 28 regiments infantry and probably 2 cavalry. Still a long way to go lol
looking very good now you have 2 brigades out they look very impressive on the table, and a lot cheaper than 28mm cant go wrong with £6 a pack great job, you certainly have a lot on your painting desk
Thanks Chris. Yep I’ve got almost everything thing I need for both armies. Just put an order in with Warlord for a few bits. Pretty much all sorted now. Maybe a couple more limbers lol
Very nice Leon. I did not catch the company but thise wagons and limbers were great prices. They also possibly give you the option of some custom battalions rather than all looking the same.
Thanks Anthony. They’re from Kallistra. I’m using some to vary the command bases a bit. Will probably order a few more bits and bobs when I get close to the finish
You've done a very nice job with them. I think that if the Warlord figures were in strips of five rather than ten (and yes I know you can hack them apart fairly easily) I might have been tempted. I liked the design of the guns & crews. And if they'd done them in 10mm rather than "inventing" their own I'd have been very interested indeed. As it is they kind of fall between the 15/18mm armies that I own and the 10mm that I'd like to switch down to.
Thanks buddy, I’m currently painting up the Iron Brigade. I’ll run through all the colours I use. I’ve done a guide on the confederates already. Here’s a link to that video ruclips.net/video/4lHU-Y6qCpM/видео.html
@thatdaneish-canadianhistor5459 sure. I’ve painted one unit of Zouaves so far. South Carolina volunteers. I’m painting up the Louisiana tigers soon. Might be a while before I start the cavalry. This video shows the confederate Zouaves I’ve painted. A lot shorter than the painting guide lol. ruclips.net/video/c0S_uZgu7Mc/видео.html
looking good Leon, your catching me up, lol, are they plastic zuaves from warlord, or the early metal ones, looking forward to seeing how you do the striped pants on the tigers, lol. I think if you take the gun off and leave the six horses and the caniston, then that will fit across the back of the deployed cannons, :)
Thanks buddy. They’re the plastic ones. I’m not looking forward to doing the striped trousers lol. I was thinking about taking the gun off but I quite like the look of the gun being towed. I’ve put them on smaller bases now with 4 horses. I might make up some more without guns in future…
Great looking army so far. I lose track with the amount of videos I watch what with you, 7th Son and Stuart Mack but, other than aesthetics, is there any reason for the double based stands? I was very tempted with ACW but ended up sticking with Epic Napoleonic. I like the ACW stuff a lot and of course the history is there with the amount of battles of all sizes fought. I just prefer the unit variety for Napoleonics, especially with all the colourful cavalry units that have distinctly different roles. There's a big BUT to that though, my Naps are still sat in their boxes by and large (albeit a few brigades and cavalry units are primed etc) as I try to plough through multiple smaller projects to get finished first. Even using half-sized stands there is an awful lot to paint with French and British starters, along with the Imperial Guard and Highlanders, so much so that I do think it will take a LOT longer to get finished than the Gettysburg starter which actually is two full armies. So much so that sometimes I even wonder whether going Napolenic was a even a good idea. Always been my favourite period though, so in the end it will be.
Hi Ed, yes the bases are just for the aesthetics. Thought I’d take a leaf out of the 6mm/10mm armies. They always have much nicer scenic bases so decided to do the same with these. I’ve been working on my Naps earlier this year, then out of the blue decided to crack in with the ACW. I like that there’s very little cavalry to paint lol. Yeah I’d say Naps is my favourite period too. I’ll no doubt get back to them soon.
@@leont66wargaming31 Several positives to ACW for sure. Smaller armies (mostly), less cavalry (though that's a negative too IMO, tactics wise), less fiddly painting and, in particular (probably the biggest plus), no square formation to worry about so the standard 60mm bases can be used in 3s with no problem, it's just line or column. I still think it's a dumb idea that Warlord opted for 60mm default base widths. 30mm / 5 figures would have been far better, anyone wanting the same footprint as a 28mm army (how many would?) could then decide to base in double widths, rather than those who don't having to take a modelling knife to the strips, esp where the Naps are concerned!
I totally agree with you. 5 man strips would of been so much better. Especially for the Naps. I think I’ll end up with about 30+ regiments for each side once I’ve finished. So I shouldn’t need anymore than that. Smaller armies so less space needed to play, another bonus lol.
Looking GREAT!! Nice painting and your basing really makes it! One question, did you paint the gun barrels black specifically for rifled artillery? I paint my gun barrels brass for 12lb smooth bore Napoleons. Keep up the good work! Be well.
Thanks Bruce. I just painted them black because I thought they looked nice lol. But going forward I’ll do that. Count the black ones as rifled and I’ll paint brass ones as smoothbore
@@leont66wargaming31 I do paint some black for the Union because the Union had more rifled guns than the South. Lee's favorite gun was the 12lb brass Napoleons. Be well and have fun!!
Bloomin marvellous!🙂👍
Thanks buddy 😊
Great job. The Kallistra kit matches really well and at a sensible price.
Thanks Sam. Yep they’re not bad aren’t they. I’ve chopped them down now to 4 horses.
Excellent work on these Leon, love what you’ve done with them 👍
Thanks buddy 😊
Excellent, well done! 👍

awesome! When you do get to this sorta point it really starts looking incredibly impressive. =) Great job, mate!
Thanks buddy. Hopefully the enthusiasm to finish them keeps going lol.
@@leont66wargaming31 haha. maybe throw in some Billy Yanks to break up the grey monotony? :D
Lol. Yep I’m swapping between the 2.

Looking lovely, agree with 4 horse limber idea, even at this scale, 6 guns plus limber and gun make for a big piece,
Thanks buddy. Yes I think I’ll rebase these. I’ve only got 2 to do.
Very impressive mate. 👍
Thanks Jim. 😊

Leon they are looking great, all in kepi's and not a single cut on your fingers.
Thanks Leslie. I know, it’s not like me, it’s a wonder I didn’t lose some fingers lol
I’m starting a acw epic army so this is cool to see a painted up army thank you 😊

Quick question, what size bases do you use for commanders? Both Brigade and army leaders?
Thanks
Hi there. Sorry for the delay in replying. My commanders are on
40/50/60mm bases. Each size bigger represents a point higher leadership
Looking GREAT!! Nice painting and your basing really makes it!
