I'd like to give a heartfelt shout to all you farmers and truckers for your strength, work and dedication through this pandemic. God bless each and every one of you.
Homeschooling my 13 year old has taught me a couple things: 1. Somehow my best subject is english. 2. I am not cut out to be a teacher. 3. I suck at math.
31 minus 3 is 28 so 7 times x is 28 28 divided by 7 is 4 x equals 4 learned how to do that from my kid last week. he can't find his shoes but he can find x!
I'm a freshman I highschool on central Kansas and my work is all been very easy, our teachers gave us work that is required to be done and then the rest will fall In Line if we have enough time at the end of the school, I finished my work for the week on Wednesday so I've been doing stuff getting ready for summer, doing odd jobs that take a little bit of time to do and really can't just quit half way through, like tilling some yards for my customers for my lawn care job.
As someone who has never worked on a farm I want to say thank you for everything you show because it has opened my eyes to the expenses that most people never think about where farming is concerned.
Thanks for all you do on the farm. Not a farmer, grew up on a small farm in Maryland when I was a kid. Love your way of talking while your working sometimes good laughter. Always taking care of the equipment even cleaning it. I own a Detail Shop now in Maryland kinda wish sometimes I was on a farm. Have a good year and be safe.
In Texas we are in the mid 20's most mornings and had 40 mph north winds this morning. We used to plant mid April but now wait till later. The highest yields with 118 day is 10th to 15th of May and dryland is 110 day around June 12th. When I store equipment I use 1 Amp maintenance charger.
When you put new fuel filters on those tractors try leaving the filters loose and turn the key on until fuel comes out of the filter then tighten it up. I’m a jd tech and sometimes they seem like they end up full of air if you don’t do that 🤷♂️ kinda messy but it seems to work better
Hunter Medrud That’s great advice. Would that tip work with any diesel fuel filter? I sometimes have trouble with air locks in my 2.8 Sofim 8140 long stroke motor I run in my tourist Land train. Fiat Power Train just kind of shrug their shoulders when I ask them about it. Never had the problem on the 3 litre Toyota.
Being a city boy, I have no idea what you're talking about most of the time, but I'm learning and at 71 YO that's good. Really enjoy your videos and family.
I too support the idea of having a Jim Q&A interview style video. Don't feel bad, here in southeast Wisconsin we had the day time blizzard with the sunshining through as well
I’m sure everyone has told you how to fix your 8360 battery problem but I figured I would share that we run an 8345rt and it has a similar issue with a large power draw when the key is off. We have found we can rectify the issue by turning the battery shut off off
Isla had been your helper for a while now . She is a good kid having her around you more probably brightens your day. She might just have to learn how to use the tractor. Give her a few more years she will be helping more than you could ever imagine . Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !
we homeschool 7 kids but we were doing it before covid19 lol--- my kids love it though, my 11 year old daughter drives our 9100 4wd with the vertical til in our latest video, i couldn't imagine farming without having young un's around.
I love your channel. Am amazed at the equippment. Coming from a farm/ranch background I offer you the following: The largest single fenced field sown with wheat measured 14,160ha 35,000acres and was sown in 1951 south-west of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Growing up they would close the schools come harvest. The equippemnt back then was a far cry from today. Thanx for the great channel. Lon Elliott
Our last child is 13 and we've homeschooled our 3 older kids from the start. No snow days, no bus rides, no quarantine issues. It's a wonderful way to educate!
Zach I gotta say: I’m torn. I loved the footage of you talking about all the equipment you guys are running from all the way back when your pops was running the farm. I’m dead serious it gave me pleasure beyond as it reminded me of my proud father running his old iron to keep the business running. At the same time I wish you all that’s coming your way as you work hard and deserve it all. Anyways that’s enough of that keep the videos coming and you’re the representative us farmers could wish for. Strawberry farmer from the Netherlands checking out, stay safe brother.

I never would have thought of a John Deere tractor as a quarantine chamber lol. Thank you for your hard work. Im sure some of your crops make it to my dinner table.
We have battery issues all the time on our farm and our mechanic said it’s likely due to sometimes we only run it for a few minutes before shutting off and that doesn’t allow the batteries to charge. We bought a few trickle chargers and plug them in and it helps immensely
How well I remember my husband trying to help our oldest son with his math homework after I'd thrown my hands up in the air! Parenting never changes, even when you're LockDownHomeschooling!
Ha Ha! That setting up the camera on the cart hitch was funny. I always think about that whenever someone is doing their own filming. It's like, "oh, he had to set the camera there and drive off and then come back and get that". So I appreciate the 4th wall break there.
Don't feel bad we up in upstate NY are still getting snow and the cold weather, who ever gets your grain Cart will be getting a good deal, you guys take really good care of your implements , love watching your videos, they make me laugh witch we all need at this time , Thanks keep them coming.
“Never doubted it!” Yeah....., I saw that ever growing look of concern in your eyes when that battery started to run a little low on juice and the multiple scenarios of what in the blue blazin hell could be going wrong and the “betting odds” that went along with everyone of those separate scenarios...., Hehehehe
Our 8520 sat all winter and fired right up this spring, no problem. Now, having it out and about for a few weeks, it won't start two mornings in a row.
Get some Rainbow Canadian Formula De-Icer, you spray it on your icy windshield/mirrors and bam, no more icy windshield and no more scraping. I'd suggest wiping it off of the mirrors as it'll dry spotty on mirrors.
Do you have ground disconnects on your tractors? We’ve been putting those on our 8Rs and 8RT. It definitely helps with batteries. If you do and the planter has any extra hookups for say an air compressor for the row cleaners you have to make sure it’s grounded to the ground post and not the battery.
Since the fuel filter didn’t require a pre-fill you should’ve cycled the pump 3-4 times before firing. My guess is it was only pumping the original 3-4 seconds needed to start with an already full filter, not knowing it’s empty
When you started the tractor hit a little bit the throttle it helps to push the air so you don’t stall the engine. Even when you think your filters full you can have air left in the system.
I feel bad about the whole situation with the twine. Definitely avoidable if the twine was picked up and unfortunate that melting it messed up the bearings. Really something that shouldnt happen
OTR trucker here, really neat to get to see what's going on over on the other end of the warehouses I pick up from. Definitely subscribed and definitely going to binge watch all of your videos while I'm shut down for a few days!
Sir I just want to say thank you for you great shots that you do... like from the hitch of the cart, beautifully done! I know how busy a farmers' days are and for you to go through this much effort to make it a great shot for a viewers entertainment... Awesome! Thank you once again for going the extra mile in your very busy day. Love how you make us part of your days on the farm. May you have a very blessed 2020!!
I am presuming the polypropylene twine wrapped first around the rollers-the things the bearing go into. The twine then slipped/slid onto the bearing area. If that path the twine took add a small guards on the ends of the rollers.
I don’t know if you already have one of these Zach but I think you should get a jump pack instead of having your battery charger hooked up for a while if you hook the jump pack up then turn it on to 12 or 20 volt it will start right up
Looking at all of those screens in the cab of that tractor makes me jealous as 40+ years ago we were lucky to have a tractor with a cab. Our first cab had an 8track player waaahoooooooooooooooo lol

Was so hoping the post logo scene would've been you setting a hammer on the work bench before covering it with a shop towel and turning off the lights yelling "Go to sleep!"
Whenever you replace a fuel filter (and yes. it is not recommended to re-fill from a jerry can) - my trick is to not screw the filter in tight. Screw it on but leave a couple of turns loose. Turn on the primer pump till no air bubbles leave to top of the filter and then tighten the filter. It's a bit more messy but you will never have a starting issue
Absolutely love your videos mr millenial. Weve just finished our spring drilling here in the uk and after such a wet winter we are now wanting some rain real desperately. Keep the videos coming and you and your family stay safe.
I know it's cool to be deaf and all, but 3M makes hearing protection call Peltor that turns on and off so you can leave them in and hear normal conversations too. Limits incoming sound to 82 decibles. Really cool. I have a pair after a virus killed one of my ears so now I'm deaf in one ear. Loosing that ear made me realize how important your hearing is. They do that for a specific reason. They want this channel to be 100% family friendly and the live streams typically aren't and they say that during the streams over and over. They don't want to have that content available to kids all the time, so they remove the livestreams.
I work for a large construction company in Vermont and worked in the mechanic shops for a few years, in was always taught, always fill any vertical fuel filter with fuel. That icon on the filter may mean not needed not DONT fill
@@cmusic52 They pull surprisingly well, we typically haul 200 units of beans regularly down the highway. Its not pleasant but it can be done behind a 3/4 ton truck as well. Legally it is to much though, your looking at around 17-20,000+ pounds depending on seed weight.
@@Galactis1 people misunderstand. The Flag Code refers to flags. Those are NOT flags, they are decals. T-shirts are NOT flags. Bandannas are NOT flags. Absolutely no rule against flag prints. None. Zip. Nicht. Nada. Zilch. You can wear clothing with printed American flags or flag decorations. You cannot wear an actual flag as a piece of clothing. There is a Flag Code covering this issue. The American Legion has given its support to clothing that represents the American Flag and patriotism.
The electric fuel pumps are timed on some trucks and equipment. If the filter is empty that can require several on offs of the key to get it primed up.
They send him demos because hes a big youtube star and well thats heaps of exposure for them its basically free advertising for them while zac gets to use new stuff so win win
Hi Zach. Here Nacho, from Madrid (Spain). I am a fan of all agri related issues and a follower/suscriber of all your vídeos. I,ve seen in this concrete one you are doing some maintenance in your equipments which I liked very much. I am not a farmer, just work in SKF company, brand which most probable you may know from your spare parts dealers. I really hope you reach the 500.000 suscribers by 5th. May, and please continue this great job you and your team are doing over there. Take care! and Best regards.
That beeping in your shiny red truck is the seat belt alarm. You got to wear that belt. It just takes one , just one time when you least expect it that will save your life. If you want to be there to walk your daughter down the isle, please start. I know we can get so busy and time does matter, but It just takes a second to buckle up . It takes 1/100 of a second for an accident to happen. I have seen way too many accidents over the years where lives were lost because a seat belt could have made a huge difference. Both of my parents could have lost their life one winter where the wind came and lifted their SUV in the air about 20 feet and rolled it in mid air before dropping it on the ground upside down. Their seat belts saved both of them and kept them strapped in until help could arrive.
I actually had/have this exact problem... but the benefits from the manure and the rent is pretty decent overrides fighting a little twine or net wrap. if you just go cut or burn it off right away it's a non issue most of the time. I have cattle and am also guilty but 90% of my hay /straw is chopped so dont have many problems anymore.
He's a good landlord and a good friend. We have farmed a lot of his ground for 25 years now. We'll just deal with it and raise the basket up next time!!
got a little air in the fuel system....fun times...if you turn key let sit for 30 seconds do that a couple times before starting it after filter change it should help...
Pretty much anything electronic will do it. Just because it's not on doesn't mean the comp in the devices isn't eating power. Just like sleeping and off stuff in the home.
Deep tillage in the spring is a mistake. Dries out the gumbo too much and reduces stand. I recommend cultivating it twice, or cultivate once and use a multiweeder on second pass.
Zach, we ran into the same thing and we found if you turn the key on and walk away for 2 min, come back, repeat, at least 2 times, that does the trick 98.546% of the time

Pre millenial dad talking on phone while working one handed, I see where you got it
Good thinking; Jim riding on the 3 pt allows you to drive in the HOV lane of your County Road and avoid all the traffic; way to go!!!
Nothing more American than a seed tender with “Patriotic Farmer Addition”!!!!!
I just wondered if that's too much weight while full for the Dually, 3 axles is quite a bit for a bumper hitch
Except it goes against National Flag code. Not supposed to display the US flag on anything.
Ooh, Onyx is gonna have to go see Principal MillenialFarmer
10:46 Reminds me of those overfilled train carts in dense cities
Do you actually buy stuff like seed tenders or do you just ask them every season to try out another model?
Usually a demo
They send him demos because hes a big youtube star and well thats heaps of exposure for them its basically free advertising for them while zac gets to use new stuff so win win
We're all waiting for the JD deal like Welker
I believe the meme about your batteries always dying has now become a full blown curse that actively kills your batteries lol.
Jim is right, I did enjoy the video where you had to grind the oil filter off...
Man, your daughter is adorable! Good thing she takes after mom and not you haha
But she is clearly a daddy's girl and probably has dad twisted around her little finger.
The forecast sound about like Michigan’s right now😂
Lol one thing about Michigan the next day is always a surprise maybe? 5 inches in the morning? Or maybe not. Lol ya got to love it :-)
Newly subscriber.. I watch " 10th Generation dairyman" and he mentioned your Channel... now I'll never sleep, you got some great equipment.
I'd have some choice words for that guy that left the baling twine in the field.
Yes, I'd let him know what the damages were and tell him that next time the replacement parts and labor would be on him!!!
I'm sure he'd be happy to rent his ground to some one more accommodating if you don't want to deal with it.
@@ericluitjens4256 exactly!! Lol
Well don’t feel alone serviced our 8360R today had the same problem when changed fuel filters had to let it prime 4 times before she started
Why is the "cart" style battery chargers too short for anyone to drag without being hunched over? I always end up awkwardly carrying it anyways!
I put bigger tires on mine.
No kidding!!!!!
Maybe it's designed by a dad with sons that need to be kept busy???
Mount it on a two wheel dolly. Run a piece of 3/4" PVC between the side rails for a place to hook your battery clamps.
got a little air in the fuel system....fun times...if you turn key let sit for 30 seconds do that a couple times before starting it after filter change it should help...
He should do a livestream of just farm work
Think it's harder to edit the "workin words" when live... not to mention violence and nudity. 🤣
hammer slammer true
My kubota when you change the fuel filter you have to open the throttle wide open to start then slowly idle down
Same thing happened to my dad and john deere said unplug the fuse for the radio cause the radio kills the battery
Then you'd have to have them come out and set the time and presets every time.... 🤣
Pretty much anything electronic will do it. Just because it's not on doesn't mean the comp in the devices isn't eating power. Just like sleeping and off stuff in the home.
If you use the kill switch... Your radio still work? Greens are weird. :D
It’s still odd that it sat all winter and fired up then sat two days and wouldn’t.
Deep tillage in the spring is a mistake. Dries out the gumbo too much and reduces stand. I recommend cultivating it twice, or cultivate once and use a multiweeder on second pass.
Cole the Cornstar called you out in his vlog yesterday
Saying what?
Not feeding the Ag Leader/Yedder guys
@@nOtJack1886 cole feeds the Ag Leader and Yetter guys good but Zach doesnt feed the FBN and Yetter guys well
@@realredditstories420 Didn't realise he was a chef lmao
If I need a good GOD Jesus preaching, I go to cole the cornstars channel... which is pretty much never.
Zach, we ran into the same thing and we found if you turn the key on and walk away for 2 min, come back, repeat, at least 2 times, that does the trick 98.546% of the time
