Here's why I find Skip's account more believable. When he talks about Stephen A. being terminated from ESPN and being made to start from scratch when he came back explains so much in my mind why he behaves the way he does to this day and why he's such a company yes man.
So instead of going back and looking at the facts of what happened, you decide Skip is right because you think Stephen A is a yes man? You realize you're a weirdo right?
I like listening to these stories and takes because Skip takes his time and gets the record straight and accurate based upon what he has seen, experienced, and knows... the good part is he challenges people to disagree or put forth another point-of-view and if he's inaccurate, he wants you to call him on it to get the record straight.
Good for Skip to stand up for himself after he was devalued by SAS. SAS is clearly working on his next contract putting that made-up narrative out there but he is simultaneously hurting Skip's next contract. Even though some people think Skip is overreacting, SAS is clearly hurting Skip's career prospects with that fake narrative that Skip doesn't bring any viewership. He's trying to look good by making Skip look bad - which is a snake move and is what has Skip hurt here. We all know Skip saved SAS after he was fired from ESPN - it wasn't the other way around. Skip seems to have a solemn commitment to express his own honesty. That, coupled with his intelligence, and confidence, makes for a highly listenable, enjoyable show that I look forward to, and feel so very happy and comfortable partaking in.
I really appreciated how he came with prepared statements. You could tell he wanted to set the record straight, and not come off as beating his own chest, or dragging Stephen A. It's a very different demeanor than Undisputed, but that makes it all the more powerful
This version of Skip is so much more interesting than what we see on tv. He’s a great storyteller. I feel like I could listen to him tell stories in this setting for hours.

Stephen A. Getting rid of Max Kellerman was the indication that Stephen A. was bitter of Skip. After leaving ESPN Stephen A knew the shown will never be the same without Skip. Skip and his show with Shannon Sharpe still going strong.

This is the most accurate statement about Skip ever. The problem is Skip is VERY knowledgeable, so when he plays the villain against Lebron, or Coaches, his points are 98% true to what is going on. He want's Lebron to be a take over the "I will win i don't care what you say" Like Jordan did and Kobe did for a bit, and many Shooting guards. But Lebron's game isn't that, sometimes it's passing... is that because he isn't Jordan who said F You in another players face, and "Take that sucker" or is it because Lebron is a chess player and passes the ball controlling the game. That is Skip's only problem with Lebron, to be compared to Jordan, you have to say "give me the ball" and just out play the other team. But scared of free throws comes up because Lebrons a driving basketball player, and we don't know, did he pass it to take the pressure off, was he gassed to drive it (which is fine people get tired) or does he not have that killer will. Everything skip says is USUALLY accurate, and he is a showman enough to smile, even when his team is losing(cowboys), or not smile and be like "Cowboys what are you doing?" Hence what he calls the blind witnesses. That is the title of Truth teller he claims. You can't say someone is a hater or impartial, when the team they covered forever and loved, he even questions them like wtf? And says he is out on the cowboys every year. Psychologically that should be enough to show Skip isn't biased or a hater, he will out his own team, so when he out's others, there is a valid reason for him thinking that, whether he is wrong or not, it isn't hating.
Just being honest, i watch/listen to UNDISPUTED (daily) ever since Skip left First Take. Skip and uncle Shay Shay are the best Duo on T.V and First Take is not on the same level, Honestly.
I enjoyed hearing Skip describe the history of First Take. I remember Cold Pizza being ESPN's so called "answer" to a morning talk show, and that Cold Pizza was a terrible show. Thank you Skip for letting us know that the idea of First Take came from someone dissecting the ratings from Cold Pizza to conclude that the debate segments were the highest rated portions of that show.

Let's be real. I was an avid watcher of 1st Take when Skip and SAS did the show. When Skip came to FOX I started watching Undisputed. Have not seen one episode of 1st Take in 6 years. No Mercy.

People are misinterpreting what he was saying - even if he did get facts wrong (I don't have a way to fact check Skip or SAS), he never made it seem like he saved the show. My interpretation was "Skip got me out the dog house"...He literally talked about how his career was stalled until Skip asked him to come on.

This is how I remember it happening from the outside looking it. Stephen A flopped the first time around at ESPN, while Skip was rocking it on Cold Pizza and then First Take. First Take rescued Stephen A career, not Skip's. Definitely looks like Stephen A is trying to revise history here!

I think they are just remembering not to leave out important points, and telling how they feel, because the next morning when you wake up, you don't feel the same about the situation. Poorly reading, I know nothing about. My analogy to presidents and celebrities reading a statement off a teleprompter or paper, comes out well. The must be something that crawls in Skips skin where he has to pause, and can't just glance, remember the lines and belt them out to the camera, BUT that does not diminish the fact these are his true feelings, that is why it is written down, so he remembers every thing he wanted to say in the moment, and every point he wanted to make. Maybe he just needs a speech writer, so it flows better. Presidents flow, but they are just reading reading words like a song someone wrote for them. Skip can't flow because he writes something then "siiigh" and it means something to him, and he has to remember more.
I have said this about Skip B for years--he is a star in every way---he is a profound writer...never mind his presence before the camera. I adore this man.
I love Shannon,,, I really do. I do however, have great appreciation for the talent of Skip(by himself). It really shows on this podcast. When he speaks he covers all basis and leaves you with not many questions. He really is a throwback to the era of listening to the radio on the porch all evening. Man o’ man that was one backstory into the history of the legend of Skip Bayless and the birth of First Take. It started out impactful with the opening line about him (Stephen a. Smith) being more of a brother to him than his real brother. P.s shoutout to the 2 live stews, they are ahead of their time.
I watched first take back in 2011 and watched pretty much all days until skip left in 16, his chemistry with stephen a smith was unmatched and it made me laugh and smile a lot, very nice enterteinment!
I've been watching skip since a teenager... Since sports reporters on Sunday's then over to cold pizza on to first take.... I watched SAS on the podcast and I was pretty shocked he said he saved first take because everyone I knew watched it before SAS was a permanent guest.... Since skip moved to FS1 I only watch undisputed.... And I am a DIE HARD EAGLES FAN but got love for Skip... This looks like it hurts him so bad to put things in the proper prospective as SAS is a close friend to Skip...

I saw the JJ Redick podcast with Stephen A. Smith and his story took me by surprise a bit. Specifically the part where he said Skip begged him to join First Take because he needed him. Skip is a very proud man and it's hard for me to believe that he would bed Stephen A. Smith to be part of the show to boost ratings.

Skip is a TRUE Legend. Sticks to his guns like Billy the Kid in the Wild West. I began watching Undisputed since it’s inception. The reason why I began to watch was because I love uncle Shannon Sharpe. One of my favourite players and TV personalities. Since that point I have become very fond of skip Bayless. He could be wrong, he could be right and he can flat out crazy at times. However, that’s what makes him a true Legend. Doesn’t hide behind what he says, he stands in front of it and screams it off the rooftops. Nothing annoys my more then bandwagon jumpers. He ain’t one. I think Skip did an amazing job expressing his thoughts and giving more insight to what happened with that situation. With that being said if you watch the JJ podcast Stephen A smith did nothing but praise skip through the whole broadcast. You can tell during that podcast that he loves and respects Skip Bayless. Ok here we go!!!! This is gonna be fun. A clash of two massive yet very different egos...Stephen A. "It's All About Me" Smith and Skip "They're All Out To Get Me" Bayless. The popcorn is ready.
Those who have watched Skip and SaS since Cold Pizza, Quite frankly, older first take (Jay crawford, Dana, Cari Champion days), Know it was Skip at the core. Even if people like me who never understood some of his takes. Then the addition of SaS created a synergy that took FT to the new level. Wish the narrative would stop making us choose between them.
I was never a fan of Skip or Stephen A as individual sports talk hosts but I regularly enjoyed First Take when they were on there together. Once Skip left for Fox and started Undisputed with Shannan Sharpe I was skeptical at first but realized the show was only getting better and better with time. I tried watching First Take with Stephen A. and Max (or anyone else they tried to pair him with) but it just didn't have that same energy or flow that would keep me tuning in. Now it's 2022 and I tune in to Undisputed just about every day and First Take is an afterthought. Its no coincidence that Skip and Shannon sit alone at their table and bring in top ratings. Meanwhile, every time I see a clip of First Take, Stephen A is always surrounded by at least 3 other 'analysts/show hosts' and the conversation is as dry as unseasoned chicken.
I love Skip and Shannon, but the show is getting a little stale. Each segment feels the same, and I’m hearing the same arguments for the same topics each day. They need some new producers that can make the show feel fresh again, and to bring on a lot more guests in-studio.

So, in 11th grade I was in English composition, the regents class back in 1982..We had been assigned to write an essay about something...I wrote about Ray boom boom Mancini and Roberto Duran..I got a C I think. after he handed the papers back he told me to see him after class..He told me that what I wrote was good but he also said that it was clear to him that I didn't know a whole lot about boxing but what I wrote was good enough because he knew I liked those fighters...he said you could be a great writer, but when you write, write something that you know a lot about and also include what is in your heart too, like you did in that essay..That changed my life...he had given me the key to success in writing. I never saw another C letter grade again in his class. This episode is a great example of what I'm talking about with my story. Skip is clearly talking about something he knows a lot about and he also is using what is in his heart. I'm talking about both the SAS stuff and the stories about Jordan..I nearly cried at the end, and that is what communication is all about

This is the most accurate statement about Skip ever. The problem is Skip is VERY knowledgeable, so when he plays the villain against Lebron, or Coaches, his points are 98% true to what is going on. He want's Lebron to be a take over the "I will win i don't care what you say" Like Jordan did and Kobe did for a bit, and many Shooting guards. But Lebron's game isn't that, sometimes it's passing... is that because he isn't Jordan who said F You in another players face, and "Take that sucker" or is it because Lebron is a chess player and passes the ball controlling the game. That is Skip's only problem with Lebron, to be compared to Jordan, you have to say "give me the ball" and just out play the other team. But scared of free throws comes up because Lebrons a driving basketball player, and we don't know, did he pass it to take the pressure off, was he gassed to drive it (which is fine people get tired) or does he not have that killer will.
Everything skip says is USUALLY accurate, and he is a showman enough to smile, even when his team is losing(cowboys), or not smile and be like "Cowboys what are you doing?"
Hence what he calls the blind witnesses.
That is the title of Truth teller he claims.
You can't say someone is a hater or impartial, when the team they covered forever and loved, he even questions them like wtf? And says he is out on the cowboys every year.
Psychologically that should be enough to show Skip isn't biased or a hater, he will out his own team, so when he out's others, there is a valid reason for him thinking that, whether he is wrong or not, it isn't hating.
Skip deserves his flowers and he earned my respect more than he ever did today!

I enjoyed hearing Skip describe the history of First Take. I remember Cold Pizza being ESPN's so called "answer" to a morning talk show, and that Cold Pizza was a terrible show. Thank you Skip for letting us know that the idea of First Take came from someone dissecting the ratings from Cold Pizza to conclude that the debate segments were the highest rated portions of that show.

People are misinterpreting what he was saying - even if he did get facts wrong (I don't have a way to fact check Skip or SAS), he never made it seem like he saved the show. My interpretation was "Skip got me out the dog house"...He literally talked about how his career was stalled until Skip asked him to come on.

I think they are just remembering not to leave out important points, and telling how they feel, because the next morning when you wake up, you don't feel the same about the situation.
Poorly reading, I know nothing about. My analogy to presidents and celebrities reading a statement off a teleprompter or paper, comes out well. The must be something that crawls in Skips skin where he has to pause, and can't just glance, remember the lines and belt them out to the camera, BUT that does not diminish the fact these are his true feelings, that is why it is written down, so he remembers every thing he wanted to say in the moment, and every point he wanted to make.
Maybe he just needs a speech writer, so it flows better. Presidents flow, but they are just reading reading words like a song someone wrote for them. Skip can't flow because he writes something then "siiigh" and it means something to him, and he has to remember more.
I have said this about Skip B for years--he is a star in every way---he is a profound writer...never mind his presence before the camera. I adore this man.

I love Shannon,,, I really do. I do however, have great appreciation for the talent of Skip(by himself). It really shows on this podcast. When he speaks he covers all basis and leaves you with not many questions. He really is a throwback to the era of listening to the radio on the porch all evening. I saw the JJ Redick podcast with Stephen A. Smith and his story took me by surprise a bit. Specifically the part where he said Skip begged him to join First Take because he needed him. Skip is a very proud man and it's hard for me to believe that he would bed Stephen A. Smith to be part of the show to boost ratings.

Skip is a TRUE Legend. Sticks to his guns like Billy the Kid in the Wild West. I began watching Undisputed since it’s inception. The reason why I began to watch was because I love uncle Shannon Sharpe. One of my favourite players and TV personalities. Since that point I have become very fond of skip Bayless. He could be wrong, he could be right and he can flat out crazy at times. However, that’s what makes him a true Legend. Doesn’t hide behind what he says, he stands in front of it and screams it off the rooftops. Nothing annoys my more then bandwagon jumpers. He ain’t one. I was never a fan of Skip or Stephen A as individual sports talk hosts but I regularly enjoyed First Take when they were on there together. Once Skip left for Fox and started Undisputed with Shannan Sharpe I was skeptical at first but realized the show was only getting better and better with time.
I tried watching First Take with Stephen A. and Max (or anyone else they tried to pair him with) but it just didn't have that same energy or flow that would keep me tuning in.
Now it's 2022 and I tune in to Undisputed just about every day and First Take is an afterthought. Its no coincidence that Skip and Shannon sit alone at their table and bring in top ratings. Meanwhile, every time I see a clip of First Take, Stephen A is always surrounded by at least 3 other 'analysts/show hosts' and the conversation is as dry as unseasoned chicken.
I love Skip and Shannon, but the show is getting a little stale. Each segment feels the same, and I’m hearing the same arguments for the same topics each day. They need some new producers that can make the show feel fresh again, and to bring on a lot more guests in-studio.

First take has been entertaining since JJ Reddick joined and even Pat Bev. Undisputed tends to talk about the same topics Lebron, Brady, Cowboys
@@kingfulness no, I’ve been feeling this for the entire year now. I watched undisputed all the way through quarantine, where they did Jordan vs LeBron for the entire show, but this is different. It just feels like the show lost its spark.
@@julian5699 idk guess that’s your opinion I feel like that sometimes but it’s only for a short period because I understand that there isn’t much to talk about at some points but there are definitely times where I would replay a segment because of how good it was

So, in 11th grade I was in English composition, the regents class back in 1982..We had been assigned to write an essay about something...I wrote about Ray boom boom Mancini and Roberto Duran..I got a C I think. after he handed the papers back he told me to see him after class..He told me that what I wrote was good but he also said that it was clear to him that I didn't know a whole lot about boxing but what I wrote was good enough because he knew I liked those fighters...he said you could be a great writer, but when you write, write something that you know a lot about and also include what is in your heart too, like you did in that essay..That changed my life...he had given me the key to success in writing. I never saw another C letter grade again in his class. This episode is a great example of what I'm talking about with my story. Skip is clearly talking about something he knows a lot about and he also is using what is in his heart. I'm talking about both the SAS stuff and the stories about Jordan..I nearly cried at the end, and that is what communication is all about
