They prey on people's *HORROR* of being left behind in this material world. Save yourselves, good ppl! $700/= is a lot of money! Use the best machine ever! Your own hands!
Nobody is praying on anything. They're just advertising. He never said anything along the lines of "You need this in the current day and age". It's a product that's good for family businesses to increase their stock and decrease the time it takes to do so, and yes, for people who if money is no object and on a personal level enjoy baking. So why shouldn't they buy it? Why shouldn't he advertise his product? It's not his fault that some people can't afford it, but it's not like he's saying they'll suffer for not buying it.
We call this kind of pie a pastie in the U.K., no need for a big machine like this, unless you make a LOT of pasties. Fine for a cafe I suppose, but folding and sealing a single piece of pastry over a filling is not that hard...
When you have a business that produces said item, pasties, empanadas, etc. It makes perfect sense as you can produce your product faster. Look at how slow cars were built until Henry Ford invented the assembly line. In a few days worth of business - its paid for. Production machines produce and or process most of the food you eat. I highly doubt you make your mac and cheese by hand. Lighten up. And, you spelled 'ridiculously' incorrectly.

While it is beautifully made, it is rediculously expensive! Over $500.00 to keep from hand folding a few pies?
That dog won't hunt!
