About Me:
Hey, I’m Zach! I’m a musical world-builder and coach for composers with a passion for public creativity. I help artists bring their visions to life.
If you enjoyed this video, you can support the time I took making it with a small donation on Patreon. Every amount helps! Be sure to leave a comment with suggestions for future score studies :)
Thank you, this is exactly the type of video I was looking for! They seem so rare to find.
Such an incredible sounding piece. Love the video! :)
Great analysis Zach! Loved it!
Thank you for this great video on this piece. I can learn a lot on how to make the piano sound more like an orchestra.
🙂
This was very informative! Its interesting how much of music can be overlooked even when whats happening is fairly simple. Its obvious in retrospect how the insturments switch roles at the start but as a listener you get swept up in the music and dont realize exactly whats bring done.
Great analysis. I think the oboe accents at the beginning work (you talk about at 6:45 in the video) like the horns did earlier because the horns were stopped, which makes a buzzy sound that's somewhat similar to oboes.
Great observation, I think you're totally right on that!!
Excellent video, thanks for creating and sharing this! I would love to see a score read of danse macabre.
LOVE IT! IVery helpful content. Please do more!
SUMMER! Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Will be doing more score studies soon 😁
Since when does Zach listen to orchestra music!!?? I’m loving it!
I loved this! Please do more
Great Work. After you’ve analysed the score, what is for you the next step to put this into practice in DAW to learn the combination of instrument???
I know it's a bit cliche by now, but I'd be interested to hear your study of Holst's Mars and/or Jupiter pieces...
Also, I always found Goldsmith's Star Trek: First Contact theme a wonderful detour from the (stereo)typical theme up to that point... One of the best reimaginings and wonderfully done in the context of a "first contact" story..
Hey Zach, i loved these score studies, thank you for bringing such quality and educative content for free!!
What about analysing the concerto no 2 movement 1 from Rachmaninoff? One of the best music piece ever written in my opinion :')
Thank you for your work again!
Great suggestion, love that piece 😁
@@ZachHeyde Looking forward to your analysis! :D
I have played the horn for 25 years and have never heard about what you say about the «sound equivalent» 😂 It makes sense, to some extent in an orchestral setting, since we usually point backwards and then the sound gets projected back into the hall. But for studio recording / amplified sessions it feels very different. I think having the mic fairly close, for obvious purposes, makes the horn sound a lot more «trombone-y». Great content, Zach!
(Stopped horn probably reduces the sound equivalent to 1/8 or so, by the way, but I’m just guessing here 😆)
Great input on the horn, love hearing from instrumentalists!!
Mr. Heyde, would you do a score study on a concerto like Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 (the I. adagio-moderato). I'd love to get your analysis on writing arrangements/orchestration in support of a solo instrument. I know it's not very film-related but figured I'd ask. :)
EDIT: oops I just saw @erzloh 's comment
Love this! I suggest Smetana's Moldau next, though it's 13 minutes so it might be a bit long.
Great suggestion 😁
I love score studies vids! May I suggest nintendo music??? orr other classical music
Thanks for the suggestion! 😁
very much enjoyed that, might help me for future projects when I actually decide not to use solo piano for once xD
I feel your pianistic pain 😉
Hey, Zach! Which app are you using to make those nice highlights? 🙂
Heya! That's Piascore :)
Could you do a texture score study with Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez?
Excellent! And great work with the video editing! I spotted your chair. What brand is it?
Thanks so much! It's a Herman Miller--refurbished so I can save a few bucks 😉
I feel proud of being norwigian
i have to do that cover for my channel too :)
0:53 lol 😆
How about you do a score study of one of your own orchestrations? :D
Ooh good idea--you're on to some future content I have planned... 😉
