Krono soach Is it true that the SIG SG 550 is so accurate that you can use it in close quarters with the butt stock folded? The SG 550 length total is 39.3 inches long. Having the rifle that long a good idea for close quarter engagements?
Edward Escobedo you can shoot it with the butt stock foldet but I would not recomend it. The handling is not great when it is folded. Sure when you really need to it will do it's job. But for close combat you would better use the sig 553.
That's cool, but it doesn't mean shit unless you get to keep it, which is something I've heard the Swiss military allows you to do for like a hundred bucks or something
Frédéric Felder no you get to keep it for 100 swiss francs (110$) but it gets restricted to semi only. You have to pay 150 for a special permit if you want to keep it full auto.
As for the sling, i can confirm we use cord to extend it. Pretty simple and works very well. I don't know what the other guy somewhere down in the comments was talking about with "nobody in the swiss army uses cord". We in the infantry sure do.
Great job and very interesting. Sure would like to see you demo the 522 trainer version. That’s perhaps the most reliable 22 in the world, according to many out there who REALLY know their stuff like Nut’nFancy.
You post one video on a beautiful Swiss rifle and suddenly all the Swiss elitists feel the need to talk down on you. Awesome weapons and video man I'm jealous
Thanks for watching, and think nothing of it...its youtube. Don't you know every commenter is a world-class shooter and expert? Doesn't bother me a bit lol.
Seriously awesome, descriptive video. I learned more about the 550 series here than anywhere else, and definitely validated my desire for a Swiss gun over the 551A1. What a fine set of rifles, it's a shame Sig doesn't have the guts to spool up the manufacturing and quality control processes to start a new run of definitively classic rifles. The modularity they're trying to sell the 556Xi on is, in my opinion, highly overrated, and already completely dominated by the AR-15. No point in bastardizing an iconic rifle to be a copy-cat AR competitor.
For some reason I reckon your flashhidder on the last gun is the wrong way round. But I don't even know wether it's detachable.. But the reason because the flashhidder has the three slots is to direct the muzzle flash away from the viewingline of the sights. Makes sense don't it?Greetings from Switzerland
Great video!!!! Is it ok to shoot the gp90 ammo in the 1/7 twist? I would assume so just has always wondered if there was something special about it other than the weight just being more suitable for the 1/10
dim vol No problem. I assume that you live in northern America. I have no idea if the export versions of the 55X series which are available in the US are different in some way. It could still be that you actually can remove the muzzle brake or that these rifles come with a different barrel.
+dim vol As i say in the video, on the 550 and 551 the flash hider is a single piece with the rest of the barrel. So no muzzle threads and it is not removable. It does have internal threads though so it can take a blank fire device.
My cousin just came from Switzerland army. I and my family are from Ukraine and he and his parents and a brother live in Bern. Cousin brought this one home.
I just got my 553 diopter version from Ratworx for $2599.. !! I remember when the FN scars dropped, $6k.... NO THANKS!!! ANother great video.. Thank you.
i dont know much about the ar 15 but the sg is very accurate i shooted with it im from switzerland 300m range is no problem it pulls a bit up but its good controllable and the factory tests every rifle in thire test range a serie of 10 shots 300m and when the diameter os more than 11cm they dont sell it and the production tolerances are very small wich guarantees a high accuracy
Pascal Jakob I've fired the PE90 (we can get them in Canada), and it's incredibly accurate, but the 551 has a shorter barrel, so the velocity will be reduced. I'm wondering how much it will affect accuracy. I mean, I've seen the report you're talking about, where they say that all rifles must shoot the 11cm group from 300m, but it also said that test was done with a 550, not a 551. I'm basically wondering if the 551 is capable of meeting that same standard, even if it isn't tested.
well 1st do you want 551 long or short barrel? if you want the max in precision buy a 550 the 551 are optimized for swat teams (Shorter, lighter) for more agility i mean you have to do compromises it is sure not as accurate as a 550 on long distances but the whole family from 550-553 are accurates just for diffrent scenarios designed
i was in the army with the 550. Great rifle but i always HATED it's iron sights. Standard issue we dont get the fancy 4x ACOG like you guys in the US military get... very sad.
Ozark Bear Arms If the question is still open-ended... there are some units like the Swiss Grenadier-Forces. But normally, troops use the standard SG550.
As a swiss guy, the only thing I see when I watch this video, is you handling a weapon without putting the safety back to S ! The gun is awesome. Not the owner, terrible example given.
If you use the sling like we did in the swiss army then you strap it in by the rear sights - once you try it then you figure that no swiss soldier ever used paracord.
Completely understand why. I just didn't want the sling clip to bang up the finish on my receiver. Private purcahse is a bit different compared with gov't property haha, cheers.
the stuff Sig puts out now is junk sadly😥 that rifle there will last a lifetime.I had a Sig 5.56 had to many problems for me to keep it I sold it and now saving for something a little different but have to say the 'old Sig"s "are awesome and built like a tank!
To be fair, new SIGs share nothing with old/original SIGs. The old ones were built in Switzerland, with Germanic attention to detail and quality. The guns made here in the USA are just from a company ran by Americans only out to make a profit, who just acquired the SIG Sauer name. Aside from that..the name..there's virtually nothing to connect the two companies. In fact, SiG in Switzerland became SAN around 2000. Thanks much for watching, and we're about to post a new video looking at the just-released SG551P pistol, which is another true Swiss construction, cheers.
+Ulrich Lutschmoeis Never said it was an STGW.90. The legalities of owning one ehre....As i say in the video, it is an SG550-1SP. Not Swiss military but it is at least true Swiss (and thus beautiful). Thanks for watching.
I have never hear of this gun. I expected only seeing one model. Got here googing, Jack Reacher firearms. Looks like a solid Gun! ya we get in all get our own little rabit hole... Ha ha, Hope you didn't sell your soul to the fella on the Tractor for 550... LOL
i did my military service with the sig 550, the gun never let me down
Krono soach Das Stimmt!
you can turn the little thing at the top if temperature dops under negativ and if presure changes so it should still work
Krono soach Is it true that the SIG SG 550 is so accurate that you can use it in close quarters with the butt stock folded? The SG 550 length total is 39.3 inches long. Having the rifle that long a good idea for close quarter engagements?

Krono soach Does Sig 553 a grenade launcher attachment or does it use rifle grenades?
One of the best guns ever - please always remember to turn on the safety when you're not shooting, though.
That is an awesome collection sir. I think the Sig 55x series rifles are some of the most beautiful and awesome weapons platform. Thanks for sharing!
i realize I'm quite randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
@Legend Trevor Flixportal
@Finley Ahmir Thanks, I went there and it seems to work =) I appreciate it!!
@Legend Trevor you are welcome :)
Mine is fully automatic maybe because im swiss
+derwilhelmlige tell Well, the army needs to take the automatic out, otherwise it would be illegal.
Frédéric Felder no problems mate, that just goes on to show how gifted we are by our swiss confederation!
Your a lucky duck in USA the SIG 550 is extremely hard to get everyone and their grandpa wants one. Wish I could get a SIG 550.
I really appreciate you review on this type of guns. They get less attention on channels, so keep on doing cool vids on swiss guns. I like it.
As for the sling, i can confirm we use cord to extend it. Pretty simple and works very well.

1:24 man that's a pretty satisfying bolt number you have here !
You'll have to help me, which one is that? My gun but hehe yeah no eyes so.....
Ozark Bear Arms It's 0090 Misha, pretty cool.

+Michael Hofmann It is how it came from the importer when NIB. I have not altered it. Not saying you are wrong, just that that's just how it came.
If you think the sling is too short, there is another hook on the sight that you can use instead of the buttstock
waffe sichere du schluch 😂

Very thorough video. Well done
Hi like your review on Sig 550 Swiss Made Rifles :Want about doing a review on the SIG 551 Swat Version Chris
really, REALLY nice collection!
ive always admired the Sig 540/550 series rifles.
they cut a mean profile!
you dont have a Sig AMT or STG-57 do you?
We actually do have a couple videos up of the Stgw 57 up on the channel. - Jay
Looking to get a 553 soon. Awesome video thanks for the background. Have you shot 223 rounds? Any ejection issues?
Why would there be ejection issues?
Great video Misha. It makes me so happy to see that JDI is again importing more SAN 551's in their original config :)
Shit I forgot how much I love this channel
awesome video, keep up the great work. Tons of respect for you. nice collection...
Thanks much for watching. We're going to revisit the SIG551-A1 and SG550 as part of our anniversary video next month.
If I may ask, how do you adjust the tension of the trigger?
Thanks.
Nice video,
Can you tell me please which kind of muzzle thread or which kind of a muzzle brake you can use for the SG 550 & SG 551.
Thanks
thanks for the info

good video
Are the night sight's on your Sig NH import 553p phosphorus paint or tritium vials?
+ptrueman7 they're tritium vials
+Swiss Experiments - Castagnola007 not on the Sig Exeter NH imports. They are phosphorous paint.
+Patrick Trueman interesting! do you know why?
My cousin just came from Switzerland army. I and my family are from Ukraine and he and his parents and a brother live in Bern. Cousin brought this one home.
Awesome video, great knowledgement and beautiful guns. PS: A good to place to shoot some guns, even with a blind dude handling.
Most accurate assault rifle ever
I just got my 553 diopter version from Ratworx for $2599.. !! I remember when the FN scars dropped, $6k.... NO THANKS!!!
ANother great video.. Thank you.
+Anthony Nash (wolfpunk) I got my553P from RATWorx too. They are great folks over there. I've been doing business with them for years now.
Please do a video on the 556 xi in 5.56 or 7.62
Sorry, just not really interested in the 556XI.
I love this gun
What is this ban I keep hearing about
We actually did a video a few years back on federal gun laws that covers that. The video is titled "BANNED." - Jay
@@MishacoOBA thank you
Cows walking by slayed me
Vs AK-12? ;-))
haha i wish...no AK-12s in the USA and probably never will be sadly.
Shame there wasnt a Stg57 in here!
How accurate is the SG-551? Better than a 16" barrel AR-15, or about the same?
sg is better
Do you have any experience with the 551? Is it an ~1 moa rifle?
i dont know much about the ar 15 but the sg is very accurate i shooted with it im from switzerland 300m range is no problem it pulls a bit up but its good controllable

the old sig 550 model...
About time for another family reunion too...has been a few years now and there are new members these days.
0:35 guy really pointed the gun at his mate while the safety was off:D
Nah he pointed it upwards away from him.
i was in the army with the 550. Great rifle but i always HATED it's iron sights. Standard issue we dont get the fancy 4x ACOG like you guys in the US military get... very sad.
Question for you, did you ever see any SG551 carbine types in the military? Thanks for watching too cheers.
Ozark Bear Arms If the question is still open-ended... there are some units like the Swiss Grenadier-Forces. But normally, troops use the standard SG550.

Ahhh BUT, when the Swiss government discharges you from your military service when you reach discharge age, you may have to give it back. :p
Omg shooting this thing with bipod is supposed to be done completly different. Get your ass down lol.
