Watching these Sig videos can make one very jealous but nobody is more deserving of these guns than Misha. Nobody is more knowledgeable or appreciative than he is.
Misha, I’m doing a poorer man version of what you have. Got a Mini Beryl that I’m going to SBR. Probably going to use the Krebs rail hand guard seeing you can’t get OEM rail. Love the Sig stuff you have good taste.
I will admit that I did not watch the video in its entirety, (so Misha may have mentioned it)however I want to note one important fact. When changing out from the rear plate to a factory folding stock ( sbr) you do want the “spring cup” which is basically a thin shim/washer with a concave shape to it. This is placed along with the pin as Misha describes. The difference with the spring cup is that it gives you the proper resistance and prevents wobble when folding and unfolding and using the stock.
It would be great if Sig considered doing some classic variations of the Sig 522 (22LR version of Sig 556) in the flavors you show here and in other videos. While the centerfire kits are gone or near gone the 22 replicas could be made more efficiently.
The SIG522 was a US SIG Sauer product, actually it wasn't even made up in NH but was subcontracted out. So SIG in Switzerland had nothing to do with that and probably wouldn't ahve any interest. Here's another problem when asking European factories to do .22 LR versions of firearms, they usually want the same money. I know with the FB Beryl out of Poland, they wanted basically $1,200 for the .22 version. Think that would sell? Me either lol
I hear you. Since I also kpt one of the army serialed STGW07 SG553s, i decided to only keep one 552. Can't have everything, and the wife reminded me we have bills to pay this month too hehe.
This video answered two obscure questions of mine that I figured I'd put in the next Q&A: Did the 550 always have the internal threading, and does the 552 charging handle interchange with others. Thanks for preempting me!
Yes, it was an option later on in the 552's production run. This i confirmed with SIG some years back. Not sure how many sold or what but it was a thing for a few years.
No engraving or tax with the braced pistol SBR registration, and then you can switch to a real stock. I'm still waiting to see what happens, but if you were going to Form 1 an SBR anyway, it makes a lot of sense to take advantage of this opportunity.
A lot of unknowns with all of that. Here's one of my worries, can you actually switch to a stock or will they pull some funny business saying the no-tax registration will only allow for a brace; not a stock? Also, these pistols came into the country after Jan 20, so would that matter? Just not sure I am willing to risk it on something like this 552. I think I will play it safe and do it the old fashioned way.
@@misha5670 For sure you can switch. Their FAQ says it's okay, and legally, an SBR is an SBR, so nothing to do except notify them if overall length changed. If you didn't have it officially transferred to you before the rule hit the Federal Register, then I agree it's a no-go. Also, the cutoff was January 31st, not 20th.
@@misha5670 The difference in dates matters a lot for me (legal reasons, not just pedantry), and it might matter to other people reading the comments, even if it doesn't matter to you. I should have said "one" instead of "you" in my original comment, to be clear I didn't mean to address you exclusively.
Sorry yes, i was referring to this gun specifically; the exact cutoff date does not matter because it wasn't in the USA until March either way. Of course it won't matter in the long run too since this crappy thing will get shreaded in court, but patience is a hard thing sometimes when we're being wronged.
A sweet bunch of Sigs. The diopter sights with the quick attach/detach scope mounting points do put it on a higher level of desirability for those of us old enough to have lusted after the original 550s when Bush senior *spit* banned their import in 89. The diopter sight made for a picatinny rail looks interesting though. Wonder how it would look on an AR? Even compare it to HK's diopters for the 416. Perhaps that's a doable video idea?
Unfortunately, i do not have a set of HK diopters now, and putting the Swiss sights on a MR556 has a big problem. While the rear would clamp on, the front needs the SG55x gasblock dovetail. There's no way to install the front Swiss sight on a non-SG55x gun.
@@misha5670 Ah bummer. It would take a custom adaptor mount for the front sight. Still much more achievable than convincing HK to update the mr556 to current 416 standards. I think they are up to the 8th or 9th variant.
Hey Misha: I don't have your contact details, but I'd like to get in touch. Perhaps I may "Subscribestar" for secure / good faith handshake. The kit you want from MFI (that "happens to work") is their SP5 1/2-28 "kit". It includes the "KAC like" cover you want. (New version though; less fancy, no knurling). MFI also makes 1/2-28 "fake" Sig 3-prong (!!!). Although he doesn't stock a lot. (Picture given is misleading, since US bbl have pencil profile; Swiss bbl are "straight".)
Did Mike refine his 552 3-prong? His original version was very, very thick and really not all that authentic. Not criticizing him; he was the first to tell people it wasn't 100% correct.
@@misha5670 From SKU SIG-552-FS: "As close a copy of the original: We spared no expense to get these absolutely correct. Weapons Grade Steel / Mil. Spec. $4k for a preban would be a great deal these days. Those were the most screwed up as they turned the barrel down from 22mm to 19mm, and also machined off the bayo lug ring and demilled the grenade ring hump.

Oh i definitely love the Beryl. Great quality and honest pretty good value at import prices.
Thanks for the engraving tip! I'll intend to do the same to my 552 as well
552 BOYZ
As soon as i test fire this one, i'll file for the stamp. I already worked out the 3 prong flashhider situation, so that's all-good now.
So dang cool! Excellent video! Really appreciate you guys
Thanks much for watching, cheers.
Nice. Always enjoy your Swiss guns.
Nice Misha Like Those 552’s 😀😮😮😀
LOVING this ODGreen and grey. Hoping for the 7.62 16” to come back in those colors

I was lucky enough to get one of the ten new imports. I also have one of the fifty 2021 imports as well. At this point I think I'll keep both.

Feel free to put them in the next Q&A if you like just so others might hear. I'll make a new thread for that next week sometime.
I'll answer one right now. The 552 charging handle cannot be used in a 553 and vise versa.
So what is your opinion of the 552 long barrel?
Supposedly it was offered as an option and I have only seen one in a Swiss military article!
Yes, it was an option later on in the 552's production run. This i confirmed with SIG some years back. Not sure how many sold or what but it was a thing for a few years.
How can I find that sling and have it shipped to Canada?
I’m always a sucker for Swiss guns.

The 552 Commando was my favorite rifle to use in Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I used to want one just because of that game.
