  • We drive the new for 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis in India.
    It was in 2011 at the Tokyo Motor Show at one of the toughest times for Toyota, that Akio Toyoda said that Toyota was being reborn and that there future cars would be more exciting, would be fun to drive. The first car to come to India bearing the legacy of the new ethos is the Toyota Corolla Altis. We took both the diesel & petrol CVT automatic variants for a quick drive to see if it lives up to the promise.

    Got the top end automatic VL variant 2 months back. Very happy with the car. Great for city driving and for long drives. Gives me a 10 in the city and around 16 on the highways. Very silent and gives you a great drive. Would recommend this car over the octavia and Jetta.

    We just recently bought the top end VL....amazing car...evn performance is pretty neat.It delivers power when you nees it..althought the rear A/C vents are missing i didnt really find a reason for one because the ones on the front are really powerfull and cool the whole car pretty fast..

    You should also review the infotainment system and show its features in the same video of the every car.

    Fantastic. A great car just became better. It may not be great fun to drive, but it is spacious, comfortable, looks good and has most of the features that most of us want. The legendary Toyota quality and reliability are mega pluses. If only this car was more affordable. The top end VL automatic seems to be around 20L on road Chennai. Now that's steep. The same car in the USA, fully loaded with more features, would cost less than 13 lacs.
    One query: How has Toyota left out the rear A/C vents in the new Corolla? This is really puzzling!

    • @MultiDell90
      @MultiDell90 9 лет назад +5

      Venkat Gopalan because all MAJOR parts are made in USA Thats why it cost less than 13 lacs and corolla is not considered as luxury car in USA like in India it is considered

      +MultiDell90 You forgot heavy taxation.

    • @MultiDell90
      @MultiDell90 9 лет назад

      Ranjeev Joseph yeah I forgot to mention about it heavy tax rates effects the overall cost of the car and moreover gov had increased tax by 14% so more costly than before

    • @747-pilot
      @747-pilot 8 лет назад

      Actually that's not exactly true. I live in the US and just bought a used 2015 Corolla LE (the middle level model) with low miles for about $12,500 (got a really good deal) to use as an everyday commuter car, to complement my other car, which is the love of my life (2000 Lexus LS 400), but gives very poor gas mileage and uses premium fuel, because it has a 300bhp V8. The brand new 2016 model Corollas have a sticker price range of about $18,000 to $24,000 for the fully loaded model (roughly rupees 12 laks to 16 laks).
      So yes, it is cheaper in the US, but only by a little bit. As far as features, the top end model in the Indian market compares roughly equally with the top end model here in the US, except for the fact that the Indian model is missing a very important and basic safety feature (SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS). This is really shocking!!
      The reason the features are about the same, is because here in the US the Corolla is considered an inexpensive compact "everyday" car. I found it really interesting that in India people call it an "executive sedan". Maybe because of this perception, they can sell it at a slightly higher price there?

      So, you are saying that Indians consider Corolla as a luxury car so they will increase the cost? Logic?

  • @WycliffStudios

    It's a college car in The US and in India it's kind of a entry level premium car lol

    Toyota can you please give us a bigger diesel I mean come on a 1.4 is good on a hatch and that too only 90bhp?? How about a 1.6 or a 1.8 diesel at least please? I will buy one the one reason I didn't buy the present diesel is that pathetic Diesel engine it's enough for a chauffeur driven cat but not for a guy who wants to drive I mean is Toyota even listening to us??
