Differing male and female physical standards are ridiculous. When you are in the field and under fire you both have to carry the same pack and run the same distance.
I have my fitness test in about 3 weeks and just got told by my physio that I need 2 weeks off for shin splints. Not really sure what to do, do I ring up and ask if I can push the date back until I'm healed but have the possibility of them not letting me into the adf for an injury or do I hope that after 2 weeks I've healed and the one week of training ill be fit enough for the assessment
Can you pass the PFA at the moment with your shin splints mate? You may get rejected straight up at the Assessment Session due to Shin Splints it's one of the worst things you can have prior to enlisting I hate to say.. Go in there be honest inform your case manager and they will advise you from there mate your body is clearly not ready for service, did you get this from running on hard surfaces etc?
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 Yeah it was from running around the block. I did my YOU session about 2 years ago was put on a 6 month wait and then got offered a good job. I recently decided to join reserves since I could do them side by side so when I went to join a few weeks back I was pushed through quite quick because my you session was still valid, I have already done my assessment day and was cleared medically but since I've been pushed through so fast I went a bit hard with training and as a result got shin splints after the medical. Its for infantry reserves so not sure to push through the pain or just stop and call up so I wont make it worst. If I call up my coordinator and tell her I have shin splints will they rip my paper work up and say come back in a year or will it be "call us back when you are healed with a medical certificate''

Another scruffy look, must have done a maintenace session in the gym to have that look. So you have the track work done on each day you set aside to keep body in shape and aiming for that entry into military service. Do the best you can and not to a ladder OK
I’m in WA and want to join the reserves as an officer, doing my five and then three blocks of training in the university holidays from 2025-2028. Would have joined as full time in the UNSW ADFA but they don’t have a law degree anymore unfortunately. I’m not sure whether to be an Infantry Officer, Armoured Officer or Military Police (Officer). Also, currently I am very unfit (year 12, male, but currently focusing on school) but I’m giving myself a year to get up to the mark. I’ve transformed from barely able to do five push ups to being quite fit before, but I’m really hedging my bets on it being possible to pull off to a high standard in 12 months. Do you think it’s achievable? I know that the reserves is completely different from the regular army and so you might not know that much about it, but I think I’ll stay in the reserves for a long time (or transition to full time later) so I hope to make the right decision in where I join. In summary, I’m asking: Does everyone hate MPs? Would a reserve infantry officer position be incredibly physically challenging? Are the light cavalry units combat or combat-support? As in, are they infantry who train for direct battle with the enemy but they’re also fast and mobile, or are they instead ‘scouts’, which mostly stay in their vehicles and use their vehicles for combat-support, reconnaissance, and quick-reaction jobs. Could I go from unfit to ‘ready’, at a reserve but also above-average standard, in a year? (with the motivation) I know my questions are about the reserves and the other parts of the army, so I can’t really expect that you’d know what I’m asking, but I thought I’d ask anyway. Thanks a ton! Also, below are some of the factors I’m considering that you don’t have to read, but I thought I’d note. MPs: I’ve heard that ‘No one likes MPs’ from my dad, and also just generally from soldiers even all the way back to the First World War. However, I think it’d be a good, unique experience in my area of interest. It relates to my future legal career, and I like the VIP protection specialisation that I can do in the future. It seems like a less-intense, combat-support role that’s less demanding and not in the fight. It seems good, but I think a more challenging path could be more rewarding - especially if MPs just aren’t really respected at all. Infantry officer: I love platoon level infantry tactics and command, and the small arms focused and badass nature of the infantry. Autistic as it sounds, I’ve studied platoon level infantry tactics since I was maybe 12 years old here on RUclips enough to the point where I have a general idea of what I’d have to do and learn. I’m ready and very motivated to put the work in over the next years, however I feel like I wasn’t ‘born’ tough enough, like what you were talking about. If it’s possible for anyone to get up to the standard and beyond - I think I’m up for it. I would prefer to train to assault the enemy head-on, to kill or capture to take ground, and repel counterattack. Armoured officer: I’d be in the 10th Light Horse Calvary, quite a historically prestigious unit within our state that has just been re-raised in the last couple years. While the reserves aren’t given the main battle tanks or infantry fighting vehicles that I’ve long loved, this Calvary unit has the Bushmasters and similar armoured but under armed vehicles. From the outside, it looks like they play a combat-support role, staying inside their vehicles and zipping around as scouts. Though I can’t be with the big tanks, I think I’d still want be in the reserve armoured corp if it was more of a ‘mechanised infantry’; normal infantry that train to kill or capture the enemy, hold ground and repel counter attack, that just happen to be extra-mobile and can rapidly reach areas. But it doesn’t look like that’s what they are, just more support roles like the MPs. The close-quarters fighting, mask-wearing infantry is more what I want to practise, but if that’s what you also get to do in the cavalry, that’s ideal. I’m just unsure as to what the armoured corp, that isn’t the main battle tanks in the regular army, actually do. It’s quite hard to find info outside of the videos of the exercises, where they’re forced to get out of their vehicles and walk to engage the enemy anyway, so I can’t tell if that’s really the norm or just a rare thing. I know that I want to be an officer in any case, as even though being a lieutenant might look good on a resume, I think I can employ my abilities for the nation most effectively in that type of role, especially if I go full-time down the track. (This is why I still value info on the regular army, because if I go full-time i’ll still end up in the same role). If there’s a position you’d recommend in my position, or if there’s anything I’ve got super wrong, please tell me! Thanks a lot, been a fan for a while.
Your message is to long mate, you don't necessarily get to choose what CORP's officer you want to be and the Arms CORP's officers is for those that are next level fitness naturally, why is it you wish to be an officer over and enlisted soldier you need to be able to answer that, who is your inspiration when it comes to a leader either historically or current and why? If I were going to enter Kapooka, these would be my fitness goals: 20 minute 5km run 60KG strict overhead press 140KG deadlift for reps 40 deficit pushups 15 pullups in a row.
I would say keep away from deadlifts to many injure themselves if they don't get coached and the pull ups sorry dude I could do that many but most cannot or will not get there lol I can hear the fear your sending through to some thinking holly crap i am screwed lol

(with the motivation)
I know my questions are about the reserves and the other parts of the army, so I can’t really expect that you’d know what I’m asking, but I thought I’d ask anyway.
I suggest you jump onto our patreon and we can talk your way through the whole process one on one via our coaching Bat phone for the price of a coffee a month..

Battle fitness is the only way. Be an allrounder. Females isn't the way.
Butt Sore, I don't understand what that is? Maybe that means I am in the right place
Lol basically means upset dude
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 thanks for the intel
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 so I do know the answer, I am just overthinking it as usual 🙂
If I were going to enter Kapooka, these would be my fitness goals:
20 minute 5km run
60KG strict overhead press
140KG deadlift for reps
40 deficit pushups
15 pullups in a row.
I would say keep away from deadlifts to many injure themselves if they don't get coached and the pull ups sorry dude I could do that many but most cannot or will not get there lol I can hear the fear your sending through to some thinking holly crap i am screwed lol
One word - resilience.
I've only ever seen powerlifters do 60kg strict overhead lifts.
Better to have a competent base fitness going in and getting more weight and more specialised once you're in your Corp and getting advice from the vets IMO
Looks like I do not get replies anymore , maybe negative comment eh?
