Hi Cas, I'm 37years old & received my enlistment date for 26th of October. I'll be part of the Transport corps, it's been my dream to serve my country, family and myself since I was 14yrs old. Had a few big (NO) from family earlier on but after losing 15kg, fixing up all of Medicals requests and absolutely smashing my PFA by far more than the minimum standard, I finally got my YES and in 2 short weeks i leave behind my beautiful wife, 15year old & 6 month old son's, so I can also set their future up the best way I know how! I've been watching your videos non-stop since June this & wanted to personally thank you for inspiring me future, I hope one day to cross paths with you and shake your hands. For now, lot's if packing and getting myself ready for enlistment day at Wollongong. Thanks again Cas
A US Army 31Bravo 6-year OEF Vet here from Texas brother! What a great video Cas! Keep at it with the young folk of Australia mate. You're offering incredible and valuable advice to these young folks who think their prepared for what will come next in their career, but, haha, they really have no idea until they go through the experience. It feels me with pride to see that Australians such as yourself and some of the individuals in the comments here are still patriotic and proud of the nation that their forefathers worked so hard to build. God bless and Long Live the United States of America and the Great Commonwealth of Australia and our brothers of the UK, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, the South African Suidlanders, and our other great European brothers and sisters of Europe and around the globe! Godbless and Long Live the Queen! And may God help us during these trying times!
Hey brother for the State of the Long Horn and the famous Alamo the true symbol; of the Patriot, thanks for the greats words from Texas mate, I treasure the memories good and bad that i have accrued through out a life of service and when i see informed comments like yours backing up what I say and do it puts me back into the motivation train to help those that are following behind us. @@inthetrencheswithcas1762 where is Australia headed? In 20 years or 30 years time, where do you think Australia be at? Will it be better? Will it be worse?....as a father i often worry about what my sons life will be like in the future (as im sure all parents do). Lots of issues are going on in our beautiful country, which im not comfortable with. Why is our Government not helping our Farmers in this time of drought (but yet are happy to sell our water and export it overseas at a ridiculously low price)....same goes for the homeless in Australia, our government send millions in aid each year overseas yet turn a blind eye to our own backyard. Also the ''selling off'' of Australia to the Chinese, and also China ''buying up'' all of our surrounding South Pacific neighbours (Islands etc). It seems Australia is becoming ''Less Australian'' as each week passes. You don't have to do a vid on it if ya don't want to mate. Its just a few current topics that i am genuinely concerned about and often think about, which will not only affect the future of Australia, but will also shape and mold our Country, and ''us'' as Australians in the decades to come.
or perhaps how a Veteran Soldier transitions back into a Civilian Life? Pro's and Con's etc.....Is it harder to fit back in to society these days after serving your Country? Do you personally look at the world and Australia in a different view/way, after being Deployed for Active Duty? Negative/Positive etc. My Pop served in WW2 as a Grunt in New Guinea, he never spoke about it at all. I wanted to ask him many questions but out of Respect i never did as many of his Brothers never made it home. I have alot of his pics from the war and also his ''Demobilization Procedure Book'' and a very large shell casing which is about 30cm in height and has markings on the bottom and a date of 1940 (18PR IV 381 MF ...373 ME 11/40) also other symbols. Im glad that you are open and honest and can talk about it, calling a spade a spade.
Mosquitos were so bad during an exercise out the back of RAAF Tindal in the Northern Territory that they bit me on the ass thru Jungle Greens (12 months before we were issued AusCam) and jocks. I got bitten so many times around my wrists I couldn't pick up my SLR.
Exiletwf Tindal now there’s a shit hole, do you remember that poison they called mozzie repellant in those green plastic bottles that felt like the sun touched your skin

Gday Cas, I commented not long ago saying I was going for an assessment day applying for vehicle mechanic. I passed with flying colours and will be enlisting in May 18th 2020 👌
John Samoa Gday, there is three different parts to the assessment session. The medical, the psychological and the defence interview. In The psychological they will ask about your life and questions about your family and other questions like if you’ve done drugs, self harmed etc and they ask questions about how you would feel about certain situation. Just be honest, but not to honest: tell them what they want to hear. It’s not a confession session. If they ask if you’ve done drugs and you have. Just say no. When it comes to the defence interview they will ask you heaps of questions about your chosen role and questions to see if you are suited for the military lifestyle. If you know what your getting into you should be fine. There’s heaps of forums online that layout majority of the questions and the questions on their are identical to what they will ask. All answers are on the offical defence site of your roles. Just know about the job and about what you’ll be doing and you’ll be right.
could you give an in depth guide to answering the questions at the assessment (i got my YOU session tmrw and wanna prepare for assesment right after that
Gday cas, loving watching all your videos and gaining so much added knowledge about the infantry that otherwise would be hard to get. I have always been interested in joining the ADF infantry division but was talked into completing an apprenticeship beforehand. I am still in the same industry 10 years later and haven’t been getting any fulfilment out of it for atleast the past 3. I have a young family, 2 boys ages 1 & 2. I have spoken to my partner about this decision and she has said that she would support me with whatever I choose to do. I am wondering if there are any hidden strains or issues that may come up within infantry life that could have a drastic effect on the family. I want to push myself to the best that I can be. I want to know how much I can go through to help strengthen myself mentally physically and mentally. I don’t want to just clock in and out everyday doing the same thing feeling like I’m like you said “a sheep” I want to be the top dog the sheep dog of the nation I want to make my family and my country proud . I was wondering if you had any tips, advice and/or wisdom in adf infantry life with small children. Thanks again for all videos and the amount of effort you put in to informing us about infantry life that we can’t find anywhere else. Thanks mate
Hey Mick love your energy mate and from a dad to a dad you have options for a military career but I definitely think you and your family can't afford to stuff around you need the facts and the best suggestion would be to come onto my Patreon for at least a month so we can have a good phone call one on one to unpack your options mate. I look forward to helping you and your desire to represent your family name.. Cas
The artwork is called "Still life with stone and car" It was originally a performance piece and the rock was used as a tool to change the shape of the car. Now it's pretty much lost its intended meaning which was monuments against nature and who would win. (Nature being the victor on this one). Did you see the sign that says "Art work Ahead"? they put that there so people would not call emergency 😂 If i was to say what this art meant it would be "Don't place too much faith in the life you have built around you as being that way always. It's possible that a big ass rock could come out of nowhere and dump reality on your plans. So look up and out every once and a while" 😜
Oh Cas. 2RAR Second to none. 6RAR....NONE LOL. Sorry mate gotta drop that when you say it lol. Ok. Guys please listen to what Cas is saying. Keep your family informed about your decision to be a part of our brotherhood. Because that's what you will become when you have earned your Skippy badge. You become my brother. But don't let people, even your family stop you from following your desire to be part of as Cas says 'the best small army in the world'. It's a calling. Its all I ever wanted to be and even with the injuries I have now, both mental and physical, I wouldn't change a thing about my career. Actually I would. I joined at 17yrs of age. That was a mistake. I should have waited till I was more mature and fully grown. However I persisted and made myself the best that I could be and marched into 6RAR, BROTHERS BY CHOICE, as an 18yr old Private. It was hard work and I wanted to quit on more than one occasion but the drive of wanting to follow in my father's and grandfather's footsteps kept me going. Look deep inside yourself and find YOUR reason for wanting to serve your country. You wont regret doing it believe me. DUTY FIRST.
Hey mate, instructors go easier on older recruits but also expect more from them in regards to peer nurturing and passive guidance but also more leadership due to maturity so to speak i say go for it before your to much older mate you have skills the army appreciates,
Hey cas so I dropped out halfway through year 10 to pursue an apprenticeship but it’s not for me and to put it I’ve found my calling and I have my eyes set on joining the Australian infantry. What do you think would be the quickest way to get this sorted all I know is that tafe do such things as equivalent certificates for year 10 just wandering if there’s any other maybe easier ways like something that would take one day just a test or something thanks.
Hey mate I’m in the same process! Contacted CIT to redo my year 10 high school just waiting back! So my brother had to do the same thing and he done it through CIT and said it’s good and you can do it really fast but he stuffed around a bit so took him a bit longer but, if you smash it out you can get it done faster! Have you got it done now that it’s been 2 months? Cheers man
I’d love to see a video where you go a little more in depth about infantry and specifically, women working as infantry soldiers. As of late, I’ve been considering choosing infantry as one of my top three career paths, though me being a woman is causing some doubt to whether or not I am physically capable. Please shed some insight.

Hey Cas, I know there are positions in the defence force that require you to learn a language, this is an area I am interested in though I can only find positions within the navy and I’m not much of a sailor, do you know if there are other positions which would include language in the air force or army? Thankyou loads
Megan hey mate learning languages is very targeted on threat etc and you don’t get to choose the language you want to learn it’s army needs and the CORP’s that normally learn Lang’s are Intelligence and signals but I suggest you do it as a hobby it’s very unlikely anyone will be Learning year long Lang courses much while we’re in peace time army mode as tech is also creating tools that translate etc
How you going sir, Just a quick question, I’m 17 turning 18 next year and looking to take a gap year after grade 12 an am interested in taking a the path as an infantry soldier ( gap year ) to get an experience of what’s army life is like. Should this be the route I take is it wise to proceed along with it at this stage? Regards
It is a way but to be honest mate I am not a fan of doing all the hard work of training then getting out when all the fun is about to start a year will not allow you to know what it feels like to be a soldier and your mind will change once you have realised yes you can do it and have all new buddies, brothers and sisters. I recommend going in for the four years it's only four years and it gives you a lot.
Hello Cas, I just started watching your videos. I am willing to join the ADF. Brief! 39 years old, Australian Citizens (born overseas) Bachelor degree under my pocket and other studies. For some reason I never thought I could join the ADF. However, The information got to my hear and my dream of a military career is alive again (I had to forget about it when I was 17). Sorry, I DON'T intend to write a book. Now, I did my application already and presented the attitude test. I have to way what is next step. Love sports and I was accepted to university by sport scholaship. My question will be: How is the process for older candidates? What career time the ADF expect for these candidates? What was your experience in your career with people that born overseas? Thanks in advance! Esteban
Hey there Esto, as long as your fit, can speak english properly, enjoy being part of a team and have some dark humour to get you through any cold, hot, wet or shit times your going to be fine but do be realistic in what CORP's you want to enlist into for example I would say don't go for infantry but I would say go for Intelligence, don't go for armoured CORP's but it's fine to go for Signals CORP's etc CORP's are driven by personality, youth and similarity and your clearly going to be mature and more mature people should move toward more mature roles. Welcome.. Cas

Angela Anderson hey mate quick answer for you no they don’t.. They can but don’t we also don’t use mega phones to yell into.. You will be spoken to and or at.. Hi Cas,
I'm 37years old & received my enlistment date for 26th of October.
Gday Cas, I commented not long ago saying I was going for an assessment day applying for vehicle mechanic. I passed with flying colours and will be enlisting in May 18th 2020 👌
Hey Max.. sorry just wanted to find out how you prepared for your assessment session? And what type of questions did they ask you?
Just know about the job and about what you’ll be doing and you’ll be right.
im so nervous for my assessment day 8 october

Thanks mate

DUTY FIRST.
Thanks Cas, another informative video. Do you think Kapooka is harder to get through compared to Singleton?
My question is, How does the ADF look upon late 20s, early 30s enlisting? Does the maturity account for anything?

How you going sir,
Just a quick question, I’m 17 turning 18 next year and looking to take a gap year after grade 12 an am interested in taking a the path as an infantry soldier ( gap year ) to get an experience of what’s army life is like.

Hey there Esto, as long as your fit, can speak english properly, enjoy being part of a team and have some dark humour to get you through any cold, hot, wet or shit times your going to be fine but do be realistic in what CORP's you want to enlist into for example I would say don't go for infantry but I would say go for Intelligence, don't go for armoured CORP's but it's fine to go for Signals CORP's etc
CORP's are driven by personality, youth and similarity and your clearly going to be mature and more mature people should move toward more mature roles.

hey cas i just had my YOU session today and was able to go into all but 3 jobs across the ADF and i just got my report back and passed english but in math i got a 67% in my exam and a 44% in my course mark would that still be enough to be accepted?
Ares Kebabzy you must pass both math and English otherwise they won’t accept you, how ever if so there are other pathways you can take
hey cas, i was wondering do you need to be smart to become a infantry soldier?
You don't need to be extremely intelligent but not dumb as rocks either, as long as you're motivated and drive for success you can achieve anything you set your mind to. I recommend seeking resources to help you practice, such as ADF mentors.
Hey cas
hey Cas is 44 too old to join the infrantry? I am super fit and sick of earning 250k per year in front of a computer
Hey CAS how do I get a 2rar challenge coin... second to no c$%t

@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 cheers cobber. Lemme kno.
I am a non-citizen but I wanna join the military, what are my choices??
Are you a resident in Australia at the moment as long as your in the the country full time as a resident and in the process of becoming a citizen you should be able to apply, where are you from
Hey, Cas. im 15 going on 16 this year. I've been told that I can enlist at 16. is it worth it or should I wait till later?
Don't rush it, I'm 17 but wanted to join at 16 but now looking back at it wouldn't have been ready for it, my enlistment is in 20 days lol
I'm pretty sure you can only enlist at age 17, but you can apply at age 16 and 6 months
Hey cas my name is Liam Parsons I need help I want to join the Australian defence force I only want something that is dangerous and makes me think on my feet that is so hard that most people give up I haven't had much luck with myself so far finding something that is difficult other jobs I looked at made ment more about a job and less of a duty that I could follow I want to be told what to do and to get training that will help me become the proper australian I have a very dominate personality so I strive for my team to work the best in situations what job in the defence force can I do that will allow me to feel the sweat of a hard days duty i looked at the sas and so far it's the only thing in myself that I can truly feel like I would be successful being in a team and working at the back of my unit and completing the duty no matter how hard it was set I am not looking for glory only something that will allow me to be down to my core
Hey Cas, just in regards to applying.. I was charged as a minor (16yrs) for an altercation.. I'm 21 now and heading for a YouSession in several weeks.. should I expect to get knocked back?
John Samoa depends on what the conviction was for and what the conviction was exactly, talk about it with your advisor
@@deanhine hey Dean.. had my you session last week and they didn't mention nothing about nothing.. I'm in the assessment queue currently but I'll bring it up then.. fingers crossed though.. have you heard of any blokes successfully joining the ADF with a record?
Its not impossible, providing it wasnt anything too serious and you've 'kept your nose clean' since, i know of a few guys that have had some run ins with the law and still gotten in but it can be difficult sometimes
@@deanhine I ended being sentenced to serve 12 months in Juvi.. have you heard anything of this? Are my chances slim? Sorry to bombard you with qurstions.. just wanna get as much info as I can before I go in. Cheers mate
@@johnsamoa6761 how did you go mate?
SOAP ON A ROPE 😂😂😂
Damn not quite the first this time
Maybe next one mate keep at it your more than welcome to keep trying i never make it to first on the channels i follow either.
It's not the sheep dogs you've gotta worrie about.
It's the angry dogs who work sheep.
Woof/Moo etc...
Never have to worry about the sheep dog he looks after the sheep, from wolves and at times themselves.
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 Sheep dogs can go feral. The Angry Dogs who worked sheep, they weren't in the mood for crap. And they do a job no-one expects but will flip if pushed.
The scariest guy I EVER met (and I have real life experience) came from 2RAR.
I've seen wolves, dogs and pussies. The diff is just circumstance, timings or opinions.
They are still controlling the channel as I left a positive comment to Nev and it doesn’t exist?
