Thank you for this review, and I appreciate your honest opinion on any art material that you work with! I love Meeden's sundries especially their ceramic palettes, of which I own several, but given that I already own a plethora of artist and student-grade watercolors, I wouldn't have been interested in their selection. I think that companies need to realize that the watercolor paint market is saturated and we don't need more paints, least of all low-quality paints. I wish that companies like Meeden, who are already doing very well with the ancillary products would lean into this part of the market. There is a type of travel palette that doesn't exist, but I wish I had the capitol to create it, and a company like Meeden is financially positioned to do so. Therefore, I wish they would innovate in this space rather than try to branch into the paint market.
@@SketchesnScrubs Thank you lady! And yes, I changed my handle since RUclips was forcing me to use my old username from forever ago. I don't understand what they are doing or why, but CeruleanCzarina is a newer handle that I am using on other platforms. Thank you for recognizing my icon!
Meeden 100 percent cotton paper is awesome. I used with Schminke paints and the colours stood out. The ceramic pallets are great. Their paints are mediocre.
Great to know - I love the ceramic palettes - just got a large rectangle.
I ordered a pack of three of those MEEDEN ceramic mixing plates from Canadian Amazon for about $20. None of them were chipped . My experience has been excellent. I think the value was excellent. I've seen far cheaper, less useful *single* mixing plates from mainstream Canadian art shops for nearly the same price point of $20.
Seems like it could be a nice package for someone who doesn’t want to figure out everything they need and just want to get started quickly. I have never tried their paints / brushes / paper and I already have my favourites in each of those categories 😊. However, I have tried Meeden ceramic palettes and metal travel palettes and I do really like their palettes. I ordered multiple shapes / sizes of their ceramic palettes because I like them so much. I think you gave an excellent review!
Appreciate your instruction and knowledgeable opinions. I think this set would make a very nice gift. I’m thinking of friends preparing for retirement.
Thanks. I’m new to watercolours and this was very helpful.
I’m so glad! Feel free to ask any questions if you need help or get stuck x
Thanks for the great review. I got this set for around $12... and i just love playing with it. I feel free to make big juicy puddles and mix and play and have fun. The colors are so vibrant... Definitely not for fine art, but very fun to play around in my mixed media SketchBook.
That’s a great price!! Thank you so much for watching and sharing ❤️
@@SketchesnScrubs so... to be clear, the price was just for the paint! Not the whole set.
Thanks to the artist's views, we have the chance to encounter different materials and techniques. Thank you for sharing your impressions with us. :)❤👍
It's funny, I hadn't seen other reviews of this set so I just searched for them. I see a rave review and a "don't waste your money" from Lindsay. You are the third result :)
Pleasant experience to watch an honest review. Thank you-this took a lot of time & work. Great job.
Thank you so much Beth! I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement. I hope you are well xx
I think you’re absolutely right it’s definitely got brightness in it or die or both. And I find most student grade water collars don’t granulate at all because they’re synthetic
The set of colors definitely looks impressive, I will buy in the future, the colors and the set overall also are very beautiful (the small chip is nothing of importance). Thank you for review, pretty hair lady 😊😊
I actually love cellulose, I feel like an outsider for it sometimes 🤣🤣
I agree I think as a beginner set very good as it includes so much and resonable price too thank you for this review enjoyed ❤😊 the vibrant colours really stood out for me, which I like
Absolutely loved Video and your way of teaching! I was interested in Meeden watercolors, I would purchase some but not the paint set, I’ve been painting for a while and have favorite brushes and colors. I’m interested in beautiful purples and greens, and understand when you said they all didn’t play well with others. Learned while watching you on your swatch sheet with doodles underneath! I will steal this part! I will go back and do this with my paints! Bet Tip Ever! Thank you for sharing your brilliance with me, Karen Dirmish
Great, thorough video. Thanks, Sketches!
Thanks to Becca Hillburn a youtuber who reviews cheep art supplies, I learned that if a volor doesn't granulate it's probably dye based. Also I think meeden and baohong are from the same company, because I noticed that sometimes baohong is listed as meeden watercolor paper which was really confusing until another artist pointed out that they might be from the same company. It's nice to know though that they offer cheep nice paper, many would claim that their paper is either watercolor paper or 100% but it's just a nightmare to paint on 😅 and I think py1 is not usually used because it's not a lightfast color.
Thanks for the review. It's really helpful in its frankness. It does seem really good value, especially if you're starting out. But once you're using quality products, like DS and Schminke, I find you don't look back. I can't tell you how many sets I no longer use!
Great video. I always enjoy artists opinions of different paints and supplies. I tend to practice on cellulose and do “real paintings” on 100% cotton. I must admit that it’s been over two years since I used cotton, lol!
i bought this set and im very happy with my purchase
Great video! I love their ceramic and metal palettes! I haven't tried the paper yet, but heard it was made by Baohong so I am not surprised you liked it. 🙂 A third of the paints contain fugitive pigments, so I will pass on those.
I appreciate reviews, good and bad👍 And I used both cotton and cellulose, depending on what I am trying to achieve😊
Amazing review! I would like you to review all what you get so we can know what to buy and what to avoid!
I am using selilus paper but I ordered 100% cotton to upgrade to!! So existing 😂
I use both types of papers for different purposes. Greatly prefer 100% cotton, but use cellulose to practice.
nice review, tks for sharing
I came across this paper on Amazon and wondered if there were any review! I think I’m going to pick it since I like cotton paper.
i’m a artist , I subbed 🙏🏽🙂
I have the same exact printer. I love it! 😊
Meeden 100% watercolor paper is actually made by Baohong. It's really nice. And inexpensive.
I love Meedens' ceramic pallets. I have a few, but want more. You can never have too many! My favorites are the square ones with 12 wells and a lid for mixing. They're nice for the studio and don't take up a lot of space on my table. 😁❤️
Couldn’t find the printer listed, could you kindly advise which it is?
@@Kyomiibrown she has it listed as My Watercolor Printer in the description.
100% cotton and Fabriano fat pad, 25% cotton to quickly swatch a color or test out mixes.
I use a cheap heavy drawing paper from blicks. I'm outside in woods most of the time.
The pbk11 woth the pbr 6 was probably just because they wanted a bit of granulation. I love moxing with pbk11, you can get really dusky moody colors. ❤
@@SketchesnScrubs That's wild. Hard to believe for sure that it actually contains those pigments. Strange 🤔
they def look very bright and prob paints i would use, scan/photograph and then put in he dark so it doesnt fade. i cant afford cotton paper lol
if i start looking on jacksons i will just go and buy a lot of fisher paper lol and that stuff aint cheap since i tend to buy the huge sheets of it 😆
First! And I use 100% cotton.
The meeden paper is just white labeled boahong or it used to be it may have changed
Meeden Paper = Baohong Academy..just fyi. Personally I love Baohong, especially their Artist series. My daughter tried their paint set..except for the paper, she wasn’t impressed.
Heh you finally discovered the real magic of the cotton paper - it fixes your mistakes and the less good paint! I'm not impressed by those pigments either - PO13? PR21? Those are dyes. PY1 is super fugitive. I love the Meeden palettes -- tin, porcelain, plastic, I like everything I've bought. But I'll stay away from the paint! Brilliant purple definitely has a flourescing agent in it -- it's supposedly PV23+ white but that would be a pastel and it's actually a redder purple.
Hey, I have a question. A little while ago you answered my question on what paper to use for your Epson printer. Not only have i lost that message, i cant find which printer you use anymore either…! Can you help me out here, please 😂
Oh bless you, sweetheart! Ordering it now so I can start making dotcards for my tiny Ko-fi club! 😌
100 % cotton
