Great tips! I made an eyelet dress a while back and sewed it entirely with a serger (narrow stitch); it made me nervous at the time but it worked great and it's very sturdy.
I made a white raglan sleeve blouse with solid fabric fit the bodice and eyelet for the sleeves. Then i used a separate eyelet lace for a ruffle finish at the wrist. Very feminine.

I use french seams which helps avoid the uneven edges
