I just got mine on Friday and I agree with everything that you said. I have been having an amazing experience so far. I am new as well and I am very blown away by playing older games on an AMOLED at 1080P.
@@RikCarranza I have been playing a few games. Dino Crisis on PS1 at 1080P looks amazing and runs great. Link to the Past on SNES and Super Metroid on SNES. Games that I never got to play much when I was younger but now have a chance to play on the go. What about yourself?
@@RikCarranzaplay cod black ops zombie I play hell divers on vita emulation on it I play pal world and fortnite on it along with playing arcade fighting games and multi player PS1 games to play with friends on a TV with a remote
I’ve really been loving mine, I spent like two weeks now getting all the games I wanted and to my surprise it was able to run some switch games too which was nice to find out.
Great review. I can't love the RG556 enough. The price to performance ratio is phenomenal. I picked one up as an upgrade to my 5 year old GPD XD+ running Android 7. It's still an incredible retro portable, but i couldn't resist the RG556's ability to run PS2 games at this price point. The AMOLED display is stunning, it's ultra comfortable to hold and play, and it plays and displays PS2 games incredibly well. You're 1000% right when you say the games actually look remastered. Playing my all time favorite PS2 games like MOH Frontline and Contra; Shattered Soldier again is a dream come true. And they look so damn good! So much so I crossed my fingers, took a chance and picked up that 480 PS2 game SD card from Aliexpress( highly recommend, it's actually a very well rounded and deep games list) and the RG556 runs them beautifully after installing a couple apps. This is such a truly great hand held. Even the much more powerful and expensive Odin 2 doesn't come with an AMOLED screen this premium and beautiful.
Trying to decide for weeks now between this one and Retro Pocket 4 Pro. Screen looks gorgeous on the RG556 but performance, software and the buttons, especially dpad and sticks are quite better on RP4P. Nice video, man!
It was a hard decision! I really agonised on this vs the RP4 Pro. Ultimately the ergonomics and screen won it out for me! So far no regrets (until I try at RP4P and see if I'm missing anything!). And I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Ha I think we all had the same decision!! I watched NUMEROUS vids on each....I went with the 556 for the 5.48" screen!! This is also my first dive into the emulator world!!
A great review for a person like me❤ I've been dabbling with a bunch of these handheld devices, they all suc as far as ergonomics goes, im still trying to put "thick and penetrative gripp on my switch" and it still not goodxD -this however, made me want to play again 😊
Good Review. Thanks. I asked ambernic if they've fixed the joystick snapping but they didn't seem to understand what I was talking about... They don't seem to be aware of this problem while every single reviewer is talking about it...
Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed the review! I initially didn’t think it would be that much of an issue until I started using games pass and it was…an experience…
The rg556 is very good. But about the battery.. the Accubattery app is showing that the real capacity is 3600 battery and not 5500. And the efficiency is at 74%. I received mine 3 days ago.
@@RikCarranza Thanks for answering me friend. I will do this in the next few days. My battery in ps2 games lasts around 4 to 5 hours of direct use on the AetherSX2. How many ps2 hours does your battery last? more One question I have... is it possible for me to replace the battery if it ever becomes necessary?
Hey a new sub here. We have a lot in common, I'm also a huge retro fanatic and have 2 retro handheld devices myself and looking into buying this one. Also might post reviews, so very impressed by your style, I'm your 200th sub!
Physically modding electronics is easy. If you want experience, take apart old tech you own and don't use. Get right in there and dirty, lol. Great video, you got another sub.
Hey! Absolutely! Dolphin Emulator, OpenGL on Video Backend and 1x Internal Resolution. I get around 60fps when actually playing but this drops to around 45 fps with some audio glitches in the menus.
Thank you for commenting! While I appreciate that maybe there should be some more shots of the console (I am relatively new to this), I did make sure that in my script I reviewed the console and not my face. Otherwise that review wouldn't have been as favourable!
Can you put games on internal storage ? I mean it's an android you should but gotta ask :D Cause I plan on playing older games don't see the need for an SD card for me. Every lil bit money saved is important :D
I was really surprised myself when I finally got a hold of this. I wasn't sure I would like this based on the pictures that I seen before it arrived. Like your content and you're really funny subscribe to you. Since you're new to the handhelds you should check out the game kiddy pixel
Hey! That’s kind of you to say and I’m glad you’ve liked what you’ve seen so far!! And I agree with you. I was worried even though I had done so much research but honestly haven’t regretted it. It’s a great piece of kit

Hey @thx4478. I used Accubattery as well and my battery capacity was coming out at 5300. If yours is reading lower I would reach out to Anbernic!

@RikCarranza I'd have to say Contra! My favourite game of all time is Ninja Gaiden

Hello! Can I ask what setup you did to run mario kart wii so nicely without lag?

What kind of systems does it play I.m can’t find a list and want to know
I’m managing some Wii games on it. Up to PS2/GC runs well on most games.
Can you play games from the Google play store?
I haven’t done so yet but I believe you can!
Yes!
how do devil may cry play on the unit .
Smooth on PS2 using the pal tom and at 1x
I'll give it a try. If there's interest I can do a game play video to show off various games!
