Nice channel! I have a feeling tho that if I buy this and finally play Dreamcast and GameCube at 99% accuracy, my addiction to retro handhelds will end😓 I don’t want that to happen⛈️
I love your review. Very thorough. However, as good as it gets in terms info Android handhelds that is worth the price tag is the Odin 2. More or less the same concept with higher performance. I love the clear blue of the Anbernic, maybe better than the frosted blue Odin 2… Man, when are we gonna get a morphably ergonomic perfect unicorn handheld? Let’s get a shape shifting handheld!! Where’s that??
odin 2 $500 vs this $300? (in my currency) thats alot more money. the odin is actually overpriced. if your dead set on fast ps2 emulation then you will have to get the odin though
Does this RG556 feels good playing games like Minecraft and other 3D games with this thumbsticks? This is holding me back on my final decision. I KNOW this screen is gorgeous, can play thousand of games right but the thumbsticks being too short could make games unplayable. This is a question for Rg556 owners.
I'll bite - I like the thumbsticks, it works for me, I have larger hands (which is probably most likely to be a problem?). It makes for, for some games, a great d-pad "replacer", I find it accurate for up,down, left, right. For 3D games, I can steer it where I want to and have no issues. Certainly not enough to bother getting gullikit replacements, seems like a lot of work and if it doesn't work after I put it back together I'd be very sad. Love it, it has become my single device, I think I'm going to sell everything else (Steam Deck, Ayn Odin Lite, RG405M, RG552 and a bunch of smaller handhelds). It's the screen, nothing has anywhere near as good a screen, honestly I don't even think a SD OLED would be as nice, because the pixel density would be far lower (200ppi vs 400ppi)
What about the HDMI capabilities? I have seen 0 videos showing the HDMI capabilities on a TV yet. Is it any lag? Can you compare it to a Switch? Someone need to post videos with this device connected to a TV please. Thank you
I really REALLY wish the screen was 7-8". Would be a great PlayStation Portal alternative for both a PS5 and a gaming PC alongside being decent for retro emulation.
How does this compare to retroid pocket 2? There are so many handhelds its hard to keep track of them all. I'm due to receive my RG35XX H in a few days and I'm hooked to these things. Eagerly waiting...
What I like about the rp4. games detect it as an xbox controller, so playing call of duty mobile is playable with the buttons. On the 556, it doesn't detect the buttons so instead, you have to map them, that's still not as good!
Nice, but I think these emulator handhelds are at their best when playing handheld retro games, prefer playing dreamcast and up on a dedicated system with its own big screen tv.
You are wrong. The whole thing of a portable handheld gaming system is that it's portable. You want something with a good 5 or 6 inch screen, bigger if you prefer. But the future is mobile/portable gaming. Consoles are a thing of the past.
It upsets me that I couldn't get this handheld for under $200 amonth ago. Question: is it worth it buying this instead of the Switch knowing that Switch 2 I'll be released next coming year? Should I get Switch instead of this, if answer is no,reasons why this over Switch. Thank you
I avoid telling people what to buy because there are just too many variables. I'd consider the games you can play on both and let the be the deciding factor. Which has more games you know you'll play?
If you're using the stock os, save files, and save states should both be in the rom folder. so /roms/gba with the same name as the rom files. I have a 353vs but since they both run rethroarch through emulationstation should be the same. For android, the save files are in /Retroarch/saves.
How does geforce now perform, xbox cloud is hot garbage in Australia, and I've heard a lot of people saying the eifi chip on this device is poor, wanna see if it's worth it for gfn and psplay
Just curious as to why you chose to pay 229 when on the official ambernic site it goes goes 189. Besides the sd card, is there a difference I'm missing?
This thing has such a great screen, but I just can’t get past how ugly it looks lol. If they just did a few cooler color schemes maybe it would look better.
@@scaryifliteral I think it’s just the color schemes for me. I’ve always loved when they do like a SNES theme or a DMG Game Boy theme. I will say that the way the plastic looks so clear and see through on this one is pretty cool.
