    If it helps … I had a Volvo V60 R-design 2021. Didn’t love it as a daily driver in the UK so sold it. Just got a 2019 Countryman S and am totally in love.
    Practical, fast and puts a smile on my face every time. Plus the mini was a LOT cheaper

    I've had a 2020 for almost 2 years now, almost the exact same spec as yours except the sunroof and the color. I love this car, but I do have a couple complaints. I think the transmission is a huge downfall of this car, it should have come with a manual option or a dual clutch auto. The shifts are way too harsh especially in sport mode. Also I think the wheel gap is horrendous, but some new suspension will fix that. It's an extremely capable car that's fun every single time I get in it. I also like that not many people know what it is, it doesn't get a lot of attention on the road. Great review!

    • @ThomasYap
      @ThomasYap  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. on certain gears, the upshift is harsh. I actually like the wheel gap. Guess it a personal thing.
      But I love the fact that it is cute and people don't pay much attention to it.
      Thanks for watching and sharing your experience

    Fantastic video from an enthusiast perspective… have you seen someone wrap the top of a countryman?
    coming from an R56 S manual and an M3 manual, I’m opting for the 2019 240hp just so I can get the manual. I’d choose the stick over 300hp personally. Name another small suv that can provide this much driving joy, practicality. and you can get it in stick (if you buy second hand).
    Would be interesting to see you do a video camping with the car, some
    comments on fuel economy or how it holds up running errands in tight city driving. All the best

    Thank you for the enthusiast view point. I'm coming from a mk6 GTI, and considering a Mk7.5 GTI or Countryman JCW. Your experience was great to hear. There are very few comparisons with the GTI, despite the comparable size. I drove a Countryman S, and was disappointed. The JCW version did not disappoint. Thanks again!

    • @ThomasYap
      @ThomasYap  9 месяцев назад +2

      Yep! I felt the JCW really rides so much better and steers so much better than the S.

    Aiming one soon. If you plan to let it go buzz me 😂. Its a combination of feeling of driving a suv with hatchback size. 2 in 1. Family + Performance + Driving Pleasure .. Name one car has all this? 300hp for daily city drive. Thats too much of power. No regret. But you might regret if you let it go. No replacement, unless you have different car criteria in the future. Nothing to mode cause it is “perfect” baby. Enjoy driving.

    i had a F82 and currently a 991.2 GTS, but i still think my wifes Countryman S is one of the best daily drivers you can buy in Malaysia

      Don’t you find the f60 countryman S to be too slow? I drove the manual f60, and jcw automatic f60. S seemed to have not quite enough power. Going to pickup a manual jcw

      Its a comfy city SUV, so in that aspect its got enuff power for me. If i wanted more power, i would have gotten a Golf R

    Glad to hear you are enjoying your Mini, I'm picking mine up in a week. It's exactly the same Chili red (registered Sept, 2019) as yours but without the heads up & we do have the sun roof & 19" JCW wheels! Super excited now hearing your positive review & it will be interesting to compare as I'm currently using a 23 reg Clubman Copper S which is good but i'm not a fan of the twin opening boot doors.

    Hi Thomas , wanna know your experience with the maintenance cost if you’re comfortable sharing it , probably just a range . Country man JCW is tempting but I am waiting for the new 2024 CRV but the price range will be quite steep . Basically both of them will be at the same price range . But I’m still puzzled whether to go with my heart or brain for this .
    Appreciate your inputs

      I find JCW’s ride quality better maybe it’s the All4. If the S has All4 should be nicer. Test and try.
