Keep an eye out when he gets to the part about irony; there’s an image of rain on a wedding day, which is a jab at Alanis Morrisette’s big hit song “Ironic” which is notorious for using the term “ironic” incorrectly.

I think the origins of the spelling problems in texting are from the early phones that allowed texting BUT we only had the telephone keypads to work with and each letter was shared by 3 numbers! It was born out of trying to text as quickly as possible

I've always regarded that emails and internet posts should be written as clearly as a letter. (Do you remember those?) I notice that RUclips's "spell checker" can be quite wrong, at times. Still, I will check the spelling on seldom-used words, if it "doesn't look right." I have misspelled words when I didn't proofread responses, so I too, am guilty of "Word Crimes." I looked up Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and wanted to wash off the keyboard! (It's "Rapey" stuff.:(

Prince is the only artist to have turned Al down multiple times when asked for permission to do parodies of some of his songs, and has apparently been rather nasty about it. So Al sneaks in a Jab at prince every now and then in his songs as a subtle payback for being a jerk.

But I particularly like his criticism of "I could care less." I have always disliked that expression because, as he says. It means you DO care. I don't know if you guys are fans of the Simpsons or not, but he has a nod to one of their longtime characters (now since retired, due to the death of the voice actress), Mrs. Krabappel. Right after he sings "If you don't know how to conjugate", it scrolls to the top of the paper where the teacher's name is Mrs. Krabappel. Notice also, at the very beginning of the song, where he shows pages of the dictionary, you can quickly catch "accordion" (his instrument of choice) and a picture of himself within the pages of Webster's.

What’s funny (at least for me) is that I know people try to get their point across quickly in texts or web posts. But for me as the reader come across a spelling or grammatical error it as though the writer just threw up a brick wall and I have to stop and think about what they’re saying.

It doesn't help when some people don't even bother with simple punctuation like commas or periods - or they use commas in place of other punctuation. It makes people's statements challenging to understand at best, and horrific at worst. 😖

Edit: beyond the above, 0 (ZERO) reaction to the cunning linguist lyric. So it's just these blokes being bleh. Tracking now and my own reaction to this video makes sense. 🤮 why even bother posting this, blokes?

It bums me out that you guys have gone so downhill with the reaction choices lately. I love the stand up reactions but all the family guy videos and random ones like this just aren't entertaining. Still love the channel and I understand there's only so much stand up but there's so much out there still! This crap is just cringy, weird Al wasn't even funny back when we were kids... that being said, it's hilarious watching the fella on the left dance during the song haha

I just don't know anyone that thought he was funny after the age of like 10. Most comedic "geniuses" have far more success and stick around way longer as well. I'm just bored of their reaction choices in general tho and this was more just the icing on the cake, nothing against him specifically. I like the channel a lot but losing interest

Also, with Twitter and TikTok, there are character limits, so ppl use shorthand. I think if you can understand what ppl are saying, then it's fine, but people are just being pedantic and they don't have a real argument. It's also kind of classist because not everyone is well educated. It's a RUclips comment, not an academic paper!
