    YES!! Thanks to you and Eric for doing this intro. It's been a challenge to find good material on UCCNC use, let alone the Stepcraft custom UI. Content was either too cursory (Identifying a function button, but not actually explaining functionality in a context) or focused, but in such a manner that still made it impractical/non-applicable with respect to the Stepcraft UI. I'm so glad to hear that they're now in a place where they can put out much needed content on this.

      Thank you, I figured it could help people who are trying to get into the hobby. Finding the information to keep the learning curve going constantly forward is hard, this was an effort to make at least the controller information a little easier to get to. The guys at Stepcraft have always been there to help me.

    i just assembled my 1000 M and couldn't get the UCCNC to get out of demo mode. i will call stepcraft tomorrow to see what i did wrong..i did download it from the provided thumb drive and added the licence. excited to finally get it up and running. Stepcraft needs to step up its game and include a better assembly manual and videos.

    Someone should add that the 93 videos mentioned in this video are made for their previous version machines (V2), so It doesnt really help when you buy the new D3.
    I have a D3. Stepcrafts are well priced, sturdy machines and well manufactured but the printed construction manual suddenly ends when its time to plug in your machine, doesnt include UCCNC or a first use guide. In my opinion, their manuals and video libraries are as unorganized as the contents explained by the CEO in this video, ( dispite the questions asked where very accurate)

    I purchased my CNC machine 3 weeks ago and have yet to make a single cut because I get lost, figure it out, get lost, figure it out...Right now, I'm just trying to figure out how to move the Z axis. When i enter a number in the Z field, it just disappears. But you did save me by showing option that will move my Z and I don't need to type a number. The next problem is that UCCNC is telling me that my soft limits is exceeded, to either adjust or to remove. Hopefully i'll make a first cut within a couple of weeks

    so I have limit switches to home my machine (left front corner) and they do exactly what they're supposed to do. Problem is CNC4NEWBIE and it's US support provided by one single individual are simply not capable of being responsive to the plethora of customers they have to support.
    I cannot for the world of me figure out how to set the "virtual limits" in the UCCNC software accurately so that I can stop running into outer plates (back and right and Z) therefore when that happens, throws off my "zero" coordinates". Frustrating at best! Could you possibly tell me how to set these limits or the methodology behind it so that I might be able to understand it better.

    Howdy George.
    Great video - I just subscribed. 🙂
    Like you I also have an M.1000 that I received fully assembled in June. About a month ago, I purchased an Automatic Tool Changer with a Tool Magazine and Dust Boot Control. However, I'm having a terrible time getting the ATC and magazine working properly. Have you had any issues with your ATC and magazine? I've been working with Hugo, at Stepcraft. He writes most if not all the ATC UCCNC macros. Any way you could reply and include your values for ToolX[1] and ToolY[1] in the M6 macro? These are my values - ToolX[1] = 678.0000; ToolY[1] = 1040.9625;
    Thanks!

    • @GeorgeKennerLaser
      @GeorgeKennerLaser  Год назад

      I have mostly used the tool changer for the speed of releasing the chuck and changing the bit. TO ME.. that was worth the entire price of the ATC . I have not really set up a program to change the bits, my projects have not required it honestly. I still feel like I am doing simple projects. Sorry I could not provide more help, but Honestly is the Best Policy. CHEER BROTHER!

    Great video - thank you so much for doing this.
    I have a question - is there a way you can put software limits on the machine so that it never hits the limit switches on each axis and you have to reset it?

    • @GeorgeKennerLaser
      @GeorgeKennerLaser  Год назад +1

      I am not sure about that, but cannot think of a reason that would be a good thing. I would rather work with the limit switch as it would give me full use of the table size I have. Could I be missing something? I really do not know, I am asking honestly. Thank you for the thoughtful comment. Cheers!

    • @guerrillasneeded
      @guerrillasneeded Год назад

      @@GeorgeKennerLaser thanks for the response. what I want to know is if there is a way set the software so that the hardware can allow movement to just before the limit switch before triggering it and you have to do a reset.
      For example, if you manually move the gantry on any axis and it stops the movement just before it triggers the switch.
      This might not be necessary but I find it kind of irksome to have to reset every time I manually move the gantry and it gets triggered.

      @@guerrillasneeded I understand what your saying but having used the machine, I do not find this to be an issue or ease of use. More times than not the only time I hit the limit switch is doing a homing sequence. Honestly do not know if you can set a hard stop. There are some abilities to set return points. but I am not sure that land on the axis stop points.

It is in reset mode either my Estop is released or activated. It has red status "Idle", "Reset" and "Hard limit" under diagnostics tab. Visually my limit switches doesn't seem to be activated in any way.
