    Hello Ryan, Thank you for this resource. It has helped me a lot during this season of transition for most churches. Is there any way I could gain access to this template? I have access to pro tools and a waves server to help with many of the effects and plugins. Thanks for what you do!

      Hi Troy, thank you for the kind words. I'm very glad to hear that this has been helpful for you in this season. If you are interested in digging deeper into my sermon mixing process, I've recently updated my workflow, and have gone into much further detail on the process with my course found on Production Online. You can find that here...
      classes.productiononline.com/p/post-production-mixing
      Now to answer your question about offering templates. I have two solutions for you...
      1) The greatest way you can grow/learn is by re-creating. I encourage you to apply what you've learned either from this video or my course on Production Online, and re-create something specific for your needs. This in the long run will help you fully understand the "why" behind the signal flow and process, which only empowers and enables you more.
      2) I do actually plan on making templates available to purchase and download on my website in the near future. Once that happens, I'll make a video and post it here to share them and walk through them.

    Great overview! Is true-peak something that comes into play for your broadcast/tv mix?

    • @RyanMonette
      @RyanMonette  6 лет назад

      Thank you! It does indeed! When I mix for TV I have a separate session/template. When I mix for TV, I'm using the bounced stereo mix of a sermon, and my whole session adheres to the TV loudness standards (average -24 LKFS) and limited at -10 dBFS.

    • @bschmu
      @bschmu 6 лет назад +1

      Whats your workflow for the TV mix? I'm assuming its just a mastering of your bounced mix in terms of compression and limiting. What plugins do you use in that process? I'm a total izotope snob and love working with Ozone and Insight.

    • @RyanMonette
      @RyanMonette  6 лет назад

      I have a separate template. My workflow involves leveling the mixed sermon for TV standards, but also mixing a "coming up" section, a commercial (that I have mixed in a prior session before it is in my TV mix session), and a talking head moment with Pastor after the sermon. I still use all the same plugins I mentioned in this video.

    Why Wouldn't vocal rider work to automate the volume?

    • @RyanMonette
      @RyanMonette  4 года назад +1

      I use vocal rider a lot. Pretty much on every VO or talking head I mix. I've tried it with sermons, but I found that when mixing someone as dynamic as this, no matter how I tweak the settings, it just sounds funky and not natural. I still want to preserve some dynamic relationships. So at the end of the day, if it does or doesn't SOUND right, then that's what matters most.

  • @TimothyFish
    @TimothyFish 5 месяцев назад

    I was shocked when I first learned that people were using canned applause for worship services. I believe it was a Bethel video that I first noticed it on. There was footage of a Bill Johnson speaking and you could also see people in the room. The people I saw in the room looked pretty bored, but the audio indicated otherwise. I figured that was something that people wouldn't admit to doing. I think I'm even more shocked to see a video where someone actually talks about doing it.

    • @RyanMonette
      @RyanMonette  5 месяцев назад +1

      Pretty sure when I talked about it I went into detail about how the samples are only used to supplement what is already there due to lowering the volume of the audience microphones, and never placing applause where there isn’t already applause. I can't speak for Bethel's process, but for me and my approach doing this over the past 12+ years for Elevation, these moments are NEVER fabricated. Only helping support what already is there, matching the same level of energy/intensity and never more so. You can watch any Elevation sermon and you will never hear anything you do not see with the appropriate relationship. That I can promise.
      I welcome further conversation if you wish to have so. My email is in the bio if you want to reach out directly. I'm happy to help.

      We experiment on occasion, but we primarily use Sennheiser MKH 8060's and 8070's

    The pastor's mic needs a popper blocker in it.

    What does AR mean?

      Audience Response. So those are all the mics scattered throughout the auditorium that help capture the sound of the audience (claps, laughs, responses, etc.).

      Ryan Monette how long do you keep the massive full length recordings for?

      @@finnrowden3341 I keep a copy of all the tracks used with the session forever. When we record, once we fill up a drive, we archive it and get a new drive.
