Im using 5w20 pp-ultra and 30% marvel mystery oil for my old transfer case.
Years ago I saw an extreme off road transfer case company recommend 0w20 oil for there transfer case. I don't think atf is the best idea for a tc system. And that seems to be what tc fluid is. 75w90 is much thicker than tc fluid.
Next im switching to 0w16 if I ever get to it. It's still thicker and has a stronger additive package than ATF! So I think even 0w8 should be better than ATF?
You can get 0w16 now for cheap too.

On my 2020 Tundra I've replaced front differential, transfer case and have done rear diff twice since I notice it gets worked more and is darker than the other 2. Also did 3 drain and fill on transmission planning to do 1 more at 40k. All done with Amsoil except for transfer case which I used Ravenol as Amsoil didn't have a recommendation for Tundra transfer case.

Transfer case and diff fluid is the easiest to change. Literally drain and refill. Doesn’t get much simpler than that and most don’t hold much fluid so it’s not a big cost. No excuse!
Actually it's not. Most 4x4s have to have the skid plate removed. I have done it 3 times in 10 years though

@@repairvehicle I asked last time about that and they said no, i asked again can i use transmission fluid and they said we do not recommend that. Yes I agree with you you can use gear oil 75w80 should be fine

No, but you mentioned they are lifetime. No one will give more than 5 years warranty for the fluid even if its unused in the bottle

@@Stoff1 , look at bottles and see if you can find lifetime wording on it. Email companies and asked them for how long fresh fluid is good without being subjected to heat stress and moisture. None of them will tell you that’s is good past 5 years.
