Imagine, a university graduate in journalism that doesn't understand energy requirements and the resulting cost increase in each step of the production and distribution chain.
The reporter didn't ask any question about how energy requirements and the resulting cost increase in each step of the production and distribution chain. He asked a question that Pierre didn't even touch on with his answer. What evidence do you have that the carbon tax is a major significant driver of inflation was the question asked. The grocer said the cost for trucking doubled, the carbon tax wasn't the cause of fuel prices doubling. The carbon tax now amounts to 20 cents per litre so a one time increase of one cent per pound of grocery about covers it. After that, if there is inflation it has nothing to do with the carbon tax.
@@ascoop22 The lack of comprehension was implicit in the question asked by the university journalism grad that doesn't comprehend how an economy functions. The effects of the carbon tax are compounded, the tax impacts each and every stage of production and is levied on all energy use- not 'gas' as you state, it's a carbon dioxide emissions tax reliant on MRV ( monitoring, reporting, verification) which is notoriously inefficient and problematic. The primary argument employed by the naive is that the tax effects the demand side through reduction and that the anticipated supply side reduction offsets the demand side decreases- NOPE, all evidence indicates otherwise. Information asymmetry is a thing. Consumption is not slowing down, rather the opposite.

Just because you’re biased doesn’t mean bad things don’t happen on your side lol 😂 Are you part of a cult?
@@guytoronto It's changed colloquially over time, they claim it started in the 2010's, but I remember being called that as early as 2004. As for today, I'd argue woke is now described as 'neo-identity politics.' From my recollection, woke used to be about being aware of government/corporate corruption and plutocratic infrastructures within the media, which the old-left heavily protested the war in the East (2001) and occupy W.street (2011). A lot of Orwell's works would be cited against pro-war / pro-hedgefund yellow journalism at this time for misleading the public about these issues. But to the new-liberals comprised of youth who weren't around for those events, the term 'woke' now seems to be less associated with working-class struggles, plutocracies, oil wars, combating yellow journalism, and has become more associated with new critical theory doctrines such as viewing the country, wealth, and environment through the lens of hierarchical systems controlled by elitist racial / religious / gender groups. Unfortunately, they often narrow-sightly over-generalize and blame the majority for these systems instead of focusing on the people at the top who made it so, which causes civil unrest in our wider communities as people feel as if their being blamed constantly for a wide array of problems they didn't create or have any control of. In my opinion, to vote solely based on identity politics and nothing else has been rather divisive. A good example of this is when I talked to a young-lefty on my college campus, she was asking me about Pierre. I got her opinion on him first, and she said if Pierre wins that he'll literally gas PoC and LGBT+ in concentration camps. When I explained that his wife was a PoC and he has multiple LGBT+ people on his cabinet, she told me it was 'just a cover-up.' I asked her about the state of our economy and housing, and despite her being near the point of needing to eat out of trashcans to make it through the semester, she said it would still be a problem no matter who was elected federally. When I told her that LGBT+/PoC will be most affected by economic turmoil, and that we should focus more on improving the standards of living for everyone as LGBT+ / PoC will benefit, she told me that I was sounding 'populist' because the focus needs to be on PoC/LGBT+ and she fears that populism will lead to genocide. She was like a broken record with that LGBT+/PoC stuff. One quick google search says the new dictionary definition of woke is: "aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)" But tell me, does that women at my campus seem factually correct to you? In what world is Canada going to put LGBT+ and PoC into concentration camps? And she ain't an outlier either, I've seen that opinion professed many times... ANTIFA in particular are often outside many of his town-hall meetings, including the one in my hometown, and their yelling at people calling them fascists about to commit trans genocide... I have no idea how the left has become dissolved into this... How'd did the left go from being the lovable populist conspiracy theorists to these estranged people screaming at others for not being interested in identity politics?

Imagine, a university graduate in journalism that doesn't understand energy requirements and the resulting cost increase in each step of the production and distribution chain.
Masters degree in gender studies.
We're you talking about our Finance Minister ?

You have zero clue what the term "woke" even means.
@@guytoronto Well, I promise you one inseparable aspect of the “Woke” Paradigm is Dialectics. Just because your government daddy Trudeau says that inflation is being combatted and the carbon tax won’t increase costs of things, doesn’t mean it won’t actually lead to such a conclusion.

Ask people that own/run restaurants how their costs have increased and how they ARE STRUGGLING TO MAKE ANY PROFIT - FIRE THAT JOURNALIST
My family and I were at the Rally here in Surrey/Cloverdale, and as usual you were awesome , we all loved you. Regarding this Idiot Reporter , just like his Boss (Trudeau) his elevator does not reach the top, and every time they open their mouth they make fools of themselves.
This is why "progressives" refuse to actually answer the questions posed to them & then instead change to their nonsense & idiotic diatribe they prefer to subject Canadians to instead!
We are dealing with this same theft in California. Great reporting sir.
go get em pierre. im a 56 yr old with significant health issues after 40 yrs of hard honest work who can't work anymore. help us.
"First grade math schools liberal reporter"
If only our PM could answer questions this directly...
I finally found the abstract from the article.
It was conducted by two economists specializing in climate science policy. Oddly enough, both researchers found that the polocies they promote are good. "Robust" was the word they used.
Then they mentioned that unlike all of the previous studies that disagreed with them, their new method of NOT looking at individual sectors was able to not find any negative impact where they didn't look.
Sort of like declaring a litter box doesn't have a cat turd in it because the cat buried it out of view.
Imagine If Pierre rules Canada and RFK rules the US
The wourld could go back to normal again
Amazing how there are price labels on the shelves, unlike the last visit by Freeland
Every time you get a question like this from a "reporter" the camera should pan around to show that "reporter". Let us see who needs to be ignored in the future. They are putting themselves into the public eye just like you are and it's about time they get shamed/recognized for what they do. Good or bad.
It baffles me how some people can’t see this - it’s common sense. But common sense seems to be getting less and less common these days.
I am not Canadian and I used to love to visit Canada. As long as Trudeau is in office I will keep away. You give me hope for your beautiful country Sir!
Common sense is like kryptonite to Lib's
Pierre rocks man get this message out there man dont roll over for the media
“All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be best one”
I’m 100% to vote ☑️ Poilievre!!
The fact that he had to explain this simple thing to the reporter 😂😂
I don’t know what special kind of delusional a person has to be to believe an ever escalating carbon tax is making goods more affordable, but that reporter seems to have cracked the formula.
He must be looking for a job in government as only they can be that stupid and get paid for it.
weird coincidence the fuel prices went up right after the 2022 protests.
