His restaurant served excellent bbq, I always enjoyed it. A friend of mine had a birthday party at the restaurant and we had a great time, Bobby was there playing Asteroids with us. He was very fit even after retirement, kept himself in excellent shape.
Ted was so tall for linebacker, doesn't make sense that he played as well as he did for as long as he did. A true freak of nature, truly one of a kind.
Bobby Bell would be the first linebacker I would ever get on my all-time team. I think he's the most complete linebacker that's ever played the game. He should be way more popular than he is.
That Chiefs defense had 6 future Hall of Famers...Buck Buchanan, Curley Culp, Willie Lanier, Bobby Bell, Emmitt Thomas, and Johnny Robinson. I believe the Steel Curtain have 4 so far...Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, and Mel Blount. I think LC Greenwood and Donnie Shell will get in eventually but who knows when
Without a doubt,Bobby Bell,Willie Lanier, and the underrated Jim Lynch, are the greatest linebacker trio in NFL history!! And the Wolfpack defense could stack up against anyone, including the”Steel Curtain”!
Those high top shoes WOW!Loved those chiefs in that time they were a super team.O Taylor ,Len Dawson, Buck Buchanon,EJ Holub, Mike Garrett,Jackie Sherrill and on and on.Texans to Chiefs mentally i went with them to KC.
You are absolutely correct. Someone must have had a few too many in setting this ranking. Perfect player. Strong, fast, big, hard working, fundamentally sound, versatile, brains, character, style, grace, intensity, WINNER in his sport, business, and life. And beloved in his community. He is a role model, not necessarily for football, but for living one's life in a balanced way. If everyone did what they do as well as #78, the world would be a better place. Running back the onside kick like he did is a perfect indicator of his play. Like LT before LT. And without the problems. Football is a brutal and dark industry, and Bell is a point of light that makes it less that way. He was old school AND ahead of his time. I hope the players today recognize his greatness and what he and his fellow players did in paving the way, despite the fact that professional football also has an underside that embodies some pretty rotten things abt our society.
The guy that’s sometimes overlooked is Dave Robinson from the Packers. Very versatile athletic LB with speed. I can see why LT might mention Henderson in Dallas. Henderson was a blitzer with speed, who could chase the play. In reality, he was no where near as good as LT.
@@grupp9058 let's be real, he only was an olb because he played in the, 3-4 where he was supposed to pass rush on almost every play. I'd classify him more as a d-end than an olb
Lawrence Taylor before Lawrence Taylor . That was Bobby Bell. His teammate Buck Buchanan tied it in a ribbon when he said, "Bobby Lee Bell was the greatest athlete who ever was." Hank Strams comment that Bell could play any position on a football field and not embarrass himself is another testimonial of his greatness. What Bell and Lanier symbolized was the AFLs all out pursuit of elite talent. No matter the color or where they came from!! Even by the seventies many teams were still ducking black players. Especially from the historically black colleges. The Chiefs, Raiders and Steelers were completely color blind. It showed on the field in their early dominance over NFL teams. The only question about Bells ranking in the top 100 is , why so low? Along with Taylor and Jack Ham one of the three greatest outside linebackers of all time. And not necessarily in that order.
One guy told me if he had a team full of Deion Sanders at every position both ways it would be the best choice of a one player team in Madden, my first choice to counter was #1 Bobby Bell #2 Marcus Allen #3 Walter Payton all would crush Deion.
"Top 100 NFL Players of All-Time (as voted for by current NFL General Managers)" ...That's what I'd like to watch - get an up-to-date, critical, analytical perspective.
Bkfinest99 Mack , sometimes I think there's an anti-AFL bias when it comes to rankings. Plus Bobby Bell played OLB and they seldom get the respect that MLBs do. Lawrence Taylor is deservedly lauded because he changed the game profoundly. But I'm still a huge fan of the balanced run stopping/pass covering/occasionally blitzing OLBs like Bell and Jack Ham.
uhhhh huh and u never see guys like this anymore... one of the reasons is scouting. the only players that get noticed are ones with extremely rare connections/ or a ton of fckin money. and no in between. in the land of opportunity- there isn’t any. it’s sad to see the downward spiral of the NFL. but, the more u pay human beings the more it will change the way they perceive everyday life. why give every play your all if you’re just gonna get the same $500,000 check at the end of every week? Look at the statistics, for every sport, the more you pay a man, the less effort

What a BEAST! Sad I'm just learning about him now. Dude was ahead of his time.
The linebackers these days are I think 6'3-6'4 about 220-230 or 235
I wish the NFL channel would show more games from the 60,s, 70,s and 80,s
No money in promoting the past. You know that.
@@Didyourmomtwice It did very during the quarantine. I for one love watching old film. I wasn't alive for a point of reference for the legends of old.

Really nice guy as well.
Great athlete, player & a gentleman off the field.
grew up in KC late 60s into the 80s. every minute of this team back then.
ONE OF THE THE GREATEST TO EVER PLAY THE GAME.
I knew Bobby Bell was great, but I was today years old learning about that onside kick recovery touchdown. That's just awesome.
Bell, Lanier, Buchanan... ahhh the 60s Chiefs and the AFL! When real men played football.
LMAOOOO
Beast! Probably the most athletic OLB to LT. Bobby, Ted Hendricks, Jack Ham, were all great!

Greatest Linebacker group ever! Belll, Lanier & Lynch Steelers that’s right Ham, Lambert & Russell. close 2nd!
i agree
Give me the Steel Curtain.

they won 3 AFL titles

Anybody else notice there's no number 70? Lol
Marshall Faulk.
Him and LT are the two best olb ever no doubt

TheMysticParrots more like top 30
Best outside linebacker ever in my opinion
No one will ever top LT
+Ciaran Flanagan as an all around player Bobby bell I think is better because LT was mostly just a pass rusher
+Sean McCarthy the most dominant force against the rush ever you couldn't run at him and he tracked backs down from behind
+Ciaran Flanagan yea but LT couldn't cover like Bell
LT overrated
Playing the run. Holy moly.
I went to the pro football hall of fame and he seen my brother hair and he came over to talk with us 🐐💪🏿
I'm surprised that Lawrence Taylor didn't say Bobby Bell was his idol instead of Hollywood Henderson.
LT's playstyle was more like Henderson's. But in terms of being a freak athlete he definitely took after Bobby Bell.
The guy that’s sometimes overlooked is Dave Robinson from the Packers. Very versatile athletic LB with speed. I can see why LT might mention Henderson in Dallas. Henderson was a blitzer with speed, who could chase the play. In reality, he was no where near as good as LT.
Much respect Bobby Bell
Willie Lanier is my favorite but I like Bobby Bell has my second favorite
230 ain’t small today, Especially when it’s sold muscle but I do believe he was a little bigger, One of my favorite players
as a life long oakland raiders fan i have much respect for bobby bell #78.

Lawrence Taylor

What a beautiful thing
My boy Bobby number 69
Big Bobby
I miss the class of the sixties look. He looked like a god
Beast!!
first outside LB in the HOF
I did the exact same thing with Bobby Bell at 2:23 in Madden Mobile
How does a quarterback become a linebacker/DE? That’s Bobby Bell
Bobby Bell could have played almost any position because that is what he did at the University of Minnesota. He was amazing.
Love him and LT as best OLBs ever BUT i include another chiefs outside linebacker great in derrick thomas.
if he played today he would be a huge very fast safety
Now if Leonard Floyd who is a lightweight chiseled OLB can be like this man

Teammate of Carl Eller at Minnesota ,golden gopher!
My father said that Bobby Bell was the best Outside Linebacker he saw play until LT showed up
Nice.
Yo how TF is this in my recommended when his new MUT card barely came out?
Beastin'
They linebacking corps had a great name “The Redwood Forest “
I wonder if the Vikings may have lost SB IV the moment Bell chose the Chiefs over them years prior when they both drafted him.
Pretty sure 70th is OJ that’s why they set the video private
Its Marshall faulke
He is my all time outside linebacker next to LT who was the best.

4.4 speed
The Hawk!
230?!
He played like he was 6-5 250 or even 260
