@@pjetrs Yea 3 things got me into bike racing Jeff, Vegancyclist, and the anime Yowamushi Pedal. These three things exposed how interesting racing is on the inside. The POV cams with inner monologues are truly a game-changer. World tour races by contrast feel like your just watching a peloton stitched up by the Gc team and ending with an inevitable bunch sprint. Of course with the exception of climbing stages where you might get a little bit of a strung out line of climbers. I’m sure there are plenty of attacks and interesting mindgames in WT races but the live feed never seems to catch those moments. Also the power numbers and heartbeat are huge. I feel like watching the pros from the sky it seems like they aren’t even trying. In these videos you can easily see when they are hurting and pushing theirself. Hanging on for dear life.
It wasn't a mistake- the dude knew Glen wasn't getting those 7 seconds in under 500m and did what I think most riders would do in that situation- used Glen's leadout for a sprint.
@@rossolimo4981 Don't think it's likely to happen unless it's funded from the US. In competitive terms the NL riders & clubs gain nothing - standard in NL & BE (& EU generally) is way higher than the US. If they get everything paid for I'm sure they wouldn't mind a free holiday and some easy wins, though.
I was SOOOOOOO looking forward to this finale!!!! Thanks Glen for sending in your footage and co-hosting and thanks Jeff for putting him on! Super great, entertaining, and impressive!
It makes perfect sense that guy at the end because he either wanted to get first or finish high up on the stage. With glenn sprinting he was already being led out, and if he didnt think he had a sprint from 200 m that may have seem liked a better option than holding back and sprinting closer to the line.
Agree. No guarantee either that Blue Jersey would actually close it down. Of course oxygen debt could play a part in decision-making by that point too, lol.
To be fair there's no way he is opening up a 7s gap in the last 400m... The guy chased him because he wants the stage win I think that was obvious? Not everything is GC and to most of the riders that's secondary
Agreed. At 50 km/h 400 m only takes half a minute. Glenn would've needed to ride at 70 km/h to win by 7 seconds. Even world class professionals can't ride that fast for that long, even fresh and on the track, let alone outside, on tarmac and after 40 kms of racing. On the flat, there's never going to be that much difference in speed.
Same thought here. 400m left and they're surprised the guy followed the wheel!? It was a nice lead out for a potential stage win. Guy was obviously not thinking GC.
Glad you all posted this because I was kind of confused by their comments on that. It's not like the whole group was working for Glenn to take the GC, so I was like why wouldn't he take the lead out and jump on it?
Really enjoyed watching all of these videos with Glenn and his countrymen. Would definitely be up to watch another series of them later this year. What's not to like about some top quality racing? Congrats on the sprint jersey and the GC podium Glenn! You're a beast man!
Was really hoping for unnecessarily obvious "blue jersey" and "white socks" annotations at the podium pic 😄 Loving the vids Jeff & big thanks to Glenn, keep being awesome!
Looks like a pretty good push to me. Plus the same rider gives him a tap earlier on when passing on the edge & on this 2nd occasion he had space to go past easily.
@@deanm4290 Right it looks like a push. So is this something expected and appreciated from a teammate or just a fellow rider not wanting to go to the front so he transfers his momentum.. And is it legal?
Hey Jeff, I would love to see a video, where we "join" you on a training ride. Really interested in the terrain/nature in your area. Also think it could be a cool way of getting to know u better! Greetings from Denmark
Best chance seemed like what Jeff (nicely) pointed out, IMO - _Glenn's bridge to the break...where he blew by them._ But Blue Jersey was obviously also strong, so it may have been for naught anyways.
had someone do that same thing to me at Tosh coming into the final if they would have pulled though in the final i would have been 3rd on GC but they sat on my wheel and group got us 50 meters from the line
Obviously not faulting him for trying to win, It was just the wrong move, he should have waited for blue jersey and gotten a free leadout. Glenn almost certainly would have lost anyway, so kind of a moot point.
So, ah, this race is taking place in the Netherlands - doesn't that make them ALL "Dutch muscle??" Especially when they're regularly throwing down 1000+ watts?
@@NorCalCycling oh the layout is fantastic and it’s nice and fast. The trees and lack of runoff is what I find unforgiving. I might be the minority but my moto racing background causes me to give more than the usual attention to runoff.
Judging a bike racing course by moto racing standards 🤔. I hear you though, nobody wants to hit a tree. I think it would be very unlikely, most bike crashes are fall down and slide, seldom are they veer off course and continue to ride.
@@NorCalCycling If anyone would know, you certainly would. hahahaha So I will no doubt defer to your expert opinion and take your word for it. Making sure he had space to get by, and Glen didn't drift right, and close the door on him.

For the front camera do you recommend handle bar mount or chest mount?
"you needed them to know that your were coming" this is why race bikes need an aero bell :b

@Norcal any idea what course this is?
Glenn is an absolute fucking BEAST. Sucks he didn't make that last attack stick.
At the end he doesn’t really chase him back, he was very close to Glenn, so come on lol, that’s some bs lol
