Dhruv Bedi is one of India’s most promising young sitarists. The son of sitar and surbahar exponent Jagdeep Singh Bedi, he also receives training from Budhaditya Mukherjee in the traditional guru-shishya style. He is renowned for his natural ability at capturing gayaki ang [singing style], and also for a wide range of collaborations, working with jazz and Carnatic artists as well as those from Scotland, Russia, Korea, and beyond. Bhimpalasi is an afternoon raga, said to evoke sringara [attraction, romantic love]. It uses the notes of Kafi thaat, with an aroha [ascent] of nSgmPnS and an avroh [descent] of SnDPmgRS. Characteristically, Dha and Re only appear in the descending line, and tend to be approached from the notes immediately above. Ma is the vadi [king note]. WOW! Perfection from start to finish. The ending is absolutely mind blowing. As a side note, I would love to see a "behind the scenes" video on how you produce this series, everything from scouting locations to getting such excellent audio recordings.
Absolutely incredible, but that being said, I dream now of a much longer performance with tabla at 3:00 in the morning at some ancient temple in Banaras.

A great performance of my favorite raga who always make come out tears from my eyes I wonder if the scenery is Mount Gridhrakuta near Rajgir in Bihar. Also known as Vulture peak or Eagle Peak mentioned in Buddhist scriptures considered to be the place where Shakyamuni Buddha delivered among his many teachings the Lotus Sutra Also Eagle Peak is a metaphor of the having achieved anuttara sanmyak sambodhi the mximum and perfect enlightenment i.e. the Buddha state. Certainly this young artist has rendered Bhimpalasi in a way that he ust have feel in such a state Beautiful video Wish I could be there I could back to India again Namaste aur dhanyavad Dhruv Bedi ji
