Props for City Extra! Is a great tire, and even though it is not an off-road tire, I have done several thousand kilometers on gravel and it grips really well. Additionally, it is quiet, predictable, grips well on wet surfaces, easy to turn, puncture-resistant (I use it tubeless). The rubber compound is soft, which, when paired with high pressure, means the tread still flexes slightly.
You nailed all the things I had to learn about riding my Sherman S coming from an 18L. I have just over 200 miles on the S and I've finally gotten really comfortable and found a good pad setup to let me push it hard like I want. I got the E-Rides spiked pedals and suspension covers for it and that really lets me dig my calf into the side of the wheel when turning without loosing grip on the pedals.
V11 seems to be a pretty good size and configuration BUT I would make the tire wider. That one there seems to be too tall, though maybe tall is good. But, the tire still seems way to thin. A wider tire might help turn, perhaps. 55mph is way too fast anyway BUT it's good to have power on acceleration and rough terrain. I'd prefer a 'fixed' version of the V11 myself.
good deal dude... explained very well ....im first euc owner of v13 ... i do very well on it and learned it in an hour, HOWEVER I have a long history of extreme sports. snowboarding, skateboarding, bmxing, motocrossing, and if you have a history of doing these sports or any balancing sports like yoga, ballet, football, tennis or the like it will take a new person very little time to learn these big wheels .... without those balancing sports you will HAVE to make up for lost time before these wheels will let you mount them.
@@WheelGoodTime haha I am already drifting ... took it on the tail of the dragon in NC. 300 miles into this amazing adventure. The v13 is SOOOO smooth and stable at high speeds.... I dont know what other euc's are like but I love this thing.
I was getting blown by the wind while I was using a 80/90 tire before. I recently swithced to 90/90 version of the same tire and it's a night and day of a difference. The wheel doesnt get tilted no matter the speed of the wind and the way it handles the corners is just incredible. Master pro felt sketchy with that tire before and right now it is most stable wheel I have ever ridden. (And yes I have ridden a v13 and managed to hit 56mph on it.)
I was considering the Michelin City Extra 90/90-17 tire, but I'm concerned it might rub against the battery packs. I did some research online and it seems like everyone is fitting 80/90-17 tires to avoid this issue. Has you mounted the 90/90-17 tire without any problems?
You are likely just fine as long as you use metal battery packs. They included wider spacers with the metal battery packs for V1 owners so there is likely enough room in there.
I think you're gonna love it! Fair warning that if you aren't used to such a big wheel, it'll have a bit of getting used to, but once you get over that small hump, it's fantastic.
I love it! It even has excellent grip on the dirt, probably from the deep sipes. It's still not an "off-road tire" exactly, but it does the job very well in all terrains that I've tried it in.
I can hit 49 mph wheel speed at 27% battery at 155 lbs + gear on my maspro before hitting 90% pwm wheel beep. Good mentioning keeping rear pads high. Should have mentioned you can literally destroy your spine trying to life this into your vehicle and should get a ramp 😅
Great video, some great points raised. I'm in this very predicament... Wanting to upgrade my V10F to an S22. But I only weigh around 74kg with gear. Not sure if I'll have enough weight to steer the thing, especially at S22 speeds...
You will have no problem steering an S22. It might take a little getting used to (like all new wheels do) but it won't be a problem Check out Nadia/EUC girl - she is a child youtuber who rides wheels about that size (I think an s22, not sure) with no problem whatsoever and she can't be more than 90 lbs.
I pilot a s22, very nimble, and just the right weight and size for what it's made for. The width may be awkward at first, but doesn't take long you find the width is slightly wider than nature stance. I rode a v13 didn't like how skinny it was.
You ride exactly how I ride my ex30 especially since installing a Michelin Pliot street tyre... the gyro effect with this tyre is strong... you have to literally manhandle the wheel, ride aggressively.
Great job! I haven't heard of this channel, but glad I took a look at this video. Sorry, I won't be telling you you're wrong. Except that the large wheel won't be as easy to maneuver at low speeds and that's because of the top-heaviness you mentioned. I'm not a fan of the big ones and don't need 50 MPH.
The only thing I had ridden was a ninebot mini pro. But I have been eyeing the Sherman S. Might pull the trigger. I wand some that can stand in for local runs to the gym store etc. I also ride normal unicycle with pedals. And 10yrs of sport bike racing
Sherman S is a great wheel. Very solidly built, high quality and capable of high speeds. Stellar suspension too. Only issue I have with it is that it uses a 100v system and it's not torquey enough for ultra-fast accleration for my taste. Coming from a Ninebot, the SS will be seen as a massive upgrade.
@WheelGoodTime I just ordered the v13 and the ss. Going to test out what I like and send the other one to my office so I don't need a rental when I travel back to the main office
I'm still on the stock tire. I've never done an upgrade on euc tires before (MasPro is my 4th). I did the metal battery cases, which will allow wider rubber. Which tire should i go with? I see Michelin City Extra, Pirelli Angel City, etc. I want good rim protection as well as the usual benefits of an upgraded tire
The city extra is the sequel to the city pro if I'm not mistaken. Idk anything about the pirelli other than it has good reviews. I like the city extra because the sidewall is reinforced - that causes a much stronger gyro effect than the stock tire, because the stock tire sidewall isn't reinforced. You'll likely either love or hate the gyro effect - personally I like the extra stability that it adds. The city extra has lasted me over 1500 miles and still has tons of tread left over - I think it will last me 5000+ miles without issue most likely.
9:50 That's probably what you end up doing, but it's fighting with you aerodynamically. If you're trying to turn right, then hold your left arm out and tuck your right arm in. That'll get the wheel leaned over.
Doing that is not enough force for a huge wheel with a strong gyro effect. Tire selection is also a big factor. With my Michelin City Extra having a reinforced sidewall, the gyro effect is especially strong and requires even more throwing your weight around than the stock tire.
I've struggled to find my own 1st wheel as I'm a big dude, 260lbs @ 6' 2". I know I could ride the majority of wheels out there but I need something that isn't gonna be overpowered by my size. I don't have any reservations about manhandling a wheel, I'd prefer to do so. But I can only afford one wheel atm. Begode isn't my 1st choice considering their reputation but the master pro V2, the EX30, & the V13 are pretty much my top 3 choices it seems. A Sherman Max is close but my knees would greatly appreciate the suspension aspect 😅
Begode has improved build quality dramatically in the most recent generation of wheels. Honestly their simplicity is a great factor that has led to better reliability lately. The V13 is great and all, but there have been a higher number of issues stemming from the level of tech that they packed into the V13. For a starter wheel, you COULD get any of those, and among those I'd go with the EX30. The EX30 has nearly universally glowing reviews, has waterproofing, is a torque monster, and is slightly lighter than the Master Pro (~25 lbs). Be aware that the EX30 isn't ideal for super technical trails with low pedal/battery height, but that means also an increase in stability - it's all a trade-off depending on what you want out of a wheel. But you'll not outgrow any of those three EUCs for a long time, if ever.
@@WheelGoodTime appreciate the response, the EX30 is the direction im leaning twords most. I wouldn't be doing anything crazy, mostly a 25 mile round trip to work & back but the majority length is a 55 mph highway. Imo simplicity is key & the exoskeleton style & customization of begode is really appealing 😁
I ride with a guy who is 6 foot 5 260 lbs and he loves it. I don't care for how skinny it was feels wobbly. Ex30 would be a good option too tbh. May be easier to ride the ex30.
Anthony, get the smallest wheel you can tolerate. You’ll never regret going small. I’m 6’7” / 300# and my first wheel was only 300watts with a 10mph top speed and it served me well for over 6 months before I upgraded to the 16x. Almost every new rider regrets going big! It’s easier to learn on a smaller wheel and much much less painful. This V11, V12, 16x, mten4, v8f, and many others are great first wheels. Stop wasting time making what is an impossible decision for new riders, just start with the cheapest used wheel you can find. None of the high end wheels is as reliable as the 16x… and some wheels, like the S22pro are fair but will require maintenance every 300-500 miles just tilt clean the sliders. Fuck that noise. Keep it simple.
Thanks for sharing. I can't help but notice your pads are tight on your calf and foot. I guess it's a matter of preference. With my Begode Master, I use minimal pads because I want the freedom to be able to shift my body legs and foot to maneuver my machine without the feeling of being locked but then again, I'm a conservative rider with a high speed ride averaging only 30 to 35mph.
That is the Begode Master Pro. It's the V1, which isn't made anymore, but the V2 is very, very similar and has identical performance. I recommend you buy from nextgenmobility.org to get it on sale for $3700 via their telegram link. You can get it even cheaper if you use the coupon code "Wheel Good Time" 🙂 for comparison, typical pricing at major dealers is ~$4300-4600.
Do they live near me (Sebastopol, CA)? I don't own a wide variety, I currently own a Lynx, an A2, an E20 and a Sherman L that's on its way. I'm happy to let someone try out the A2 and the E20 regardless of experience level, and if they are experienced then they can ride my Lynx.

I want to buy my 1st euc but i need at least 100km range and 50 kph maybe, some ppl tell me: hey buy a small euc for practice but i dont wanna waste my money and then buy another euc just for more range
I would say try and find a small one used to learn on, then get a big boi. I got a used ninebot one e+ for about £180 to learn on, a couple of weeks later I was sourcing a Sherman Max 😅
I also kept the ninebot as a quick/light runaround and explicitly to have something to teach my friends with, it might be worth trying to see if there's anyone in your area that has a wheel you could learn on
Just my opinion, those big heavy wheels aren't even fun.. it's like riding around on my 50 lb wheel while carrying a bag of cement just so I can go a little faster, I'll just jump on my street motorcycle😂
